Can we change the title of this thread please? It scares the **** out of anyone who hasnt been on the site for a while and there is absolutely no basis to say its true other than the hearsay of one poster who won't reveal his 'source'.

In my mind there's no way it will happen but until it does lets make it clear its barely even a rumour.

- In a 42k stadium this season they averaged 33k.

- They are over £100m in debt, compared to Saints £0.

This sums it up...

Because natuarlly the first thing any potential manager will look at is the attendance percentage.

Which English clubs do you think he would leave for then?

Few can match or better what he has going for him at Saints right now.

Go and bother someone else with your predictable statistical drivel, you tiresome turd.

You have no idea, no idea whatsoever, what our club or any other club can offer him to make any form if informed opinion on that.

Maybe he might see the lack of stadium expansion in time for Premier league football as a lack of ambition from Cortese.

maybe he and NC don't get on...maybe Villa will give him a hefty pay rise...who the fuk knows

what I do know, is that Villa are miles bigger than saints and with the right guidance have huge potential and are a big city big club

The blinded arrogance and ignorance of Saints fans never fails to amaze me.

Its not arrogance or ignorance its realism. If you can name more than 5 clubs adkins would consider leaving us for based on current status of every club then I will accept your statement. Somehow I think you will struggle but go for it.

I could name more than 5, but it isn't as long a list as the Kraken seems to think.

But then you've got Birmingham city and lots of Asians so in fact Southampton is bigger.

BUT BUT BUT they only averaged 33k in a 42k stadium. Everyone knows the first thing a new manager looks at when deciding to join is their attendances v capacity.

The sackings at Villa and Liverpool COULD help us out, if Wigan lose RM they would go down next season, if Swans or Norwich lose there manager/s there also become poorer teams and most likely become a relegation threatened team, all we need to do his keep nigel and sign someone like jarvis and a RB and were have a team good enough of finishing 16th-14th.

If Liverpool did ACTUALLY come in for our Nige, cannot for a second see Cortese grift wrapping him over for talks with a good luck card...

In my book, this is not the time Adkins would choose to leave for a new project especially when he seems to so emphatically advocate the journey the club are currently living through.

My money is on Nigel being here for first game of next season...

So let's revisit this thread next season and recall all the forthcoming predictions which no doubt, given this thread, are undoubtedly inevitable...

Man City, Man United, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea. I reckon he'd leave us in a shot to go to any of those. Wow, I struggled there.

Maybe you want to re-define your criteria a bit to make it a bit tougher?

I'm only passing on what i've been told. I won't bother again in the future unless you say sorry for being nasty to me.

Whether what you are passing on is worth passing on surely depends on who told you. If it was a friend in the pub I think that we can safely disregard it,

Villa and Nottingham Forest.

I'm interested to see you justify those two.

- Villa have a poor squad and huge debts.

- Forest are in the Championship, just involved in a relegation battle, ownership issues up in the air, behind Saints in terms of infrastructure a stadium, academy and training ground.

I agree with that list bar Aston Villa. They are in a mess, with a poor squad and huge debts.

Plus, you say "for starters" who else then?

Well we are a newly promoted team. If a club was to come in for him who was an established prem club with good funds I think he's have to think about it. We're hardly the biggest club in the world...

we were in a mess when he came...he was happy to take a big step back to go forward

- We were not in a financial mess when Adkins joined. Cortese/Liebherr had been at the club for over a year and the club was in good shape.

- We did not have a squad in a mess when Adkins joined, the majority of the League One promotion winning side was already at the club.

It would take something huge to put Villa back on level footing with Saints. They have over £100 million worth of debt.

No - the first thing that he will look at is the money available - and there isn't any. Villa are sinking slowly in the west. Leeds are a "big" club with (sometimes) large attendances but would Nige go there? I think not.

As for Adkins. No chance. A club as big as Liverpool would never take a risk like that.

Really depends on how much money they're looking to spend. FSG spent a wad on players for Dalglish, and sure, they can recoup some of that money back through player sales, but after this season, the only player they can truly cash in on is Suarez - the absolute last player they want to sell.

So let's talk "big manager". Possible compensation and the contract would need to be bloody attractive for the person to take the job on, and no doubt FSG will have to open their wallets again. If they are really do want CL qualification next year, option one is to spend big, and make a ton of losses on money already spent. If they take that option, then you are 100% correct. Nige has no change.

Option two is to take a gamble on someone less pricey, with a view to getting the most out of their existing players. If they're thinking along those lines, maybe a wee gamble, then they'd be mad not to look at Nige, imo. He's a Liverpool supporter, local lad and his worst year was getting relegated with a team he'd taken up the year before.

I'd say Hutton is better than Richardson and Jenas would get in there as well.

EIther way, apparantly they've got a poor squad.
