Radhi Jaidi - All round great guy

Ranging from his Twitter posts to his footballing career, it will be a shame that Jaidi is leaving. It's not really a suprise to anyone but he has been a great defender and the only person in the saints squad who has ever featured in a world cup. He will be missed.

The flat I used to live in was owned by an Indian family who owned the local curry house. We used to go down there a few times a month (always got one a month on the house) and one time I walked in and he was in there. Had a great long chat with him over a pint, was a lovely guy, was saying how much he loves the area. Got talking to my landlord about this a few days later and he said that Radhi often comes in there for a curry and a pint and that one time there was a fight breaking out there and Rahdi took one of the lads to one side, had a drink with him and calmed him down by just chatting to him about football.

Top bloke all round.

Connolly played for Ireland in 2002, missed penalty in shoot out in 2nd round against Spain.

Rahdi will be missed but in the end he didn't play one single game last season, which was a sad way to end a career.

I know it won't happen but would be nice to give Rahdi and DC a send off in a friendly pre-season.

Brilliant guy Raidi - Made a fantastic contribution on the pitch, I will never forget when we played Leeds at home in our first season in League 1 that he marked Beckford out of the game completely. In fact the much hyped Mr Beckford spent much of the game on his arse, so dominant was Raidi.

he will have much to offer as a coach wherever it may be

Met him on the train once. Really nice bloke and its only up close you appreciate just what a beast the guy is. A shame to see him retire after a great playing career. Watched him put in some absolutely spectacular performances for us.

I'm sure someone will do the honour of uploading the pic of Jaidi where he goes in so hard for a header it actually looks like his face is falling off...?

Sounds like the club have a role for him to play still as there is going to be an announcement from the club specifically about his future

Still remember his run in L1 where he picked up the ball at the edge of our box, took it out, laid it off and ran the length of the pitch to meet and almost score from the resulting cross.

Watching him recover for breath after only made it more epic.

Wonder if he is staying around - the tweets from Lallana and Dickson seemed pretty final. Hope he does...

I walked past him outside the last game v Coventry - close up he looks huge.

Congratulations to Rahdi, a well deserved appointment and a big sign of what the club has planned for the future. For me Radhi is our good luck charm, who's arrival saw the start of our good fortune. That he will remain with the club is a wonderful omen. Radhi is a true Saint who has given everything to the game, to the club.

***Not only can Radhi be followed on Twitter but his Facebook is a reminder of what huge star and wonderful career he has enjoyed. Well done, every good luck for the future.

Couple of interesting quotes from Reed

"One of our ambitions is to set up academies overseas so essentially we will always be looking to identify talent wherever we can.

"We don't want to go down the route of buying established top-class players from all around the world and flooding our team like that. If we do bring young players in from abroad, it will be to bring them in the Southampton way.
