St Chalet Posted 11 May, 2012 Share Posted 11 May, 2012 Another summer break thread. We have seen some real guff served up. Only stipulation is they must have played a 1st team game. S-Clarke Posted 11 May, 2012 Share Posted 11 May, 2012 Bit harsh on Sarimento as he barley played for us, so you can't really make a judgement. To be fair, in the one cup game I watched him in he looked quite handy with the ball....but that's all we saw. I'd have Phil Ifil in at RB in place of James, but the CB's are fair. Can't really argue with LB either.. So... Kevin Miller Phil Ifil Lancashire (could have easily been Liptak...) Bennett Molyneux Thomson Euell Ryan Smith Jordan Robertson Peckart Patterson Manager - The dutch duo.
Colinjb Posted 11 May, 2012 Share Posted 11 May, 2012 (edited) -------------- Robertson ----------- Baseya --------------- Hammill ------- Idiakez ------------ Sarmiento ------- Belmadi O'Halloran ----- Powell ------------ Lancashire ------- Wright ------------------------- Bart ----------------------------- Sarmiento for the shocker away to Notts County Belmadi for flattering to deceive after the wonder goal v Crewe (I can understand if that should make him exempt though) He never released the f**king ball when he needed to! May be harsh on Cedric Baseya but to be fair he has vanished without trace. And Robertson, well, one swallow doesn't make a summer. S-Clarke Posted 11 May, 2012 Share Posted 11 May, 2012 Christ, forgot about O'Halloran. Whatever anyone says, he was signed as a promotional move for the up-coming U21 friendly we were hosting. It was no surprise to see his face used in the posters. Harsh on Belmadi Colin..? He was outstanding for us when he played, but that was the problem - we didn't see enough of him. But when he did play he was often a class above.

S-Clarke Posted 11 May, 2012 Share Posted 11 May, 2012 What about that lad we loaned from Sheff Utd, who later got banged up for death by dangerous driving (or similar).....Jordan Robertson? Yep, got him in my team. We played him on the left in a couple of the games so i've stuck him there. Although my team doesn't really have much of a formation tbf. Ohio Saint Posted 11 May, 2012 Share Posted 11 May, 2012 Bart had some cracking good games when we were in the championship the first time round. Many here wanted him to take over from Kelvin. I think it's a bit harsh because of his recent bad form.

Colinjb Posted 11 May, 2012 Share Posted 11 May, 2012 Picking Bart is as crazy as it is fcking harsh. Fair enough if we'd only had him and Kelvin, but we made do with KEVIN MILLER FFS. Still, despite never playing, that place has to go to Forecast just for getting paid. Given the sheer scale of absolute dross we've had, picking Skacel seems equally ridiculous. Hardly his fault some fans expected him to be Ronaldinho. He was still pretty good. If you think Molyneux or Dickson were better, you haven't seen much football. That was just a hypothetic Burley team with many CM's team from back in the day, my serious pick was further up.

I would say the same against rotherham in the carling cup of 2008, but we had a couple of decent players in that team. Svensson, Perry, Cork, Surman, John. James Posted 12 May, 2012 Share Posted 12 May, 2012 GK: Kevin Miller (I still find it bizarre that he was first choice for a time - God we must have been desperate. DR: Jermaine Wright (Just the worst footballer I've ever seen) DC: Pele (Not a defender so why sign him as one?) DC: Bennett/Makin (that defensive pairing against Palace on the opening day of one season has got to be the weakest I've seen since supporting Saints) DL: Vignal (Had friends who said he'd be naff having seen him at Pompey, they were right - just shocking) ML: Hammill (Overweight and useless) MC: Safri (Don't think I ever saw him pass it forwards) MC: Idiakez (too old even when he signed for us) MR: Jason Euell (Mule - says it all) FC: David McGoldrick (thought he was all that, he wasn't. Every time I see one of his cockily taken yet missed penalties it makes me so angry) FC: Saga (with the caveat of it being once he'd signed permanently. Thought we'd signed the new Pahars but he was just dreadful after signing on the dotted line)

Thought he did well when drafted in.. sure he was no Kelv but thought we had him to thank for many points in his time Completely agree with this. In fairness, during the "wilderness years", it'd be hard to pick our "worst" keeper, purely because I don't think we've had any absolute muppets in between the sticks at any stage (bar Bart and his howler against Blackpool - but that hardly makes him the worst either). Elmore Posted 12 May, 2012 Share Posted 12 May, 2012 Miller doesn't deserve to be on any of these lists imo. He did very well for us when he played and as pointed out by bananaman above we were really thankful for him at the time.
Lighthouse Posted 12 May, 2012 Share Posted 12 May, 2012 (edited) Disagree with the nominations for Vignal, Miller and Ifil who I thought looked decent at times. Licka wasn't bad either, a bit lightweight but one of the better players under Pearson. I'll try and got for the players who actually played for us, not the ridiculous players like Pulis, St Juste and Forecast. Poke - Saw him ship 5 goals at Hull. Might have had a slight knock, but looked hopeless. James - Had the pace of a man twice his age, lightweight, tried to cross from the halfway line. Powell (Captain) - Mother of God why... Lancashire - Had none of the tallents you'd expect of a defender. O'Halloran - I think Martin O'Neal had a moan because we didn't play him enough. He was taking the p*ss surely? Ryan Smith - World Class. lol J. Wright - Even in his naturally possition he was hopeless. Euell - Played pretty much every game for 2 years, always up front or in midfield. Averaged about 3 goals a season. Sh*te. McCann - Maybe dropping down from the Prem will help him find his level... oh, ah no hang on... nope still crap. Pericard - Retired because he couldn't take the embarassment of going from Juventus to Havant and Waterlooville before his 30th birthday. Robertson/Pekhart - Pick one or the other, I can't decide. One goal each... that's about it. Actually I'll go with Robertson, he can talk to Pericard about prison. Subs: Pick any from Kenton, Sarmiento, Hammill, Forte, Flakey, McGoldrick (£1m ), Wise, Paterson, Idiakez, Thompson, Gasmi (pushing McCann for a start), Molyneux, Liptak (was it him who once ran half the length of the pitch looking like he was tackling himself?).
