Thedelldays Posted 14 May, 2012 Share Posted 14 May, 2012 why do they do it. BETFRED payed out 2 months ago on UTD winning the title.....roughly £500k+ obviously, that never happened and had to pay out another £300k+ with other bets tied in on yesterday, it would have cost him over £1m Just been on the radio to say the best team had won the league over the season so, why did they pay out..? publicity...? can't be much good if it is going to put you hugely out of pocket... trousers Posted 14 May, 2012 Share Posted 14 May, 2012 I would imagine more people will bet with a company that has a reputation for paying out early. One would expect that they've done the sums....as you allude to, it's a form of advertising and will be offset against future revenue generated as a result. Probably... dubai_phil Posted 14 May, 2012 Share Posted 14 May, 2012 500k for all the column inches mentions on TV and internet chat that has been generated? Absolute Bargain
Chez Posted 14 May, 2012 Share Posted 14 May, 2012 they pay out early because those winning betters very often reinvest immediately in another bet. The quicker they pout the money back in the better pocket the quicker he gives it back to the bookie. Obviously if the wrong winner appears then it goes pear shaped, but they will have got back a fair amount of that wasted £500,000.
