Dishwasher help?

I have a dishwasher that worked fine until about a month ago. I've cleaned the filters added salt and it just doesn't work. It makes a noise like it's working and it sounds like water is coming out but no water actually enters the dish zone.

 

Also, it sometimes struggles to empty the water, and on occasions there is a pool of 3" of water at the base, when you turn it on it does drain away but never allows water to the spraying arms.

 

Other than get an engineer out, what can I try?

It could be that the pump is jammed and cant pump out - so the lack of water coming in isnt the actual fault - its just the anti flood mechanism kicking in. I had something similar, stumped up the £70 for an engineer and it turned out to be a meat bone stuck in the pump.

Are your inlet / outlet hoses kinked?

 

Maybe you've got a build-up of earwax?
