smackalec Posted 7 May, 2012 Share Posted 7 May, 2012 It's just been played on radio 1. I hated that song so much, and it seemed to make the memory of that day at the shack so much more vivid. It seemed to be number 1 forever. I don't know what point I'm trying to make really. All I know is it's the 1st time I've heard that song played and its not made me feel like ****, it's put a smile on my face. I really hope those skate ****s go under. Sha la la la la la la la who the **** is laughing now.

hypochondriac Posted 7 May, 2012 Share Posted 7 May, 2012 Yep. We reclaimed it.
shurlock Posted 7 May, 2012 Share Posted 7 May, 2012 Nah, it still belongs to the skates- that they were able to sing it at end of the derby says it all.
alehouseboys Posted 7 May, 2012 Share Posted 7 May, 2012 Yep, they've had Radio 1 banging away in the house all day and when Amirillo came on I thought how times have changed. A few years back I'd have launched something at the radio, this time it put a beaming smile on me old face and a I had a little sing-along! WTFILN. Saints foreva Posted 7 May, 2012 Share Posted 7 May, 2012 The Skates version never really made much sense. They never sent us down.
Amazing Hangover Posted 7 May, 2012 Share Posted 7 May, 2012 But they did get two late draws against us this season. You can never take that away from them. The Skates version never really made much sense. They never sent us down.
sfc4prem Posted 7 May, 2012 Share Posted 7 May, 2012 But they did get two late draws against us this season. You can never take that away from them. So? Hahaa. They're in deep **** in League One and we are Southampton, we're Premier League.
Draino76 Posted 7 May, 2012 Share Posted 7 May, 2012 If I hear the Amarillo song; I hear Saints OWNING the you know who. If I were in a coma in a wedding and that song came on; I would be disco moonwalk within seconds.
Trumush Posted 8 May, 2012 Share Posted 8 May, 2012 It was played over the PA system after the Coventry game while we were all on the pitch celebrating. Nice touch I thought. As has been said - they NEVER put us down, but we are indeed laughing now.
Toomer Posted 8 May, 2012 Share Posted 8 May, 2012 (edited) That song cheers me up now. Used to make me ****ed off. Although we have put our own twist on it, it still fecks me off because that day down at the shyte hole still haunts me. fareham saint phil Posted 8 May, 2012 Share Posted 8 May, 2012 Hated the song just for being a ****e song, then when it was hijacked by the fishy few I hated it more, now that it was wrestled back from them, I still hate it So no change really
The9 Posted 8 May, 2012 Share Posted 8 May, 2012 Said all along we needed to reclaim it, but I never really accepted we'd have to be above them again before we could.
niceandfriendly Posted 8 May, 2012 Share Posted 8 May, 2012 It's been completely reclaimed, despite the fact that their version didn't make any sense really. Love the song again.
niceandfriendly Posted 8 May, 2012 Share Posted 8 May, 2012 Nah, it still belongs to the skates- that they were able to sing it at end of the derby says it all. It made little sense in 2005, it made even less sense in 2012. ****ing thick Skates.
Chez Posted 8 May, 2012 Share Posted 8 May, 2012 still brings back a terrible memory, but reclaiming it has certainly helped. When we win our opening game of the Premiership and go top of the table I'm sure it will be sung loud and proud.
dronskisaint Posted 8 May, 2012 Share Posted 8 May, 2012 It's a s hit song but it's excorcised, cleansed and our version is a lot more relevant than theirs ever was - WTFILN!!
Lord Duckhunter Posted 8 May, 2012 Share Posted 8 May, 2012 We need to keep singing it, when on TV. Much better than "are you watching" which everyone does. I like it, because you can jig around a bit to it,but love the fact that we've thrown it back at them. It's such a better version than there's, WTFILN hits the nail on the head, whereas they didn't send us down, Man Utd did. I hope we keep singing it.
