doddisalegend Posted 17 May, 2012 Posted 17 May, 2012 ......after he didn't come to saints last season I'd given up hope but it seems just as we hit the PL Michael becomes avaliable on a free it must be fate.........anyone seen him in Winchester yet:lol: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/18101799

sfc1976 Posted 17 May, 2012 Posted 17 May, 2012 He'll probably find some mugs who want to pay him to sit around injured betting on horses I suppose. Just hope it's not us!
Colinjb Posted 17 May, 2012 Posted 17 May, 2012 He'll be off for a pint in the Wykeham arms then to consider his options.
The9 Posted 17 May, 2012 Posted 17 May, 2012 I am in Winchester and can confirm I haven't seen him yet.
Pugwash Posted 17 May, 2012 Posted 17 May, 2012 Perhaps all he needs to get fit is a decent physio...
This Charming Man Posted 17 May, 2012 Posted 17 May, 2012 I reckon he'll go off to somewhere in the UAE. Pick up a monster wage and combine it with his love of horse racing.
S-Clarke Posted 17 May, 2012 Posted 17 May, 2012 To be honest to me it seems as if he's lost all hunger for football, alot of his time is devoted in horses. He's a good football person, but not much of a player anymore it's sad to say. He will possibly retire.

Would've no doubt gone on to be one of England's all time greats otherwise.

Would agree with that, he was right up there in 2000 with the best strikers in the world. Let's hope Jack Wiltshire's career isn't similar....as he's now suffered a serious knee injury, on top of his constant ankle injuries.
doddisalegend Posted 17 May, 2012 Author Posted 17 May, 2012 I see the Owen to saints bandwagon has started rolling John Roberts@gingeybabes Owen to Saints would be perfect. Lambert's touch and ability combined with Owen's movement and finishing would be deadly. #bbcsportsday Lets lobby the club and make this a reality ....after all with Lee Holmes and (most likely) David Connolly leaving the Medical room needs a new occupant....
Big_Bald_Si Posted 17 May, 2012 Posted 17 May, 2012 I was wondering how long before a Michael Owen thread started on here...... It won't happen.
dannysfc Posted 17 May, 2012 Posted 17 May, 2012 I for one would love him to come here tbh But am not sure if I can see it happening as I think that him n Lambert would start a Great partnership But we'l see!!! If he does come then we'd have to get rid of Guly or someone But we'l see!!! COYR!!!
This Charming Man Posted 17 May, 2012 Posted 17 May, 2012 next Liverpool manager surely Assistant to Adkins maybe?
This Charming Man Posted 17 May, 2012 Posted 17 May, 2012 http://www.skybet.com/football/transfer-specials/event/14012110 Surprised such short odds on Everton. Did he support them as a kid or is he on a quest to try and infuriate Liverpool fans as much as possible? Next he'll be writing a column in The Sun and singing the national anthem.
Avenue Saint Posted 17 May, 2012 Posted 17 May, 2012 Stuff him. Remember what he said after the cup game. Condescending little idiot. Plus he's ****e now anyway, not half the player lee is.
Minty Posted 17 May, 2012 Posted 17 May, 2012 I am in Winchester and can confirm I haven't seen him yet. I'm not in Winchester but can confirm that I won't see him when I am back home there later either...
Webby Posted 17 May, 2012 Posted 17 May, 2012 32? Tbh, I thought he was older. I say he'd be worth a gamble for the right wage. Our strikers could learn a lot from him. His finishing and movement are world class and he's got vast experience at the highest level.
Dellman Posted 17 May, 2012 Posted 17 May, 2012 He wont settle for the right wage and in any case he's the very sort of over the hill injury prone luxury we don't want,,,Tandari Lee has the future
sotonjoe Posted 17 May, 2012 Posted 17 May, 2012 I honestly think any Prem club willing to take a punt on him has more money than sense, given the size of the wages I expect he'll still demand.
notnowcato Posted 17 May, 2012 Posted 17 May, 2012 I'd have him on a Pay as you play contract. Rickie, Chung and Billy would all benefit from having him around.
Doctoroncall Posted 17 May, 2012 Posted 17 May, 2012 I reckon he'll go off to somewhere in the UAE. Pick up a monster wage and combine it with his love of horse racing. That would suit him perfectly.
Ohio Saint Posted 17 May, 2012 Posted 17 May, 2012 It's going to be a lot harder now for saints to find players that are PL quality, but without the prima donna attitude that comes with it.
Denzil Posted 17 May, 2012 Posted 17 May, 2012 There's no way he will come here, shut this thread down, it's an embarrassment.
Thedelldays Posted 17 May, 2012 Posted 17 May, 2012 http://www.talksport.co.uk/magazine/big-picture/120517/michael-owens-sensational-manchester-united-career-pictures-172270
doddisalegend Posted 17 May, 2012 Author Posted 17 May, 2012 There's no way he will come here, shut this thread down, it's an embarrassment. wooosh....
doddisalegend Posted 17 May, 2012 Author Posted 17 May, 2012 http://www.talksport.co.uk/magazine/big-picture/120517/michael-owens-sensational-manchester-united-career-pictures-172270 Haha thats good...and pretty accurate
ericofarabia Posted 17 May, 2012 Posted 17 May, 2012 I reckon he'll go off to somewhere in the UAE. Pick up a monster wage and combine it with his love of horse racing. I am in Dubai and can confirm that he isn't in my kitchen or lounge.
notnowcato Posted 17 May, 2012 Posted 17 May, 2012 I am in Dubai and can confirm that he isn't in my kitchen or lounge. Have you checked your stables??
Denzil Posted 17 May, 2012 Posted 17 May, 2012 wooosh.... No, not 'woosh'. We have plenty of deluded fans who think he'll be on the next plane to Soton. Threads like these just make us look like idiots.
skintsaint Posted 17 May, 2012 Posted 17 May, 2012 Reading the article on the BBC it looks to me as he is setting his sights on lower league teams as he knows the top teams won't touch him. Would he be worth a pay as you play type deal?...I think thats all he'll get to be honest. I think we could get him if we wanted to, can't see him demanding that massive a salary anymore. Someone like Villa or Wigan will get him. I wouldn't want him here personally. Lee, Lambert, Sharp, Guly and a proven top league striker would do me (not Owen).
Whitey Grandad Posted 17 May, 2012 Posted 17 May, 2012 I am in Dubai and can confirm that he isn't in my kitchen or lounge. Never believe a rumour until it's denied.
Matthew Le God Posted 17 May, 2012 Posted 17 May, 2012 From a TV show a while ago, but it doesn't portray Owen in a good light if we want him to mentor young Saints strikers... Michael Owen "Yeah, get in there!" Neville Southall "Well done, he's 13"
doddisalegend Posted 17 May, 2012 Author Posted 17 May, 2012 No, not 'woosh'. We have plenty of deluded fans who think he'll be on the next plane to Soton. Threads like these just make us look like idiots. Really? how many can you see on here who actually think he is coming ...
adrian lord Posted 17 May, 2012 Posted 17 May, 2012 The sun set on his career about 4 years ago. Why the heck would we want him here? Polar opposite of our ethos and culture under Adkins/Cortese.
This Charming Man Posted 17 May, 2012 Posted 17 May, 2012 From a TV show a while ago, but it doesn't portray Owen in a good light if we want him to mentor young Saints strikers... Michael Owen "Yeah, get in there!" Neville Southall "Well done, he's 13" What's wrong with that? He was quite clearly mucking about.
Matthew Le God Posted 17 May, 2012 Posted 17 May, 2012 What's wrong with that? He was quite clearly mucking about. Not exactly tactful or confidence building for a 13 year old was it? Neville Southall doesn't seem to agree with you.

Matthew Le God Posted 17 May, 2012 Posted 17 May, 2012 You are a dweeb. You resort to petty personal insults when confronted with questions you can't or don't want to answer.
Dan Posted 17 May, 2012 Posted 17 May, 2012 Rumour has it he has was spotted in Hedge End M & S this afternoon.
S-Clarke Posted 17 May, 2012 Posted 17 May, 2012 Not exactly tactful or confidence building for a 13 year old was it? Neville Southall doesn't seem to agree with you. For goodness sake, you can't read anything into that.
