When are you getting around to Eastleigh coverage, dune?

I know you can make the step up from Gibraltar. I know Eastleigh has many more British citizens living in it, and that may be scary, but I believe you can do it.

Questionable...

Jorge Fernández Díaz, Spain’s Interior Minister with ultimate political responsibility for the Guardia Civil, also issued a warning alongside a call for dialogue.

“Our fishing boats will be protected at all times, it could not be any other way, and I am sure that in the end we will reach an understanding that makes good our reasons and rights.”

He added that Spain would not accept any attempt to “intimidate or humiliate”.

The Guardia Civil Officers’ Union also added its reactions to the incident, expressing concern that the fishing dispute had increased in intensity and that Guardia Civil boats were no match for Royal Navy vessels.

It said the Spanish Navy should deploy a vessel to the Bay of Gibraltar to protect the fishermen and stand up to the Royal navy.

“One cannot confuse the Guardia Civil’s internal military structure with it having the capacity to carry out functions that correspond to the Spanish navy,” it said in a statement.

That would be the same as sending a police car with two officers armed with pistols against a tank, it added.

Gibraltar will alway remain british...in our lifetimes anyway

I agree, but there is a clear escalation going on here. Someone has got to back down, or there will be a serious incident with all this happening at sea at night. It's good for your boys though because it just goes to show how important it is that we don't cut our capabilities too much. For all the wars in Iraq and Afganistan, this is more important because this is an infringement into british gibraltar territorial waters. The nerve.

What is pleasing is that there is a split between Algeciras and La Linea. And such tactics will only serve to strengthen the resolve of the Gibraltarians anyway. La Linea is utterly reliant on jobs in Gibraltar so the PP idiots are hurting their own people more than anyone else.

Spain are constantly at it.

you should see the stink they kick up when one of our subs go there.

they randomly close the border for no reason...claim that we are "escalating" a satiation every time one of our ships pulls in....

yet spain are very happy (and won't be dictated to) about their own "gibraltar" in morocco..

funny that

They've got two of their own - Ceuta and Melilla.

it has been of massive asset to this country in some of its greatest times in history.

but of course, saying that would make me a little englander

No doubting its strategic importance, TDD.

That's why the ending of Das Boot is so interesting.
