sydneysaint Posted 15 May, 2012 Posted 15 May, 2012 We were a sister club with a chinese club a few tears ago; who were they and are we still siblings?
S-Clarke Posted 15 May, 2012 Posted 15 May, 2012 I have no idea, but I believe this was cut when Lowe came back the 2nd time. It didn't really benefit us an inch at the time. No one really gives a **** about us out there!
sydneysaint Posted 15 May, 2012 Author Posted 15 May, 2012 Plenty of money up there ad plenty of people when thy get really serious about football
sydneysaint Posted 15 May, 2012 Author Posted 15 May, 2012 Manu-United direct is available in Chinese (language) $$$$$$$$$$$$$
S-Clarke Posted 15 May, 2012 Posted 15 May, 2012 Manu-United direct is available in Chinese (language) $$$$$$$$$$$$$ Let's not get into this again! They're Man Utd though, we're not. They'll generate interest wherever they go, we won't. I doubt people over there really know where Southampton is...let's be honest!
Matthew Le God Posted 15 May, 2012 Posted 15 May, 2012 (edited) http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/s/southampton/4241121.stm I'm sure this has been asked and answered on a number of occasions on this forum! This being one of them... http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/showthread.php?36361-Did-we-have-a-link-to-a-Chinese-club Fairly certain this link also involved a Southampton and a Qingdao local private school, which still exists, so it has outlived the club's link!
dellboypete Posted 16 May, 2012 Posted 16 May, 2012 just happen to be watching Brisbane Roar v Beijing Guoan (or something) in the asian champions league on fox sports whilst i'm in oz. Couple (ok 3) of points of note: 1. general standard is fairly poor - not even good championship standard 2. The chinese are dirty b**gers 3. The ref is from the UAE and I would hazard a guess that this could be the first football match he has ever reffed The other option is to watch Adelaide away to gamba osaka (japan) - also on fox - that one looks marginally better. P*ss poor crowds at both
dellboypete Posted 16 May, 2012 Posted 16 May, 2012 hmm 2nd half in japan has improved and adelaide have just scored a half decent goal
BristolSaint Posted 16 May, 2012 Posted 16 May, 2012 I have been living in Perth for just over 4 years. The quality of A-league is at best League 1 standard. Robbie Fowler last season and the season before stood out even when well past his prime.
Secret Site Agent Posted 16 May, 2012 Posted 16 May, 2012 We should concentrate on the Japanese link with Tandanari Lee. More option for us to make more of an impact as some comments indicate an increased japanese interest from their media since he arrived here. Perhaps we could do the old FM trick of asking him if he could recommend another player to increase this, plus the tours of Japan. Perhaps increase it with getting saints a sponsorship deal. I remember on my old Madness video of them being shown advertising the Honda City in Japan and I remember Chris Forman mentioning in an interview afterwards (on Radio with Jo Whiley I think) they did it to gain 'Brand Recognition' in Japan. Perhaps Saints could sell stuff for Mizumo.
hasper57saint Posted 16 May, 2012 Posted 16 May, 2012 A few 'tears' ago? I'm sobbing my bl..dy heart out!!!!!

Robbie Fowler last season and the season before stood out even when well past his prime. Just arrived in Perth this morning from adelaide and the taxi driver was a relatively young guy (as taxi drivers go) from Manchester originally - and a genuine city supporter. He goes to watch Perth Glory(?) every home game and has said that the quality of oz domestic football is improving season by season (he didn't say by how much). So it must have been pretty poor a few years ago!

Takes your mind off the **** football being played. Its soooo bad.

The Chinese were awful, expexcting the ref to stop the game every time one of their players had a lie down, or 'did a Drogba' if you know what I mean. Then getting REALLY arsey if Brisbane didn't kick the ball out. Probably the Asian 'respect your opponent' thing. Trouble is you can't respect a bunch of time wasting cynical *****s can you?
Prince Jazzbo Posted 17 May, 2012 Posted 17 May, 2012 from Manchester originally - and a genuine city supporter. I expect we'll hear a lot of that now.
