I think I read on here a week or two ago that 10 is the minimum number of times a Prem team will be on TV in any given season.

Posted
We have to be on 10 times, but that quota will be split between Sky and ESPN, which is an additional sub.

WTF, are you serious?

Posted
Yes it's a p!ss take

hmm, do they usually pencil in the live games once the fixtures are out? Can't remember from when I last had it.

Posted

Think they release them in stages...so they'll anounce the first 3 months then the next 3 etc. Id rather just go to the pub or watch it on the internet if I can't make the game.

Yep I have ESPN for free too. Any other games that I don't attend (hopefully none) I'll watch on a free stream.

The only reason I'd buy Sky Sports is for their cricket coverage, but I'm buggered if I'm giving Murdoch any money.

ESPN is free to those with Virgin.

As soon as the 1st tranche of games are announced I can start booking trains!

unfortunately I can't get virgin or the bt thing.

Don't forget Football First, so you will be able to see every Saints game in full Saturday evenings!

Is that part of the sports package?

Posted
Yep. SS1 HD at around 20.00. Red button your choice of game.

Not gone for the HD option, is it on normal SS1?

Yep, on both versions on SS1.

Shows the full 90 of every single match on the red button, really good idea.

I think the first season it came into action was the year we were relegated, so we've never really benefited.!

Posted
I would imagine it's available on lesser channels. :)

I'm planning to add on HD, but chose to leave that off to start with.

About 10 or 11 for a newly promoted team, which just happens to be the same as Saints had in 2011/12 in the Championship.

We've got Matt batting for us though, so might wangle a few more.

Posted
You'd see a lot more if you got a season ticket. ;)

Can't afford the fuel, and can't be arsed with all the travelling. I prefer away games anyway.

Posted
Probably cheeper too

You must be joking. By the time you factor in the essentials - cost of ticket, travel costs, food & drink, betting, parking, etc - you're looking at 100 quid a game. Then multiply that by 19. And that's without factoring in a few away games.

Why is betting an essential? If the cost of food and drink is a lot for you then bring your own food and drink on the journey. There... saved you some money! Now cancel Sky and come to St Mary's. :)

You do understand that those vitals have to be purchased don't you?

To get down for a normal 3pm KO means £50 in fuel plus enough food/drink for my nipper & I until we get back around 20.00.

We buy all the grub on the Friday, make butties etc, bring plenty of squash in a cool bag but it ain't cheap.

Before tickets you're talking £70.

I shall also be doing this some time this week. Not had sky since Derby play off semi.

I have skysports in HD but earlier in the year had to make a decision films or sports, as we had seen most of the films we turned the films off, but decided as soon as the championship playoffs were finished we would swap to the film package until the start of the football season. As we have not had films for 5 months a lot of the films will be new to us but by the time the season starts we will have seen most of them. Football first is a necessity in the new season for the games I can not get too, and yes I am a season ticket holder.

Update phoned up after the Wet Sham game told them I was going to turn off the sports and turn on the films, told them it was a shame as I really like the sports but can not afford both unless you can do me a good deal. The lovely scottish lady on the other end of the phone then said if I stayed with the sports package she would give me films free for a year, result!!!!!!!!

Don't forget when we are on Sky next year it will usually be against top four sides so expect to see us getting a proper whopping from time to time and remembering what it was like if we lost 2-1 or drew 0-0 on here with some posters goodness knows what'll be like if we lose by our favourite top league hammering of 5-1!

One infamous poster on here is already saying if we don't have a compliment of 'replacement' signings in place by the end of June or summat then we'll have already started off the season badly - goodness knows what he'll think if we lose 4-0 at Man City or 6-0 at Fulham or something....I'm not saying that'll happen but we have to remember what league we are in and City beat Norwich 6-1 at Carrow Road this season for instance.

I am hoping I don't see any of those type of games on TV this season....

Been reading about skygo and I want it. I like Samsung phones so is the galaxy s2 good? Or what else would you recomend for this purpose that's better?

Doesn't really matter dune, phone, iPad or whatever the quality is only good enough for something like a mobile device.

Incidently I got fed up with sky like many and got everything but sports for £39 per month for a year, pretty good I think. Depends on who you get on the other end of the phone though.

I do that now and the picture is crap especially once hdmi linked to a big tv. Plus it freezes etc at crucial moments.

I've been with SKY for a few years. Rang them up a month or two ago and asked if they were doing any deals on ESPN, as I said I'd be prepared to pay a few quid a month for it, but not £10 a month (which I think is the usual price). After a couple of minutes talking to her manager, the woman on the phone said she would charge me £10 a month for ESPN, but knock £9 a month off the cost of our monthly SKY Movies subscription; therefore it would only cost an extra £1 a month. Thought it was a good deal so accepted. It's always worth giving them a call and see if they'll bargain.

You can't compare watching a game on a TV in HD to sitting infront of a laptop on some sh*t foreign stream, where you can barely make out who's who.

Had Sky with all the TV packages since 1999/2000 or so.

Always think everything is top top notch, the football coverage, football first, SSNHD, their new HD services etc. Also briefly had ESPN for a season, but couldn't justify the extra £9 a month so cancelled it.

Tried Virgin recently but thought the TiVo box wasn't as slick or user-friendly as my Sky+HD box to be honest, but suppose getting ESPN for free is a plus.
