Wiggles31 Posted 15 May, 2012 Share Posted 15 May, 2012 Yes I'm bored but what would you consider as your individual performance by a player this season. I'm torn between Chaplow against Boro or Lambert against Brighton (home). I'm sure there are many more I'm missing. I'm going for Lambert at home against little old Brighton. Joe Kirkup Posted 15 May, 2012 Share Posted 15 May, 2012 It would be too easy to say SKD away at Leeds but Jack Cork has impressed me on many occasions, he reminds me of Didier Deschamps the "water carrier"

Wiggles31 Posted 15 May, 2012 Author Share Posted 15 May, 2012 How could I forget Davis against Leeds! Ok top 3 performances as Davis is likely to dominate! And I agree about Cork, he changed the game againdt Coventry.

The9 Posted 16 May, 2012 Share Posted 16 May, 2012 Lambert at home to Reading (yes, Reading, we lost) for me. He was immense. Richardson had a few amazing performances early on, and Cork had a couple of great ones right at the very start, especially away at Barnsley. And of course Kelvin at Leeds. Gemmel Posted 16 May, 2012 Share Posted 16 May, 2012 Lambert at home to Reading (yes, Reading, we lost) for me. He was immense. I was going to offer the same thing, but think it hs to go to Kelvin against Leeds

buctootim Posted 16 May, 2012 Share Posted 16 May, 2012 Not knocking the thread but these things are nearly always won by strikers or goalkeepers. They're the ones which catch the eye, but dont necessarily make the biggest contribution. That said Davis was immense at Leeds!

Do you really have to gt so upset when questioned about a statement? Why is it trolling? It's a simple question. If being the stand out player in a game doesn't make you man of the match what does? If being the stand out player in a game doesn't make you man of the match what does? Im not upset. You're not stupid and read the game well. You know full well that goalkeepers and goalscorers get more attention from the casual fan but that people who watch a lot of games tend to appreciate the work done by other players. Dunno know why you need to argue the toss in something you dont often believe in .

This Charming Man Posted 16 May, 2012 Share Posted 16 May, 2012 KD at Leeds is the clear winner but Lallana at Leicester was unplayable. Never seen a RB destroyed like that. My Leicester mates still go on about his performance up there whenever I see them. Apparently he hardly featured after that game as well, they used to rate him but he hasn't been the same player since, ha.

Exactly, which is why so many helmets think De Ridder is brilliant and hero worshiped when in fact he's done very little and nothing for 6 months. This Charming Man Posted 16 May, 2012 Share Posted 16 May, 2012 The way we play most the best performances were about team, like boro at home. Still don't think KD v Leeds lives up to the hype, lots of very poor finishing. I think it has to be Lambert and one of the hattricks. Perhaps Forest at home, where we were poor, awful defending and he battled us to 3 points with sheer force, outmuscling defenders and throwing himself on the end of crosses. Brilliant effort. In that case, you could also argue that it was poor defending that allowed Lambert to score his hattricks.

View From The Top Posted 16 May, 2012 Share Posted 16 May, 2012 I'm not getting it. A good keeping display in a busy away game has become 'never seen anything like it in my life'. I've seen dozens of games, saints and non-saints where keepers have to make far more impressive saves. Kelvin was great that day, but I wouldn't put any of the saves in the world class bracket, it was just the quantity of saves. So much poor finishing, scuffed shots, shots straight at him and the open goal chance probably wasn't even on target. Other way round and we're all slagging off the striker, not praising the keeper. Definitely a very impressive 8/10 performance, maybe 9, he did nothing wrong, but the 'never seen anything like it' stuff is way over the top. Fu.ck me you're weird. BallBoy Posted 16 May, 2012 Share Posted 16 May, 2012 Bart v Blackpool!!!! Sorry got to be Davis. I am not exaggerating when I say it's the best goalkeeing display I have seen since the Polish "clown" whose name I cannot spell. The reaction of the other players said it all. I don't recall a similar reaction for any of the other candidates. Players understand.

Colinjb Posted 16 May, 2012 Share Posted 16 May, 2012 he did nothing wrong, but the 'never seen anything like it' stuff is way over the top. As that directly quoted me I shall respond. I stand by my statement. I have seen superb goalkeeping performances before. I have seen superb saves before. But not in my lifetime have I witnessed a single goalkeeping performance that not only kept us in the game but based on save and focused reaction and response allowed us to prevail on a day when the rest of the side essentially didn't arrive. (The one link up by Richardson, Lee and Lambert notwithstanding.) Davis was the difference and the inspiration behind a vital three points at a crucial time in the season. It was the individual performance of the season for me and so it seems, many others. But naturally, football is a game of opinions.

The9 Posted 16 May, 2012 Share Posted 16 May, 2012 (edited) I'm not getting it. Definitely a very impressive 8/10 performance, maybe 9, he did nothing wrong, but the 'never seen anything like it' stuff is way over the top. I disagree, he stopped everything and make some saves he had no right to make. Plus they hammered us for the best part of 90 minutes and had loads of efforts ON target. Oh, and while I'm at it, I never, EVER notice when defensive midfielders play well. Ever. But I thought Cork was breaking up play and linking well in the first few weeks of the season and looked a class apart. Sufficiently for me to start saying his standards had dropped by September on various threads on here. So he must have been doing something special in those matches. Meanwhile, I've never really been all that impressed by Hooiveld's goalscoring, nice though it is, and he still looks a little ponderous and uncomfortable on the ball for a Prem defender and I always took that into consideration when people were hyping him up - but he's still a fcVk sight better than Reading's Alex Pearce is with a ball at his feet, I had to laugh when I saw him on his return, he won't last 5 minutes in the Prem.
