S-Clarke Posted 15 May, 2012 Share Posted 15 May, 2012 Has anyone got any specific preferences as to who they'd like to see called up? Apparently, according to some well placed twitter rumours, Woy has 'made his mark' with the 23 and there will be numerous surprises.

I kind of feel sorry for Carroll as he's been made to look **** because of the transfer fee, but he still has some decent attributes which make him a threat. Just doesn't score anywhere near enough for me. I'd expect to see Walker go, and Richards for RB. Rio, Terry, Cahill and Jones for CB. LB will be Cole and Gibbs IMO. Would have loved to have been able to take Wiltshire for CM, as I think he's a class above. Not sure who else we really have in there who is 'young'. Oxo and Theo will go IMO, and Lennon possibly.... skintsaint Posted 15 May, 2012 Share Posted 15 May, 2012 Lampard for me has had another solid season - not sure why he gets so much stick, stick him in an advanced centre midfield position and not too deep and let him cause trouble, where Gerrard hasn't done anything really except be injury a fair bit. Gerrard on his day is more dynamic than Lampard but I feel the Gerrard of old won't be seen anymore, too many injuries.
Crab Lungs Posted 15 May, 2012 Share Posted 15 May, 2012 I'm not even a massive fan of Lampard but I can't stand Gerrard. He pretty much single-handedly disrupts the flow of teams with his Roy of the Rovers guff.

People were not saying that when he was deployed with right tactics and players, he is surrounded by guff at Liverpool now a days, brilliant player if you usehim right. I hate Lampard, and TBH much like Gerrard he needs to be shielded by other players.

Agreed, I get so f*cked off how people worship Gerrard and the fact that he can't do anything wrong. Lampard deserves his place in the squad after the 2nd half of the season he has had. Smirking_Saint Posted 15 May, 2012 Share Posted 15 May, 2012 Lampard is a good player, I do agree, but positionally he isnt an aweful lot better than Gerrard, the dufference is he is still playing with decent midfielders were as Gerrards playing with absolute garbage ATM. My issue is that the england squad for the Euros should be loaded with players that will be in their prime at the next WC, gerrard 'may' make it, Lampard will not, add to that fact that we have consistantly wasted our second best midfielder of a generation trying to play Lamps or Gerrard together instead of utilising either in the way they play for their first teams and the fact that I still have the image of him laughing and joking after the mess of south africa and Germany. S-Clarke Posted 15 May, 2012 Author Share Posted 15 May, 2012 [h=1]Euro 2012: Rio Ferdinand to be left out of England squad [/h] England manager Roy Hodgson is set to omit defender Rio Ferdinand from his squad for Euro 2012 while Kyle Walker misses out through injury. Ferdinand, 33, has not played for the national side since the 2-2 draw with Switzerland in June last year. Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson recently raised doubts about the centre-back's ability to play tournament football. Tottenham right-back Walker, 21, is absent with a toe injury. The Spurs defender, who won his two England caps in November last year, sustained the problem in the 2-0 victory over Fulham at the weekend. Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp had initially suggested that Walker's injury was minor and that he would be fit to link up with Hodgson's squad. Turkish Posted 16 May, 2012 Share Posted 16 May, 2012 MLT has discussed this many times on soccer saturday. It isn't just this season. Downing has an appalling record, at Villa, at Boro. It's 1 goal a season or nothing. This is an attacker who gets a lot of the ball, it's bizarre. He has a good left foot, even with confidence issues you'd expect some goals. I wouldn't be so harsh on him if it wasn't for the fact England had countless good wide options. Players I'd play out wide before Downing: Walcott Young Chamberlain Johnson Joe Cole Lennon Milner Sturridge Lallana Jarvis Scott Sinclair Not Milner, one of the most over rated players in the country. On that not centre halves Id take over Terry JagIelka Smalling Cahill Dawson King (if fit) Lescott
