Danbert Posted 18 May, 2012 Share Posted 18 May, 2012 At Norwich, 31-year-old Grant Holt has put in a transfer request, presumably because this is the only chance he's going to get to make an absolute packet, and Paul Lambert is being linked with moves away, just as Brendan Rogers, incidentally, has recently rejected an approach by Liverpool. http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2012/may/18/grant-holt-norwich-city-transfer-request

ericb Posted 18 May, 2012 Share Posted 18 May, 2012 Don't be stupid, we're going to build a 50,000 stadium and win the champions league. In fact in three years players like Messi will be begging at our feet to come here due to our massive catchment area and incredible potential that clubs like Norwich, Everton and Chelsea can only dream of. Saints at the moment are more about gelling than they are raw talent. Gelling alone won't keep us up, so we have to buy......But we have to be bloody careful about who we buy. I'm sure there will be a lot of raised eyebrows at some of our signings.

Now I appreciate he's in the later years of his career and would want to secure his families future but if he's putting in a request based on increasing his money, shame on him. Even if he's on 'only' £20k a week this year and next that amounts to around £50k a month in the hand - not too shabby.

Danbert Posted 19 May, 2012 Author Share Posted 19 May, 2012 What I was thinking was if we're to be run along sustainable lines and if we're successful other clubs will covet our prize assets. If Adkins was linked with a team like Liverpool it'd be a huge step up for him - two years ago the guy was managing S****horpe. If Rickie gets linked with an established Premier League outfit or a club that plays silly money it's going to be his last chance to make that kind of a move. It would be naive to think that we won't become a selling club again.

Lord Duckhunter Posted 19 May, 2012 Share Posted 19 May, 2012 It's either for more money, or he's been tapped up. If Rickie scores a hatful next season and then wants move, good luck to him. John Boy Saint Posted 19 May, 2012 Share Posted 19 May, 2012 I know from someone who heard it from the highest level, if you fit the bill every effort to keep you will be made. To replace Lallana for example would cost in excess £5+ so rather than sell him pay him the money to keep him. Lets just say a corner has been turned since ML & NC entered the building
