Dimond Geezer Posted 17 May, 2012 Share Posted 17 May, 2012 Not my thing, (but it is for many people) although Hot Stuff is pretty good. 63 is no age. Rip
Ohio Saint Posted 17 May, 2012 Share Posted 17 May, 2012 I used to wonder what she looked like naked. Then I got older and saw what women are supposed to look like naked. Just as well she never did a Playboy shoot, really.
dubai_phil Posted 17 May, 2012 Share Posted 17 May, 2012 Sad news that. Last time I saw her was on an American Idol finale a few years back. Will never forget her album Love to Love you Baby (showing my age) - was just the perfect ****ing track back in my Yoof
John Boy Saint Posted 17 May, 2012 Share Posted 17 May, 2012 Blimey that finishing line keeps getting closer. State of Independance popped into my head as soon as I saw the opening post. RIP Donna Summer: like Phil, one of the artists on the soundtrack of my life.

Fowllyd Posted 18 May, 2012 Share Posted 18 May, 2012 Sad news that. Last time I saw her was on an American Idol finale a few years back. Will never forget her album Love to Love you Baby (showing my age) - was just the perfect ****ing track back in my Yoof That song always brings to my mind the image of Alison Steadman in the opening scene of Abigail's Party, G&T in one hand, ciggie in the other, dancing round her living room. Sets the scene superbly for the theatrical carnage which follows. RIP Donna - you made some terrific records.
Foxstone Posted 18 May, 2012 Share Posted 18 May, 2012 (edited) For me she was the greatest female singer of the 1970's (perhaps just ahead of Debbir Harry) - Loved her at the time. Very sad and may she RIP. Edited 18 May, 2012 by Foxstone
bridge too far Posted 18 May, 2012 Share Posted 18 May, 2012 One of the cabaret dance groups I performed with was called 'Hot Stuff' - guess what our intro number was? We also did a very raunchy number to 'Love to Love You, Baby'. Somewhere in the archive for Tom Bargate's column for the Echo there's an article and pic of our 'Hot Stuff'. She was the first and greatest disco diva IMO and her music provided dance groups like ours with a wealth of material. Very sad

Very sad and may she RIP. Although most would class Aretha Franklin,Linda Rondstadt and Carole King far ahead of either of them to name but 3.Music is all about appreciation though is it not. Indeed it is - Although not my personal favourite of her songs I thought that I Feel Love was quite groundbreaking at the time!
