I remember the crowd singing Shearers gonna get ya..as he came up behind Tahar El Kalej..It was not long after the tackle that crippled Keyron Dyer ...was it before the world cup in Germany ??? Mind is too fuzzy!!..Anyway it was a good night

It's all coming flooding back to me now.

Didn't Le Tiss' son make a late appearance as well?

Yep, scored a load as well if I remember right. And Le Tiss sung the Sinatra "I did it my way" or have I completely imagined that?

I remember Le Tiss blasting a volley high and wide and the Northam singning "You'll never play for Eastleigh" - Which was quite funny for them

Christ that went quick! I was only 15 but remember it well. 1-0 at HT i think then they were p*ssing about 2nd half. I remember Ian Wright catching a cross then smashing it in, WGS and Keegan playing, and MLT's boy scoring loads.

Wasn't that just the song they played whilst they had the montage on the screen? Can't remember him singing!

MLT's son took a penalty. Ian Wright moved it closer to the goal for him and without any coaxing he picked up and put it back on the spot. Ian Wright almost wet himself.

Was a great night.

I believe Matt made a little speech that ended along the lines of "I did my way...but I like to think I did it your way too" then they played the song to a collection of greatest goals on the big screen. At which point I turned to the old man and said jokingly "brings a tear to the eye" shortly afterwards I was actually in tears!

Full house that night...bloody plastics.

Damn, I set a reminder on my phone to start this thread today! I'd love to have gone. Poor Matt, a year later we're in the FA Cup final. Who'da thunk it.

Kevin Keegan carrying a bit of timber was blowing a bit so walked off removed his England Shirt and gave it to a ball boy and sent him on to play up front with Mitchell Le Tissier he even got to score one from memory.

Mike Osman didn't have a clue who he was, so couldn't give him a name check. Apparently he was a nipper from Basingtoke who played in the same team as the son of my Wife's friend. His face was a picture being thrust out under the floodlights in front of 32,000 people.

You can just imagine him getting home "did you have a nice time tonight?".

Mum! Dad! I played on the pitch at Saint Mary's in front of 32,000 people with Mitchell Le Tissier and his Dad Matt, Alan Shearer, Ian Wright, Tim Flowers, Gordon Strachan, John Barnes....................... I scored a goal, ............. Kevin Keegan gave me his England Shirt and sent me onto play on the pitch in the real game and...... and ..........

I think the kids in the half time relay race get a real buzz now the crowd have got into cheering them on. That lad at Mattys testimonial can't have gotten to sleep until it was time to go to school next morning.

Great night out....... But blimey 10 years!!!!!

a very young Adam Llanna played at half time against former saints players,my son played in the same game.Theo Walcott was meant to play but he stubbed his toe at school on the day of the testamonial and missed the game. All the boys met Shearer for a Q&A before the game.Great night.

"You're short, you're fat, you're not as good as Matt Paul Gascgoine, Paul Gascgoine" was lollable, as was the Ian Wright abuse. Either him or Gazza mooned the Northam as a result.

Remembered well because next day I went to Australia for the summer, sat in the bar at Heathrow next day and watched Zidane score an absolute screamer in the CL final.

That evening was the only time that I had tears in my eyes at a football match. The football was incidental, but it is not every day that you see your joint favourite ever footballer say good bye to the club he loves.

Couple more memories

- One of Le Tiss's brothers hit the crossbar from way out, it was shaking for ages. He looked as if he could have been quite useful in his younger days

- 32,000 people going quiet watching the goal montage on the big screen. I think that is when it hit us that it really was the end

Has Mitchell followed his dad into professional footie ??

No, I believe he plays cricket over in Guernsey, and that's about as far as his sporting prowess goes.
