fromdayone Posted 13 May, 2012 Share Posted 13 May, 2012 Anyone know any details? Is it going to be credit card style for Season ticket holders and bar code reader on matchday tickets? What other clubs are using similar systems?
S-Clarke Posted 13 May, 2012 Share Posted 13 May, 2012 That's the plan, the barcode readers have already been installed at the turnstiles. Season tickets will return to the 'credit card' format, and you'd just swipe them at the turnstile. They'll also allow you to benefit from 'points' from buying items in the store. Normal tickets will have a barcode as part of the stub. And I think almost all the PL are using electronic turnstile management, even a fair few in the leagues below (even charlton use it). So we're a bit late getting on board!

I went to Sporting Lisbon (yes, i know..that is not their actual name) and their ticketing system was like what you get at a train station...and had 1 steward for a bank of 5 or so turn stiles.... thegaffer Posted 13 May, 2012 Share Posted 13 May, 2012 Used the ticket bar code for the West Ham v Cardiff playoffs at Upton Park. Easy and simple with the odd steward looking after half a dozen turnstiles. These new barcode scanners are going to be amazing and really improve our matchday experience. We are really going places as a club.
CB Fry Posted 13 May, 2012 Share Posted 13 May, 2012 I've heard we're building ticket checkpoint tollgates at Ringwood and Christchuch. As we all know, we've always had a massive influx of fans from every single English village town and city west of Totton and this is expected to quadruple now. Getting these thousands of fans processed early is a good idea and should at least ease congestion on the A34. Great move by the club.
Mattio Posted 13 May, 2012 Share Posted 13 May, 2012 They used to have scanners when I worked at Plymouth Argyle the season before last (they were the hand held ticketmaster ones though not the Oyster style ones we have)
krissyboy31 Posted 13 May, 2012 Share Posted 13 May, 2012 I went to few sporting events in Aus recently and you can buy tickets on-line and print them out on your own printer, just fold them to go under the barcode scanner and your in. Bizarrely, it didn't exempt you from paying the booking and admin charge though, even though you were doing all the work and using your own ink. Tom8558 Posted 13 May, 2012 Share Posted 13 May, 2012 vicarage road even had this system. was fairly easy to use although i don't know what's stopping someone buying a child ticket instead of an adult ticket apart from morals
