Alex chamberlain in the England squad

Just can't understand how a winger who hasn't scored or even got an assist all season has got in. Downing is a very average Premiership player. Can't believe he's got in over Johnson. Other than that, I think he's got it spot on.

Chuffed with the inclusion of AOC. Someone who can come on and really help win us a game if need be.

GK – Hart, Green, Ruddy

DF – Baines, Cahill, Cole, Johnson, Jones, Lescott, Terry

M – Barry, Downing, Gerrard, Lampard, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Parker (dodgy Achilles), Walcott, Young, Milner

S – Carroll, Defoe, Rooney, Welbeck

Ooo looks a lethal line up! Especially up front, Nice break for Rooney 4 weeks in Eastern Europe and play one game!

Ah well no expectations to be disappointed by.

100% this.

Every time I have seen AOC play for Arsenal this season he has been one of the best players on the pitch; Downing has been dross all season!!!!!

I honestly rate Downing. He's two footed, an excellent crosser of the ball, gets to the byeline and is quite direct. He lacks that yard of pace that means the step up to International level might be a fraction too much for him, but he's had some good games for England. He's not had an impressive first season at LFC, but he's been overly slated and besides he's done it for years at Boro/Villa. I don't think he's average. I'd take him without thinking to our place.

Far too many fans jump on the slating bandwagon who have hardly seen him live. I recall Lucas getting the same treatment. Never understood that either as whenever I have seen him play for LFC he's been solid.

Agree, this happens all too much with some players

In 36 games for Liverpool he's not scored one goal or even got one assist. That's terrible, utterly terrible for a winger whose sole purpose is to provide goal scoring opportunities and chip in with the odd goal.

I don't read much into assist stats. Have you seen the amount of chances Liverpool have failed to take and he's created a shed load of those chances. You're right that he has failed to deliver though this season, I'm just saying I rate him. Johnson ain't a world beater, nor does he play on the left.

Joe Cole has had a decent season for Lille. He would've been on the radar had he been playing over here. Instead, he's the forgotten man over in France.

As for Richards being so good...

Just hearing a conversation with an ex pro in the radio and they reckon Richards is poor defensively and positionally but attracts the eye as he is quick and spends more time in the oppo half.

Also, there is a reason why he never starts an important game for city and successive managers over look him

If Mancini doesn't rate him, why did he make him captain when Kompany was suspended? The reason he doesn't start for City in the more important games is down to the style they play in those games, him bombing on down the line doesn't fit in with that.

Well, he should be able to restrain back

Zabaleta and clichy get forward plenty. They play a similar stator to us.

Zabaleta was forward as much he scored on sunday

How on earth has rob 'calamity' green got in the squad ahead of kelvin, and carroll ahead of rickie, absolute joke.

Im not a fan of international football but would of been great for kelvin and rickie to of been called up, not being one eyed but i think they would of added more to the squad than those two.

Not always that simple. Hence why we dropped Richardson for Butterfield towards the end of the season to give us a bit more stability at the back. Richardson is a better player but Butterfield was more suited to our needs at that time.

Zabaleta was forward on Sunday as they were playing a poor side, they were camped in the QPR half for the entire 90mins and had to win the game in order to win the league.

Besides, if Richards was in the squad and people were saying it should have been Glenn Johnson, I'm fairly sure DD would be arguing the other way.

Not really. Just find it amazing how he is being built up as a great player when countless managers now over look him for the big games. It's not a coincidence

Johnson is alright. I would have taken Richards over jones. But nothing between them IMO

Very highly rated GK who has been out on loan, Cheltenham I think.

And someone i would like to have as number 2 next season to Kelvin. Think he will be the England number 2 in the coming years.
