how do you know there isn't any...do you work for villa..?

like there was NO WAY west ham were going to spend any money last summer...yep, that is what was preached on here..

West Ham took a huge risk - the kind that put the Skates where they now are. Lerner isn't that stupid - only my opinion of course.

Do you think the following would get in Saints squad?

Shay Given

Alan Hutton

Stephen Warnock

James Collins

Stephen Ireland

Jermaine Jenas

Charles N'Zogbia

Marc Alrighton

Fabian Delph

Stiliyan Petrov

Darren Bent

Gabby Abonglahor

Nathan Delfonso

2011/12

16th Aston Villa GD -16 PTS 38

They aren't as great as you think.

but we were constantly told they would spend no money and would have to sell sell sell....villa may be in debt..but they have very rich owners too

If anyone seriously believes a club the size of Liverpool would go for a guy who has not even managed 1 minute of football in The Premiership is off their trolley.

They will either go with a foreign manager from a top league or someone with Prem experience.

You think Man Utd would appoint Brian McDermott ? Same thing.

How many would get in our squad?

Massively underperformed due to a crap manager. Even your autistic responses cannot deny that.

Because I can't see a single factor that makes Lerner seem better. He has led them to huge debts of over £100m, crowds of 33k in a 42k stadium and a relegation fight.

that is a poor manager, to which they quickly got rid of....dont forget NC led us to 22nd in league 1

How many minutes of La Liga management experience did Pep Guardiola have before Barca appointed him?

Crowds bigger than we can possibly achieve at the moment due to our unambitious chairman not having the ground expanded in time for the Premier League. So there is one.

Fans are voting with their feet. They didn't want Mcleish, for obvious reasons, and refused to pay money to watch his sh1t brand of football. Or is that too hard for you to understand?

- Saints averaged, 30,610 in a 32,689 capacity stadium in the season they came 20th and were relegated.

- Aston Villa averaged 33k in a 42k stadium in a season they came 16th and stayed up.

Had Saints had a 42k stadium in the relegation season, it is likely they would have averaged over or at least very close to the 33k Villa had this year as many games sold out in 2004/05 and the extra numbers would have fitted into a 42k stadium and boosted the average.

Compared to under O'Neill. Still got about 8 players i'd happily take off their hands.

I think you have overestimated them (living off their past reputations) and are underestimating Saints. The Villa squad is poor, as the Premier League table this season demonstrates.

Yes, but there is only so much he could have done.

Plus, we haven't seen what he can do with Saints in the Premier League yet. Unlike at Villa he won't be held back by over £100 million worth of debt.

A better comparison might be Manchester United's appointment of Alex Ferguson. They were in the crap at the time ( 21st in League when he took over ) and his experience was all north of the border. Liverpool are up crap creek right now. You have to ask whether the likes of Guardiola or Mourinho would even go there right now.

I get where you're coming from - the fans have a great sense of expectation and an inflated opinion of where their club sits in the world. Living here, I know that better than most. I'm not so sure that the American owners are going to dispense with sense as readily as Reds supporters. I totally agree that there'll be uproar amongst some fans if Liverpool do go for a lesser known manager, but they're not all rabid dogs when it comes to footy - some would welcome an up and coming, hungry manager.

That said, the bookies aren't often wrong, so I suspect you're aren't either.

Nottingham Forest!!!!!!!!

Yes, somebody is a sandwich short of a picnic putting them on the list. But then again, it's Fry, so it's really just a wind-up to get a reaction. You know how he reckons that the purpose of an internet forum is to have a laugh and extract the urine. It's not to debate anything remotely serious.

It makes perfect sense in the context of the post it was replying to.

No it doesn't Why would a manager give a f*ck what one clubs crowds were 7 years ago against another ones today when deciding if he was going to join them?

Nothing at all.

It makes perfect sense in the context of the post it was responding to.

We got 26K last season, which is far more relevant.

Closer to 27k actually, whilst in the Championship. Compared to Villa's 33k in the world's most high profile league with larger number's of away fans boosted the average.

As usual, Stat-Boy is full of boring, contradictory and irrelevant sh*te.

It may well be boring. But then so is taking a counter to my points and then refusing to justify them and resort to personal insults like CB Fry continues to do.

It isn't contradictory or irrelevant though. What examples can you give of me doing either of those things?

Boring. Irrelevant. Contradictory.

You can't even provide a like for like comparison. Just their attendance last year, against our attendance 7 years ago. Brilliant. You should work for NASA, or soemthing.
