bender Posted 8 May, 2012 Posted 8 May, 2012 Not for me. Perhaps it will when the fixtures are released or when the shirt is released with a Prem badge on.
trousers Posted 8 May, 2012 Posted 8 May, 2012 Same here. It feels like I've entered some kind of subconscious no-man's-land where this promotion to the premier league malarkey never actually happened. As you say, it'll be the publication of the fixture list that will be the sinking in moment. It's a bit like when my first child was born - there was the initial euphoria but then, after things settled down, some weeks later I was driving down the high street and the magnitude of it all just hit me and I burst into tears of joy. It'll be a happy and emotional day when reality strikes! :-)

Heartache for years but she eventually got preggers over 3 years later. Couldnt believe it was happening till I saw her get very large indeed (twins)
Saint Posted 8 May, 2012 Posted 8 May, 2012 It will they announce st prices My favourite sentence of the thread so far.
Barry the Badger Posted 8 May, 2012 Posted 8 May, 2012 It sank in when I was watching Cardiff v West Ham, what they are still having to fight for we have already acheived.
doddisalegend Posted 8 May, 2012 Posted 8 May, 2012 I'm sure it will sink in first game of next season as I watch Tevez glide past Fonte and Jos like they aren't there and smash the ball in the back of the net.....
shurlock Posted 8 May, 2012 Posted 8 May, 2012 Not for me. Perhaps it will when the fixtures are released or when the shirt is released with a Prem badge on. Sure it's sunk in among all the albion fans you've been pestering.
djharvey Posted 8 May, 2012 Posted 8 May, 2012 I'm sure it will sink in first game of next season as I watch Tevez glide past Fonte and Jos like they aren't there and smash the ball in the back of the net..... To pull back a last minute consolation goal in a 3-1 loss to the saints!
CB Fry Posted 8 May, 2012 Posted 8 May, 2012 It won't for me until we move up on teletext. And when we get the full two pages in the FourFourTwo season preview (buy that magazine once a year every year and have done for about fifteen years). Then, and only then, do I get excited.

Got to admit, will love getting all the season previews in the various papers/magazines. Usually end up reading them several times over.
SNSUN Posted 8 May, 2012 Posted 8 May, 2012 Promotion from League One still hasn't sunk in yet. I can't believe we achieved it. I've only just got over us winning a trophy at Wembley.
doddisalegend Posted 8 May, 2012 Posted 8 May, 2012 Back to where we belong! Are we re-building the dell
JPTCount Posted 8 May, 2012 Posted 8 May, 2012 a little, but the season ended for me with a feeling of relief more than anything in my head we've been PL since xmas, the team just needed to get there
The9 Posted 8 May, 2012 Posted 8 May, 2012 Not for me. Perhaps it will when the fixtures are released or when the shirt is released with a Prem badge on. I just spotted the Championship table on SSN and noted that there were 22 teams below us and the season was over. That took a while to sink in.
The9 Posted 8 May, 2012 Posted 8 May, 2012 to me, being in the prem is normal.... I agree, but it has been seven years, and a few things will have changed in our absence.
Liquidshokk Posted 8 May, 2012 Posted 8 May, 2012 I was this week thinking back to when we were going up to the championship and how I thought we would struggle and have to prepare to go back down again. Has still not really quite sunk in how well we handled the championship and that we stayed in top two position for pretty much the whole season!! That's enough to get your head around, let alone prem football next season!!
Fan The Flames Posted 9 May, 2012 Posted 9 May, 2012 The enormity of the task ahead sunk in when Jos scored the third. Realism really ****ed on my promotion party.
dronskisaint Posted 9 May, 2012 Posted 9 May, 2012 State of limbo is a good description - I've still got the silly grin very close to the surface that's been hanging around since Jose's goal went in..broadened with the third and fourth and took up squatters rights thereafter. I find myself singing 'We're Premier League....' as I drive along but I'm guessing the reality hasn't fully dawned yet - time enough before August.
saintoaks Posted 9 May, 2012 Posted 9 May, 2012 Back to where we belong! Agreed but not taking the premiership for granted, as i think when we were there last we were part of the furniture. Good wake up call (7 years) and thoroughly enjoyed my time watching the lads in the lower leagues, Wev'e got more than enough in our locker to stay with the big boys.
Stattmeister Posted 9 May, 2012 Posted 9 May, 2012 Just logged into Fantasy Premier League to see how my team faired this week - to be greeted by a banner by barclays saying "Congratulations on promotion back to the Premier League" with a Saints shirt with the Premier League crest on.... get in!
MINIBARCELONASAINT Posted 9 May, 2012 Posted 9 May, 2012 When I saw this on SkyBet - http://www.skybet.com/football/specials/southampton-specials Southampton Specials Southampton 2012/13 Specials Win Special To Stay Up 4/7 Relegated 5/4 Top Ten Finish 7/2 Bottom Half Finish 1/6 Top 4 Finish 250/1 Euro Qualification Via League Position Or Cups 16/1 League Points 2012/13 Under 42.5 Points 5/6 Over 42.5 Points 5/6 I might stick £100 on top ten or Europa Qualification. doc oli Posted 12 May, 2012 Posted 12 May, 2012 Sunk in today. End of the prem season tomorrow and realised that this time next year , we will be there , back where we belong.
Graffito Posted 12 May, 2012 Posted 12 May, 2012 The oddest thing for me is that just over a year ago Saints were in the third division. Incredible what has been achieved. Won something in each of the last three years. It's good to be a Saints fan right now. I just hope we do ourselves justice next year..I think we will. Whatever happens though, the last three years have been memorable.
cellone Posted 12 May, 2012 Posted 12 May, 2012 It's starting to sink in, but it's hard getting my head arround the idea of positive ambition. I had better get use to it I suppose.
