kwsaint Posted 19 May, 2012 Posted 19 May, 2012 Ranging from his Twitter posts to his footballing career, it will be a shame that Jaidi is leaving. It's not really a suprise to anyone but he has been a great defender and the only person in the saints squad who has ever featured in a world cup. He will be missed.
Turkish Posted 19 May, 2012 Posted 19 May, 2012 Considering there is a press conference on Monday to announce his retirement and future plans I would think he's being given a coaching role. But yes, seems like a good guy.
Saint Garrett Posted 19 May, 2012 Posted 19 May, 2012 Dont think he's leaving, he'll be part of the coaching set up no doubt.
doddisalegend Posted 19 May, 2012 Posted 19 May, 2012 I haven't seen to many players with such poor ball control with their feet...but then I haven't seen many who could head a ball like Jaidi either.
Benali Saint Posted 19 May, 2012 Posted 19 May, 2012 I've met him a couple of times. He is a really nice bloke. Always happy to talk and have photos taken. Top Bloke
Bad Wolf Posted 19 May, 2012 Posted 19 May, 2012 The flat I used to live in was owned by an Indian family who owned the local curry house. We used to go down there a few times a month (always got one a month on the house) and one time I walked in and he was in there. Had a great long chat with him over a pint, was a lovely guy, was saying how much he loves the area. Got talking to my landlord about this a few days later and he said that Radhi often comes in there for a curry and a pint and that one time there was a fight breaking out there and Rahdi took one of the lads to one side, had a drink with him and calmed him down by just chatting to him about football. Top bloke all round.
ottery st mary Posted 19 May, 2012 Posted 19 May, 2012 In view of that...Head of security..done deal;)
Saint Garrett Posted 19 May, 2012 Posted 19 May, 2012 Sounds like a top bloke and a great guy to have around the place. Also seems like the joker of the pack. Glad he didnt play much this season though, as I think he would have been terrorised.
VectisSaint Posted 19 May, 2012 Posted 19 May, 2012 the only person in the saints squad who has ever featured in a world cup. He will be missed. Connolly played for Ireland in 2002, missed penalty in shoot out in 2nd round against Spain. Rahdi will be missed but in the end he didn't play one single game last season, which was a sad way to end a career. I know it won't happen but would be nice to give Rahdi and DC a send off in a friendly pre-season.
ericofarabia Posted 19 May, 2012 Posted 19 May, 2012 I'm sure they could make room for him in The Club's Laundry or Typing department.
Foxstone Posted 19 May, 2012 Posted 19 May, 2012 Brilliant guy Raidi - Made a fantastic contribution on the pitch, I will never forget when we played Leeds at home in our first season in League 1 that he marked Beckford out of the game completely. In fact the much hyped Mr Beckford spent much of the game on his arse, so dominant was Raidi. he will have much to offer as a coach wherever it may be
(not THE) Kevin Moore Posted 19 May, 2012 Posted 19 May, 2012 Always had a cheaky quid on jaidi as first goal scorer when he played. Strikes me as a top bloke and a model pro, pleased that it looks like he's being kept around in some capacity.
saints-cris Posted 19 May, 2012 Posted 19 May, 2012 He was exactly what we needed when we got him. He made such a difference to what was a fairly lightweight defence at the time.
chocco boxo Posted 19 May, 2012 Posted 19 May, 2012 Working alongside Dodd. He would be ideal bringing the kids along.
doc oli Posted 19 May, 2012 Posted 19 May, 2012 Foreign Ambassador - a la Viera. Spread the global brand of Saints
rooney Posted 19 May, 2012 Posted 19 May, 2012 Great Guy and could do a good job for us in another role now. Pardew was extremely complimentary about him him he first signed for us. I think there was a problem with a work permit.
hamster Posted 19 May, 2012 Posted 19 May, 2012 I'm sure they could make room for him in The Club's Laundry or Typing department. I got it Eric. 'twas me who broke the story.
saintscottofthenortham Posted 20 May, 2012 Posted 20 May, 2012 Met him on the train once. Really nice bloke and its only up close you appreciate just what a beast the guy is. A shame to see him retire after a great playing career. Watched him put in some absolutely spectacular performances for us. I'm sure someone will do the honour of uploading the pic of Jaidi where he goes in so hard for a header it actually looks like his face is falling off...?

Nige is off to Scouse land. completely made up FACT
sammysaint Posted 20 May, 2012 Posted 20 May, 2012 RJ was a beast, 6ft hench monster not many would be able to out muscle him, hope he stays as a 1st team coach.
davefizzy14 Posted 20 May, 2012 Posted 20 May, 2012 Radhi an all round top guy and class defender, like somebody said in an earlier post, we got him in at just the right time when our defence needed a dominant force. Hope he does stay on in some capacity
shurlock Posted 20 May, 2012 Posted 20 May, 2012 Still remember his run in L1 where he picked up the ball at the edge of our box, took it out, laid it off and ran the length of the pitch to meet and almost score from the resulting cross. Watching him recover for breath after only made it more epic. Wonder if he is staying around - the tweets from Lallana and Dickson seemed pretty final. Hope he does...
ulstersaint Posted 20 May, 2012 Posted 20 May, 2012 Met him on the train once. Really nice bloke and its only up close you appreciate just what a beast the guy is. I walked past him outside the last game v Coventry - close up he looks huge.
Saint-Reece Posted 21 May, 2012 Posted 21 May, 2012 Jim Lucas @JFBLucas Radhi Jaidi will be taking up an ambassadorial role with #SaintsFC to develop the club's links in Africa. More on http://www.saintsfc.co.uk soon.

More on http://www.saintsfc.co.uk soon. First stop for Jaidi should be that chap in Africa that someone on here posted about the other week (sorry, the details allude me)
ThreeSixty Posted 21 May, 2012 Posted 21 May, 2012 Seems a bit low key but not too suprised its not coaching, he is still too much 'one of the lads'.
Saint_Jonny Posted 21 May, 2012 Posted 21 May, 2012 First stop for Jaidi should be that chap in Africa that someone on here posted about the other week (sorry, the details allude me) this!
ART Posted 21 May, 2012 Posted 21 May, 2012 Congratulations to Rahdi, a well deserved appointment and a big sign of what the club has planned for the future. For me Radhi is our good luck charm, who's arrival saw the start of our good fortune. That he will remain with the club is a wonderful omen. Radhi is a true Saint who has given everything to the game, to the club. ***Not only can Radhi be followed on Twitter but his Facebook is a reminder of what huge star and wonderful career he has enjoyed. Well done, every good luck for the future.
Crisp Posted 21 May, 2012 Posted 21 May, 2012 I met him on the train back from Wycombe with Papa Waigo. He is a really sound bloke, very polite and friendly, and was happy to chat to me. Not a bad player either.
Saint-Armstrong Posted 21 May, 2012 Posted 21 May, 2012 http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10280~2782391,00.html
Saint Charlie Posted 21 May, 2012 Posted 21 May, 2012 http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10280~2782391,00.html Impressive plans.
JackFrost Posted 21 May, 2012 Posted 21 May, 2012 Great lad and player. I seem to remember him scoring in the 2006 World Cup for Tunisia to snatch a draw against Saudi Arabia
Saint_John Posted 21 May, 2012 Posted 21 May, 2012 http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10280~2782391,00.html Couple of interesting quotes from Reed "One of our ambitions is to set up academies overseas so essentially we will always be looking to identify talent wherever we can. "We don't want to go down the route of buying established top-class players from all around the world and flooding our team like that. If we do bring young players in from abroad, it will be to bring them in the Southampton way.
Matthew Le God Posted 21 May, 2012 Posted 21 May, 2012 As this thread is about "Radhi Jaidi - All round great guy", I think another thread to discuss what Les Reed is outlining is worthwhile... http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/showthread.php?38155-French-Africa-Southampton-after-a-slice
Turkish Posted 21 May, 2012 Posted 21 May, 2012 They're right in saying Jaidi is a legend in Tunisia. I remember going there a few years ago on holiday and the shops were full of Jaidi shirts and all the locals wanted to talk about him. Smart move.
