why will they get weaker.....?

maybe they will throw up another £18m for another player...something we certainly won't be doing[/QUOTE]

How come mlg is not allows to speculate and/or exaggerate his opinion even allowing for his thoughts being nothing other than his thoughts or opinions yet it's okay to state what our upper limit re single transfers is?

How much will we spend on a single transfer this summer, shall we agree on a figure to within £1/2m. No, let's make it £2m tin the interests of fairness.

I like reading people's thoughts but don't quite get why others scour the forum like sharks hunting down their preyy

Carry on of course, I am just saying.

And I won't be going round and round in circles responding to you. Lol.

Fwiw IMHO liverpoolz problems are due them dropping their boot room philosophy. Our successes are partly down to sticking with ours, now and in the past.

Yeah, it's odd.

Everyone is speculating, and that's fair enough. Not quite sure why the abuse/sarcasm is justified.

After a year or 2 in the premiership we will obviously be playing in the Champions league the new stadium will be well progressed or completely Built (what is happening at Stoneham?) so why would Adkins want to go back up north to an antiquated stadium and a team that has more than likely just escaped relegation.

We're not in the Premiership, and we're not likely to be unless Barclays rebrand the competition again, or there's a new sponsor for the Premier League who wants to change its name, or we start playing rugby.

As for the rest of it, Liverpool's fanbase and profile won't have sunk much, who knows whether the Fenway lot will still be there and he'll always be a scouser with affection for Liverpool, so much of it isn't going to go away anyway. Yeah sure, if Saints become awesome it might delay it, just as if we go to poop he may never be considered - and the timing may never be quite right either, but Liverpool being consistently better than us over the next 5 years is probably more likely than us being consistently better than them at the moment. Though it is a lot closer than their fans might like to admit, and only one of us is progressing.

Liverpool have not made any contact about Adkins. FACT!

Now can somebody please lock this rediculous thread.

Maybe we could thread drift it into a discussion about the ridiculous spelling of ridiculous, which would at least serve some kind of purpose.

Never look at a manager without top-flight experience?

A short list is now bring drawn up but no indication was given on who would feature. Ayre did deny that they'd only be considering candidates who'd managed at the top level before and says the club will base their decision on "who fits with the owners vision of Liverpool FC."

As a manager proven at (Welsh) Premier League level he will still very much be in remit. ;)

Does seem an odd thing for their MD to say. If they are looking at people without top-flight experience, then they probably are considering Nigel for their shortlist.

So apart from Dune claiming to be ITK, does this thread have any element of truth at all? Or is it just trolling?

No-one knows.

Not only a great QOTSA song, but also a true statement here.

Just to confirm the ridiculousness of this thread, paddy power have Adkins at 80/1, on a par with Owen Coyle. His odds are even longer than Steven Gerrard at 66/1. Wind up thread should be closed really.

So the thread should be closed based on speculation?

There's a certain symmetry to it. It was opened based on speculation too.

Why is it a wind-up just because I won't reveal my source?

I wonder what odds Adkins was to take over here, the day after Pardew sacking?

Cotteril was the initial favourite. They're not always right.

No, I'm not interested in anyones source but it's a long time since someone the bookies rate at 80/1 got a big time job. They might not always be right but they have more collective insight than one guy on SWF. Put it this way, if he is Appointed Pool manager i'll eat a few mouthfulls of my Saints hat. It's the least I could do if I was wrong after calling your thread ridiculous!!

Pardew was about a billion to one to get the Newcastle job

Appointing Adkins would not help them get the fans back on their side. I'm not saying Adkins is a bad manager at all, but he hasn't - yet - quite got the profile of a manager that they'd expect.

AvB is a sound choice. Very talented manager, but was given incredibly tough conditions to work in at Chelsea. Would be good to see him get given another chance, and possibly the opportunity and scope to rebuild a club.

To put this in yet more perspective, people will currently (gladly) give you 600/1 on Betfair....

Does that mean that Adkins is 1.6 million times more likely to get the LFC job than billion-to-one Pardew was to get Newcastle? :)

LFC seem to be throwing curve balls and trying to get the press off on one. They will not employ a mananger Who is not a big name. No way.

Just keeping the net wide, or so the press, and Saints fans think!

If they do not employ a big name and a manager with experience I will eat my hat.

If they employ a big name manager, how much do you think that will cost FSG? There is possible compensation if they're poaching a manager from another club. Most would want assurances on decent resources to chase their own targets. Liverpool's transfer budget for next year is 30M. Not sure that is going to be enough to tempt the biggest names.

AVB looks to be the biggest name they are likely to get. Not sure that the likes of Klopp, etc - are going to want to swap the Champions League to be the nth person to try and revive Liverpool's flagging fortunes. LFC may do well looking at Frank De Boer - won the Eredivise twice in a row now, and might see Anfield as a step up.

If you fancy a laugh, the #lfc feed on Twitter is fecking hilarious atm. A few sensible people but many on meltdown! :)

The RAWK (Red & White Kop) Meltdown twitter is better; choice cuts from their main fans forum. So deluded and nuts that I'm still not convinced its not made up.

Liverpool FC have stated that they are interviewing a number of candidates.

@DrWho - are you feeling any more certain about your prediction that Liverpool will hire a big name manager?

They're confirmed as interested in Martinez, and while he's well-liked, the only thing he's actually won is league one promotion. Nige has won four promotions in five years at two different clubs. The only advantage that Martinez has over him is top-flight experience, and let's face it, Wigan were not great over the season.

I would say they were to be honest..keeping that team up is a miracle
