pap Posted 11 May, 2012 Share Posted 11 May, 2012 It's all getting a bit tasty in the South China Sea. China has apparently warned their Phillipines-resident nationals that they are not safe in the country. Chinese state media is warning of war. Have to admit, only discovered this story myself today - didn't realise it had been rumbling on for a while. Is it really that serious? Is this just the rhetoric of a country that knows their smaller neighbour could be cowed by threats of war or a signal that China is ready to start flexing its muscles on the world stage? Thedelldays Posted 11 May, 2012 Share Posted 11 May, 2012 (edited) Yeah, I was going to ask about that. How close are those two? what two..? Manila and Washington..? that matters not. it just depends on what is going on around the aisa/pacific region...dont forget, China are quite capable of winding up the US itself..they managed to get a Song class SSN to make itself known right in the middle of a US carrier task group...which is very embarrassing for the US. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-492804/The-uninvited-guest-Chinese-sub-pops-middle-U-S-Navy-exercise-leaving-military-chiefs-red-faced.html have to remember, the US craves for dominance in ALL areas of the earth....and the pacific is right up there for them.....depends on what outcome they want. the dispute is over a few rocks in the middle of now where (seriously) but to claim those few rocks would mean you can have uncontrolled access to vast natural resources....... a bit like the argies wanting the Falklands again....(notice they are not interested in south gerogia or the ascension's) I have known about this for ages....kinda my job Edited 11 May, 2012 by Thedelldays
