SNSUN Posted 16 May, 2012 Share Posted 16 May, 2012 Pleased. He's class and will continue to prove it, but unlike Walcott in '06, he needs to play. Good addition. Pleased for Ruddy too, he's had a good season. Weakest position? Attack.
This Charming Man Posted 16 May, 2012 Share Posted 16 May, 2012 Just can't understand how a winger who hasn't scored or even got an assist all season has got in. Downing is a very average Premiership player. Can't believe he's got in over Johnson. Other than that, I think he's got it spot on. Chuffed with the inclusion of AOC. Someone who can come on and really help win us a game if need be.

This Charming Man Posted 16 May, 2012 Share Posted 16 May, 2012 Oh and Glen Johnson over Micah Richards is a strange one. Richards is a far superior player and is flexible in the positions he can play which is ideal for tournament football.

Chez Posted 16 May, 2012 Share Posted 16 May, 2012 Just can't understand how a winger who hasn't scored or even got an assist all season has got in. Downing is a very average Premiership player. I honestly rate Downing. He's two footed, an excellent crosser of the ball, gets to the byeline and is quite direct. He lacks that yard of pace that means the step up to International level might be a fraction too much for him, but he's had some good games for England. He's not had an impressive first season at LFC, but he's been overly slated and besides he's done it for years at Boro/Villa. I don't think he's average. I'd take him without thinking to our place. Far too many fans jump on the slating bandwagon who have hardly seen him live. I recall Lucas getting the same treatment. Never understood that either as whenever I have seen him play for LFC he's been solid.

Have you seen the amount of chances Liverpool have failed to take and he's created a shed load of those chances. You're right that he has failed to deliver though this season, I'm just saying I rate him. Johnson ain't a world beater, nor does he play on the left. Im not a fan of international football but would of been great for kelvin and rickie to of been called up, not being one eyed but i think they would of added more to the squad than those two. Zabaleta was forward as much he scored on sunday Not always that simple. Hence why we dropped Richardson for Butterfield towards the end of the season to give us a bit more stability at the back. Richardson is a better player but Butterfield was more suited to our needs at that time. Zabaleta was forward on Sunday as they were playing a poor side, they were camped in the QPR half for the entire 90mins and had to win the game in order to win the league. Thedelldays Posted 16 May, 2012 Share Posted 16 May, 2012 Besides, if Richards was in the squad and people were saying it should have been Glenn Johnson, I'm fairly sure DD would be arguing the other way. Not really. Just find it amazing how he is being built up as a great player when countless managers now over look him for the big games. It's not a coincidence Johnson is alright. I would have taken Richards over jones. But nothing between them IMO
