MINIBARCELONASAINT Posted 17 May, 2012 Share Posted 17 May, 2012 I had a pitch booked for this Saturday at The Garrison Ground Winchester as it was one of few places still with their goals up. However, they've now cancelled on us due to some festival or whatever. I've tried my usual fallback plans, such as the leisure centres in Southampton and although the goals are still up they say they're moving to cricket and so we cannot book a pitch. Tempted to use them anyway if goals are still up when I check Friday night, but would much rather have an official pitch booked. Does anyone have any suggestions or know of a pitch within the Southampton area that still has its goals up and available to book? Thanks in advance, Jordan
Gemmel Posted 17 May, 2012 Share Posted 17 May, 2012 The newly opened, revamped and top quality "Test Park", still has goals up. As does Hardmoor. It is unlikely they will let you rent Hardmoor, unless any of your lot has any links to Solent, but you might get lucky with Test Park (Not sure how long it will stay that way, but quite impressive)
Saint Mikey Posted 17 May, 2012 Share Posted 17 May, 2012 Test Park is a Wessex standard pitch, they're not going to let any Tom, **** or Harry rent it out I'm afraid. As for Hardmoor, I'm not sure, but you could always phone Solent and ask. PM me if you need a contact name or number.

Dimond Geezer Posted 17 May, 2012 Share Posted 17 May, 2012 Try The Chilworth Arms (The Clump Inn), or The Plough in Portsmouth Rd, both used to keep their pitches up over the summer. It's many years since I played on either, but it may be worth a phone call, or try astro-pitches (The Sports Centre, Trojans, Cantell School, The School in Chandlers Ford etc). 70's Mike Posted 17 May, 2012 Share Posted 17 May, 2012 Try The Chilworth Arms (The Clump Inn), or The Plough in Portsmouth Rd, both used to keep their pitches up over the summer. Plough has not had a pitch for years, most Councils shut down on 1 May for football pitches, the two I control in Warsash are not available due to a six a side tournament and annual maintence on the other. i believe Totton's ground can be hired at £120 per game
MINIBARCELONASAINT Posted 18 May, 2012 Author Share Posted 18 May, 2012 As is the nature of the beast I now have a pitch - and thank you for all your suggestions - however the referee has now dropped out. The game is a 10am kick off at Brockenhurst College. Would anyone fancy refereeing for £25? Thanks, Jordan
