trousers Posted 24 May, 2012 Share Posted 24 May, 2012 Did anybody hear the piece on the BBC radio news about Olympic sponsorship and advertising - the Ricoh Arena are having to cover up all the Ricoh signs, any advertising around the pitch and stands, and even the manufacturer's logos in the wash basins and toilets. They cannot even announce 'Welcome to the Ricoh Arena' over the PA. This apparently extends to an 'exclusion zone' around each venue, to the extent that Network Rail are trying to find a way to avoid having to mask the word 'BRAINS' on the Brains Bridge near Cardiff railway station, as it's within the 'zone' for the Millennium Stadium. Can they stop spectators entering the stadium with logo'd t-shirts? An opportunity for a smart Ricoh marketing executive there me thinks... Whitey Grandad Posted 24 May, 2012 Share Posted 24 May, 2012 I have come to the conclusion that the Olympics is much more enjoyable when staged somewhere else. The smart move would have been to let the French have it.

edprice1984 Posted 24 May, 2012 Share Posted 24 May, 2012 I ran with the Commonwealth Games baton 10 years ago in Blackpool. Not quite Olympic, I grant you, but I handed it over to Cannon and Ball I ran with the baton in Cheltenham... The torch went past my childhood home this morning. The entire community was out, celebrating, talking to each other. Everyone had a smile on their faces, even the police outriders got cheered. Plus my 5 month old daughter had her pic with the torch too.

Hatch Posted 24 May, 2012 Share Posted 24 May, 2012 This is about the 3rd or 4th time that I have looked on the webcam on the BBC, are these people supposed to be running, they are all dawdling along, What happens if the run behind time?

Minty Posted 3 July, 2012 Share Posted 3 July, 2012 So, the torch nears the South Coast... anyone starting to care? Now, THIS is what you call an Olympic Torch relay. A Real Relay if you will: http://www.endurancelife.com/realrelay/ Got two friends taking part (one big Saints fan)... raising money for a good cause on the way too. No Coca-Cola or other company executives taking part in THIS one.
