bjk Posted 10 May, 2012 Posted 10 May, 2012 I know its early but i'm bored,so i'll start. Stoke City away lose 2-1.
fanimal Posted 10 May, 2012 Posted 10 May, 2012 We will be away as we were at home first this season; So probably not a derby, not London, not too far up north so Midlands ish; Aston Villa? And a win 2-1! COYRS!!
BlakeySFC Posted 10 May, 2012 Posted 10 May, 2012 I've done a bit of research and found out some interesting patterns in regards to the Promoted teams' first fixture in the last 5 years of the Premier League, starting from the 2007/08 season to this season 2011/12. 2007/08 - All 3 promoted teams avoided each other - 2 teams played a top 6 side 2008/09 - All 3 promoted teams avoided each other -1 against a top 6 side 2009/10 - All 3 promoted teams avoided each other - 1 against a top 6 side 2010/11 - All 3 promoted teams avoided each other - 2 played a top 6 side 2011/12 - All 3 promoted teams avoided each other - 1 played a top 6 side. So there is a 1 in 3 chance we'll be up against Spurs/Newcastle/Man City/ManUre/Arsenal/Chelsea home or away in the first match. There is also a 1 in 3 chance we'll be up against an established PL side (Stoke/Wigan/Norwich/Aston Villa).
jjsaint Posted 10 May, 2012 Posted 10 May, 2012 Man City at home, lose 2-0. Wrist slitters out in force.
bjk Posted 10 May, 2012 Author Posted 10 May, 2012 Man City at home, lose 2-0. Wrist slitters out in force. Thats a good result.
SNSUN Posted 10 May, 2012 Posted 10 May, 2012 **** Man Utd 3-0 at St Marys. Man Utd change their shirts, claiming Rooney looks too fat in grey. They change to blue, which doesn't solve the problem, then change into red, which still makes him look fat. Eventually they go with skins, which answers the question of why Rooney looks fat. Goals scored by Jos, Rickie (penalty, a foul on Sharp by Evra which results in his sending off) and Morgan (with a 30 yard screamer). The Saints are back in town. All the newspapers report how dire Man Utd are, only the newly formed News Of The World giving us any credit whatsoever.
saintstr1 Posted 10 May, 2012 Posted 10 May, 2012 Norwich Away, Draw 1-1, Goal scored by Gary Hooper ( No I Am Not In The Know, Just A Feeling )
stug76 Posted 10 May, 2012 Posted 10 May, 2012 We will be away as we were at home first this season; So probably not a derby, not London, not too far up north so Midlands ish; Aston Villa? And a win 2-1! COYRS!! So what you are saying is that our chances of playing one of the top 6 teams out of 19 is about 1 in three? Away day at Spurs. Draw. ******** to that, I'm off to SNSUNs game.
Hamilton Saint Posted 10 May, 2012 Posted 10 May, 2012 Now that we're finally back in the Premier League, it's gonna be fun to play Pompey and establish definitively who is the best team in Hampshire.
SNSUN Posted 10 May, 2012 Posted 10 May, 2012 I remember this prediction - definitely coincidence but impressive nonetheless. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/4832776.stm
Danbert Posted 10 May, 2012 Posted 10 May, 2012 So what you are saying is that our chances of playing one of the top 6 teams out of 19 is about 1 in three? Yep, and he's done the research to prove it.
Sold To The Man @ The Bar Posted 10 May, 2012 Posted 10 May, 2012 Swansea at home then Arsenal away on TV 4pm Sunday (AOC and Walcot interest)
It's There Posted 10 May, 2012 Posted 10 May, 2012 Away...to Liverpool Result: Liverpool 1 Saints 3 (R lambert to score...Liverpool goal a consolationin 89th minute- to Kelvin's annoyance!)
southamptonbairn Posted 10 May, 2012 Posted 10 May, 2012 The last 5 seasons have seen the Championship runners up playing away on the first game of the season. (It may even go back further) Playing Chelsea x 2, Man Utd, Wigan and Bolton. So on previous history we will be away to one of the top 2 (City or United) or mid to low table West Brom or Aston Villa
Dr Who? Posted 10 May, 2012 Posted 10 May, 2012 I think it is about time two promoted teams play each other on the opening day. Also that the second team are at home so... Southampton v Reading/West Ham/Blackpool. Now you now this is going to happen so put your money on it! Result 2-2
Berudenot2 Posted 10 May, 2012 Posted 10 May, 2012 Spuds at home 4-0 Saints, take that Agent Redknapp you ****.
BlakeySFC Posted 10 May, 2012 Posted 10 May, 2012 (edited) Yep, and he's done the research to prove it. 1 of the promoted teams gets a top 6 side every season, sometimes 2. (Based on the last 5 seasons in the Premier League) The 2012/13 season won't be any different. 1 promoted side WILL get a top 6 side. Go onto the Premier League website, find the last 5 seasons handbook's (like I have) and you will see the results. So its a 1/3 chance (possibly a 2/3 chance) that we'll get a Top 6 side at the start of the 2012/13 Premier League season, want me to make that any clearer for you? :) Edited 10 May, 2012 by BlakeySFC
AussieDog Posted 10 May, 2012 Posted 10 May, 2012 Newcastle at home. Saints to win 2-1. Matt Le Tiss to come off the bench and score 2 classics. Oops...sorry I regressed 20 years. Goals by Sharp and Hooiveld

Yes 18. So, yes he's is right but he wasted his time, catch up.
Minsk Posted 10 May, 2012 Posted 10 May, 2012 Our next prem match to be the same as our last - ManUre at SMS. Except this is the new, reborn, Saints and we will win this time!!!!!!!! This is my dream scenario. (But I have a feeling it will be Citeh away.)
S-Clarke Posted 10 May, 2012 Posted 10 May, 2012 at home, Live on sky Super Sunday against Arsenal We beat them 2-1 with a goal in the last minute, after being battered for the majority of the game.
SW11_Saint Posted 11 May, 2012 Posted 11 May, 2012 Norwich home. We win 3-1 and it sets the tone for the season. We are still unbeaten after 10 games and in a Champions League spot. We can dream...
