Us in three years time?

At Norwich, 31-year-old Grant Holt has put in a transfer request, presumably because this is the only chance he's going to get to make an absolute packet, and Paul Lambert is being linked with moves away, just as Brendan Rogers, incidentally, has recently rejected an approach by Liverpool.

Don't be stupid, we're going to build a 50,000 stadium and win the champions league. In fact in three years players like Messi will be begging at our feet to come here due to our massive catchment area and incredible potential that clubs like Norwich, Everton and Chelsea can only dream of.

I see where you're coming from, but I doubt Lambert would get offered much more elsewhere than we'd be prepared to pay him.

Yep. Saints at the moment are more about gelling than they are raw talent. Gelling alone won't keep us up, so we have to buy......But we have to be bloody careful about who we buy. I'm sure there will be a lot of raised eyebrows at some of our signings.

I'm sure he's earning an 'absolute packet' at Norwich, relatively speaking. Now I appreciate he's in the later years of his career and would want to secure his families future but if he's putting in a request based on increasing his money, shame on him. Even if he's on 'only' £20k a week this year and next that amounts to around £50k a month in the hand - not too shabby.

This is what we should be aiming for, and I 100% agree. Dream and aim for the top!

I'd be surprised if Colchester made it to the Premier League in three years...

Fu.ck sake it's negative people like you that mean the Us will never succeed, can't you see the move the Colchester Community Stadium was just the start of a plan to win the champions league with a 50,000 stadium. In fact in three years players like Messi will be begging at thier feet to play there due to their massive catchment area and incredible potential that clubs like Norwich, Everton and Chelsea can only dream of.

You're just stuck in a small time Layer Road mentality

It was their failure to keep Michail Antonio that swung it for me. No ambition, and Sheffield Wednesday are raping the rewards.

What I was thinking was if we're to be run along sustainable lines and if we're successful other clubs will covet our prize assets. If Adkins was linked with a team like Liverpool it'd be a huge step up for him - two years ago the guy was managing S****horpe. If Rickie gets linked with an established Premier League outfit or a club that plays silly money it's going to be his last chance to make that kind of a move. It would be naive to think that we won't become a selling club again.

All clubs are selling clubs it is just the price that changes

it was on 5live last night with a local journo that Holt is NOT the highest earner and that is what this is about.

morrison, Vaughan are on more...holt asked for a new contract and was told no

Okay but in the last two seasons we've been the big fish in the small pool nicking the other clubs best players - from the end of next season we can expect to risk losing our best players to bigger clubs as some of them will have made an impact on the Premier League.

I know from someone who heard it from the highest level, if you fit the bill every effort to keep you will be made.

To replace Lallana for example would cost in excess £5+ so rather than sell him pay him the money to keep him.

Lets just say a corner has been turned since ML & NC entered the building

Sounds mostly like greed

love this from his agent

"It's not about money. It's not all about money. Obviously money comes into the scenario - it always does.

No reason not to think some of our players won't feel the same a season down the line...don't expect them to get very far with NC though.

Agreed... to an extent. However if he is genuinely looking for a move away I wouldn't be surprised, given the timing, if it was partly about furthering his England prospects.

Why not?

Plenty of our players gained new, improved contracts as we moved through the leagues, usually a fair bit before their current deal expired.

Lamberts at a club with more potential and him and every other player here at Saints would be silly to leave unless its a top 6 club, Everton Villa Sunderland are the ones you would debate as they have potential to break top 6 but if your happy you would stay at SMS.

Do you think when we win the champions league, John Terry will come on and celebrate with us, just like he did recently when he did nothing to secure the win?
