View From The Top Posted 9 May, 2012 Posted 9 May, 2012 I know a few on here have been over to watch Saints during pre-season & I'd like to do it with my nipper this year if possible and was therefore wondering as to roughly when it is? Mid/late July? Early August?
mancsaint Posted 9 May, 2012 Posted 9 May, 2012 Last year we played on 13th & 16th July and year before 13th & 17th July, all four games in different parts of Switzerland. Mancsaint

Sour Mash Posted 9 May, 2012 Posted 9 May, 2012 Cheers. Add on at least a week to that on the basis the season is starting later than usual?
oldsarum Posted 9 May, 2012 Posted 9 May, 2012 Add on at least a week to that on the basis the season is starting later than usual? next season is starting two weeks later than we did 2011/12
ericofarabia Posted 9 May, 2012 Posted 9 May, 2012 You can't really base it on previous years dates, it depends on the start of the season date and pre season fitness training etc. Next season's build up will be interesting as this break is surely the longest ever - 111 days FFS. Since our relegation in 2005 our pre season breaks have been 83 / 98 / 88 / 97 / 97 / 91 / 92 / and now 111. The 83 takes into account last day of Prem later than The Championship and then Championship starting a week earlier than The Prem did. The 88 was due to our season extended by the play offs. This seasons break for us taking into account later start for PL and early finish in championship is 3 weeks longer than our previous 2 seasons. This could cause havoc with training schedules and how they are applied. Too long off and players will be rusty, but start them too early and they won't last the season!!
The9 Posted 9 May, 2012 Posted 9 May, 2012 Saints will DEFINITELY be at St Mary's on 14th July for the Liebherr Memorial Cup match (same day as the Olympic Torch comes to St Mary's) - which means the previous years' overseas dates are completely wrong for this year.
