Mattio Posted 15 May, 2012 Share Posted 15 May, 2012 three charges of assaulting a police officer, one charge of using threatening or abusive language, and another of trying to enter a sports ground while drunk.Ha. I didn't know this was illegal, looks like the whole of block 42 needs to be locked up...

This Charming Man Posted 15 May, 2012 Share Posted 15 May, 2012 Ha. I didn't know this was illegal, looks like the whole of block 42 needs to be locked up... A truly ridiculous law that they enforce whenever they feel like it. As for that bloke, bringing up his wife's death nearly 10 years ago as an excuse for acting like a w*nker because he can't handle his beer... that's a bit desperate. bpsaint Posted 15 May, 2012 Share Posted 15 May, 2012 Copse Road is in Townhill, not Bitterne Park. How dare they mix us up with that dump! What hope for his son if thats how he chooses to behave in public? Utter scumbag.
kpturner Posted 15 May, 2012 Share Posted 15 May, 2012 (edited) I arrived at the ground late (and had to buy a ticket) and saw most of it. When I arrived the Police had already wrestled him to the ground and I remember thinking at the time that it looked a bit OTT. Now I understand why I guess. They were not holding back in their handling of him either. He was screaming something like "You're breaking my f**king arm!" repeatedly. That's what I thought, I must remember to point out if I'm arrested that my nan died 20 years ago, hence going off the rails.
Sour Mash Posted 15 May, 2012 Share Posted 15 May, 2012 Would always take the police account's of these situations with a pinch of salt. The "Drunk entering a football stadium" law is a joke that they pick and choose when to use. Also, does a bloke acting like a prat at the football really require a full page article in the Echo? Is there really no other more interesting news or stories to focus on?
This Charming Man Posted 15 May, 2012 Share Posted 15 May, 2012 Also, does a bloke acting like a prat at the football really require a full page article in the Echo? Is there really no other more interesting news or stories to focus on? That kind of thing will happen virtually every night in town, probably around 10/20 times on a Friday and Saturday. Yet I don't see articles on every single incident. A minor incident blown out of proportion because it was at the football, as per usual.

mcjwills Posted 15 May, 2012 Share Posted 15 May, 2012 Ha. I didn't know this was illegal, looks like the whole of block 42 needs to be locked up... That has been a law for 30 years I remember a friend being arrested for it getting into the Goldstone Ground for a game. This was the same time that they banned alchol on coaches going to a game. Crisp Posted 15 May, 2012 Share Posted 15 May, 2012 You'll find idiots like that at any club. The only encounter I've had with Millwall fans was when they walked me to the new den as I was a bit lost near Surrey Quays station. Went into a pub and asked directions and they showed me to the away end. They were really sound blokes.

Fair point...but Millwall fans are the only ones I've seen at SMS try to cross the security netting to get at the saints fans after going a goal down. Just off the top of my head; Skates, Cardiff, Bristol City, Luton and Leeds have all done similar.

Reggie Dunlop Posted 15 May, 2012 Share Posted 15 May, 2012 Hypocritical to have a law which states you are not allowed to be drunk in a football ground that also sells alcohol
The9 Posted 15 May, 2012 Share Posted 15 May, 2012 Hypocritical to have a law which states you are not allowed to be drunk in a football ground that also sells alcohol Hardly, given the long queues and short drinking times it takes a hell of a commitment to actually get drunk in a ground if you enter it sober anyway. Reasonable to at least legislate for anything other than a couple of pints within the duration of the match given the correlation between alcohol and violence. This Charming Man Posted 16 May, 2012 Share Posted 16 May, 2012 Hypocritical to have a law which states you are not allowed to be drunk in a football ground that also sells alcohol It's also against the law for a barmaid to serve someone who is drunk. 1885 Posted 16 May, 2012 Share Posted 16 May, 2012 Not a scary as a couple of years ago, but still a bunch of Neanderthals. Did anyone see what happened during the match against Cardiff at The Den ? A Cardiff supporter fell off the upper tier while celebrating a goal, crushing onto the seats. Millwall *****s just sang "One up, but you lost a fan"... SCUM !
