Former Saints players

In the forthcoming season we will be seeing quite a few former Saints. Who will you cheer and who will you boo?

When we play Norwich at SMS, if he's playing, I'll cheer Surman when his name's read out. He left to keep the club running and have no ill-feeling towards him at all. Might cheer Bale as well.

I don't really do booing, but I'll make an exception for Fuller and maybe Dyer.

Pretty neutral about most of the others though.

Crouch ? Deserves applause for his efforts to keep us up in 2005. Although he did later go back to Skateville so will probably get a lot of grief over that.

K^ntwynne Jones deserves to be crucified after his sulk/strike and manner of departure. Best ignore him though.

Arry - think he might get a hot recption.

Stoke really are the former Saints aren't they? Quite funny how they've assembled most of our former team in there. I reckon there's a chance they could fall the same fate as us next year too, they've been treading water most of this year...and there is always one team that gets sucked into the relegation battle from the season before, who were 'comfortable ish' the year before.

Can see the following getting boo'd by sections of our crowd: Dyer, Bale, Walcott, AOC, Crouch, Delap, Fuller, Jones.

Would be really embarrassed if anyone boo's Surman, though I do wonder if he regrets his move now.. Would say Lallana has had a lot more career highlights than him.

To be fair, he's already had 2 seasons in the PL - one with Wolves and one with Norwich, so he's done better than Lallana in that respect. I doubt he regrets leaving looking back on what he's personally achieved since, although I know he didn't truly want to leave at the time. If we'd have been bought by Markus 2 weeks earlier he'd have stayed and been part of the journey back, pretty sure of that.

It did, for a period, turn oh so sour for Drew with his injuries. He doesn't seem to have got back on the track to where it seemed he was heading with us at the time. I'll not boo him or Bale.

My boos will be for Jones and Phillips, the only reservation I do have with booing is that it can sometimes be an incentive for the player to try and ram them down our throats!

If you think about overall happiness though, would you rather be winning week in week out making your way up L1 & the Champ, picking up a trophy at a Wembley final on the way and celebrating 2 promotions (all for your boyhood club) or sitting unable to get into a crap Wolves team (injuries making this even more frustrating) then having to move down a division, mostly missing a great Champ season again due to injury, finally having a good season with Norwich in the prem but not being a particularly key part of it.. I'd say Lallana holds more happy career memories. Depends how you measure achievement though.

Can't disagree with your last point though, bit of a shame. I've always liked Drew.

lol..why

in an article I read today, we tried to ditch him but he (his side) convinced a stay of execution of another 2 months.....then of course, he went on to get into the team etc

Because Jamie the little f*cker mugged us off. Quotes in the paper such as "I'm ready for the premier league now" ie - I'm too good for Saints. "the next young star might come along and I might miss the chance" arrogant little c*nt. We didn't want to sell, he wanted to go and mugged us off in the press. bale and WAlcott went in a decent and dignified manner. Plus we had no choice to sell them.

I know we are barcelona of the south with 1000s of fan everywhere...but league 1 or the Premier league....hmmmmm

Nothing wrong with him moving, see above it was the way he did it that p*ssed a lot of people off.

Why would anyone boo anyone? They're just wage earners going for better prospects, something we've all probably done at some time. OK their rewards are much greater than anything most of us will ever realise, but the principle's the same, surely?

Bit childish, I think.

No one cares what you think you don't go to football. Stick to politics sweetheart.

anybody booing AOC is a complete and utter mong. He was at the celebration meal last sunday and spoke very highly of us. If I was 17 and had the option to go and work with one of Europe's top teams I certainly wouldn't hang about but he's always should a lot of humility and thanks towards us which he should get credit for

Exactly. Really didn't like the way he went about the whole thing going to the papers looking to get signed elsewhere and saying how he was to big for Saints.

poor show.

Hes not going to come to the meal and slag us off is he. I dont like the way he went about engineering his move and neither do most people i know. Walcott and Bale didn't go running to the papers about how good they were and how they deserved a move, despite the fact we were on the decline at the time and it was a place anyone with any ambiton wouldn't have wanted to be. Hence they have my upmost respect. Still if your happy for players to mug us off in the papers then thats up to you.

I'm not convinced about Kenwyne Jones' strike. I didn't trust anything the club said back then.

Nor will I boo AOC. Thanks for the £15m Arsenal, you're welcome to him, no hard feelings.

Kevin Phillips always makes a good panto villain but I doubt he'll get many games in the Prem if they go up.

Sod the club he said he was on strike from the horse's mouth who would agree to do that if it wasn't true?

I would hate anyone to boo Chamberlain. I don't blame him for leaving. League 1 to one of the best teams in the world is a no-brainer. Look where it's got him.

Ok the deal wasn't done perfectly, but I think 95% of the blame lies with his father (and agent) over the affair. He wanted to make a quick buck over Alex.

I've spoked to AOC a few times since he's left and he loves our club, he just said it was a move he couldn't turn down. His Dad however, is a complete *****.

Dyer should get a good reception, based on the one BWP got.

Harry will get a "hot" reception. Bale/Surman/Theo/Baird will get a good one. I know a few are keen to return here one day.

Yeah sure, that's why he was the only kid in the squad making his debut on the bench at Exeter near the end of the 2009/10 season and had just given him a squad number... "because we were going to ditch him".

And look what it does to our chances of keeping hold of players who've decided to take the shortcut to more money and sitting on a "big club"'s bench...

I wonder what reception Alan Pardew will get?

A bloody good one I would hope - I can't see any rationale for anything different. He put some pride back into the club and gave us a fabulous day out at Wembley after a dark few years.

You'll be lucky to get to boo or cheer Ricardo Fuller or Andrew Davies. Both have had their Stoke contract expire and neither is likely to feature in the Prem next season, Davies has just played nearly 30 games for Bradford City in League Two !

Redknapp's reception will dwarf anything anyone else gets.
