niceandfriendly Posted 6 June, 2012 Posted 6 June, 2012 Agreed. We have to say that IF he was that good, surely a Prem. club would have picked him up already. Never really agree with these types of statements. Why is it that Saints couldn't possibly spot a decent player and purchase them before a Prem club comes in? Would people have said the same about Lambert? Tadanari Lee? They're both good examples of players we're looking forward to seeing playing in the Premier League but weren't picked up by a higher club.

Winchester Red Posted 6 June, 2012 Posted 6 June, 2012 Ha - reminds me of an old Dilbert Comic Strip Pointy haired boss says to Dilbert 'I know it looks like a good idea but it can't be because if it was someone else would have had it already' Doh!
david in sweden Posted 6 June, 2012 Posted 6 June, 2012 (edited) He looked pretty damn good against us! OK ..you take the other view (as Jimbo Jones 10 wrote on #47 )....said he wasn't any better than what we had already. Personally, I haven't seen him play, and so it was just an observation on my part. Edited 6 June, 2012 by david in sweden
david in sweden Posted 6 June, 2012 Posted 6 June, 2012 Why is it that Saints couldn't possibly spot a decent player and purchase them before a Prem club comes in? QUOTE] IF he (Trotter) really is a decent player..then I really hope we can, but the media these days (often manipulated by agents) always tries to drag in other clubs and force up the price.
itchen_dan Posted 9 June, 2012 Posted 9 June, 2012 (edited) Nothing major but just a little find. Found the lads agent on Twitter. You never know what you may uncover... danbsfc: @Agent_mb Ok thanks. Another one, been a few rumours of Liam Trotter to #saintsfc? Anything? Agent_mb: @danbsfc i am Liam's agent .... No comment danbsfc: @Agent_mb Really? I hadn't noticed… Fair enough. Just seeing if I could prise anything out of you. Agent_mb: @danbsfc not about that I'm afraid Edited 9 June, 2012 by itchen_dan

vince Posted 12 June, 2012 Posted 12 June, 2012 Good try BTW, but for me .....this ....is the most telling comment..... what is it about then ?.. Isn't that just the agent telling dan that he won't talk about his client on twitter, but was happy to discuss other things - that's how I read it, anyway.

Saint_clark Posted 4 November, 2012 Posted 4 November, 2012 Reeks of lazy journalism once again, going over old ground.
the saint in winchester Posted 5 November, 2012 Posted 5 November, 2012 Hmm, Daily Mirror, not the most reliable of sources. As for the content ... I hope he is a defensive combative midfielder, not another attacking midfielder. I don't want to hear he scores 15 goals a season. Rather hear he picked up a dozen yellow cards and is a Robbie Savage type player.

We are ok going forward and in the centre....
Saint Without a Halo Posted 5 November, 2012 Posted 5 November, 2012 Regardless, he is not a defender. There truly is only one area we need to focus on in January. We are ok going forward and in the centre.... However good hard ball winners in midfield reduce your defensive exposure. It is always said you defend as a team! The likes of Ball Williams, Case etc always added good defensive bite!
SuperMikey Posted 5 November, 2012 Posted 5 November, 2012 However good hard ball winners in midfield reduce your defensive exposure. It is always said you defend as a team! The likes of Ball Williams, Case etc always added good defensive bite! I think that is what we're missing from our midfield tbh, even though we're pretty capable there already. He's more than just a clogger though, very technically able. Would be a great signing for £2m, although I agree the focus HAS to be on the defence.
krissyboy31 Posted 5 November, 2012 Posted 5 November, 2012 Can he play CB? No! Can he play LB? Debatable! Have we got half a dozen central midfield players better than him? Probably! Is he going to make a difference to our season? definitely not! Don't think there's much going for this really!
The Cat Posted 5 November, 2012 Posted 5 November, 2012 Good player, scored a cracker on Saturday at Forest. I'd buy him in January basically because he'd stay when we get relegated and would be a top player next season!
Leicestersaint Posted 5 November, 2012 Posted 5 November, 2012 Not another midfield player!! We need a defence.
Dazza82 Posted 5 November, 2012 Posted 5 November, 2012 In all Fairness is he better than say Chaplow or Hammond? If he is then is he going to get past Cork,Davis and Schniederlin?
VectisSaint Posted 5 November, 2012 Posted 5 November, 2012 Rather hear he picked up a dozen yellow cards and is a Robbie Savage type player. Why would be want a complete wuss like Savage (Savage by name but not by nature).
eelpie Posted 5 November, 2012 Posted 5 November, 2012 Good player, scored a cracker on Saturday at Forest. I'd buy him in January basically because he'd stay when we get relegated and would be a top player next season! Except that Palace are just as likely to be going up
Mr X Posted 5 November, 2012 Posted 5 November, 2012 Great signing we are very short on midfielders especially championship quality ones
SaintSteve Posted 5 November, 2012 Posted 5 November, 2012 Regardless, he is not a defender. There truly is only one area we need to focus on in January. We are ok going forward and in the centre.... No, we are not OK.. we are lightweight and he would bring strength in midfield.. plus a couple of defenders and that's January.
The Majestic Channon Posted 5 November, 2012 Posted 5 November, 2012 I will be at millwall v derby saturday, will see how impressive he is
kpturner Posted 5 November, 2012 Posted 5 November, 2012 Did he score that screamer of theirs? Did they score a screamer or did I imagine that? You imagined it. He scored the first goal.
