Kingsland Red Posted 7 May, 2012 Posted 7 May, 2012 Has anybody else ever noticed the permanent hoardings about mid height up the grandstands at stadiums such as Old Trafford, Stamford Bridge or The Emirates, such as "John Terry the King" or "(club name) -Pride of London". I see even QPR are at it, and I was wondering what "statements" we could come up with for St Marys.....
Griffo Posted 7 May, 2012 Posted 7 May, 2012 Chelsea's were paid for by Abramovich. Just like their plastic sh*tty flags are paid for by him too. I believe the club pays for theirs too at Arsenal and they are utterly poo. We'd have nowhere to put such things anyway and if we did so it'd be much better if they were sorted and paid for by the fans.
Golden Balls Posted 7 May, 2012 Posted 7 May, 2012 "The Southampton Way" seems to be the statement of the hour these days
Thedelldays Posted 7 May, 2012 Posted 7 May, 2012 they are all copying man U....in a desperate appearance to be "fanatical"
Mbizzle Posted 7 May, 2012 Posted 7 May, 2012 Personally I like the way some NFL teams have their past heroes and shirt number around the stadium like a mini hall of fame type homage. However, Griffo is correct, there is nowhere to put anything like that with the current stadium setup
Sour Mash Posted 7 May, 2012 Posted 7 May, 2012 Why don't we all chip in for a flag of Markus Liebherr?
Glasgow_Saint Posted 7 May, 2012 Posted 7 May, 2012 What happened to the Markus flag we had made? How many times did we use it?
Glasgow_Saint Posted 7 May, 2012 Posted 7 May, 2012 Personally I like the way some NFL teams have their past heroes and shirt number around the stadium like a mini hall of fame type homage. eelpie Posted 7 May, 2012 Posted 7 May, 2012 Not the place for the idolising of current individual players imho. I prefer every player to be treated equally and praised per performance on a match to match basis. So my suggestion is "Together we Succeed" (No pun intended, but the 'Together We Stand' could be a name for one of the stands -sorry I'll get my coat) I do like Mbizzle's suggestion that past heroes be commemorated around the stadium though
S-Clarke Posted 7 May, 2012 Posted 7 May, 2012 To be fair, we kind of have something similar hanging off of the TV Gantry - 'Together we stand'
brianoneils slidingtackle Posted 7 May, 2012 Posted 7 May, 2012 Yep, I like the "together we stand" banners inside and outside the stadium...
Alanh Posted 7 May, 2012 Posted 7 May, 2012 As said above we already have something like this on the front face of the TV gantry. The only problem being that as it is right under the TV cameras it never gets seen on TV.
wagon 84 Posted 7 May, 2012 Posted 7 May, 2012 To be fair, we kind of have something similar hanging off of the TV Gantry - 'Together we stand' Together we hate skates
Sour Mash Posted 7 May, 2012 Posted 7 May, 2012 Yep, I like the "together we stand" banners inside and outside the stadium... These banners are irresponsible, encouraging standing in an all seater arena. The club will need to reconsider this now we are Premier League and back in the national spot-light.
latter day saint Posted 7 May, 2012 Posted 7 May, 2012 looks good, plus maybe it would stop the mongs banging on the back boards at 100 mph
eelpie Posted 7 May, 2012 Posted 7 May, 2012 These banners are irresponsible, encouraging standing in an all seater arena. The club will need to reconsider this now we are Premier League and back in the national spot-light. Which is why I suggested 'Together We Succeed"
ericb Posted 8 May, 2012 Posted 8 May, 2012 I take it no one actually watched the video posted about the strettford end then? And to think we're now asking for something the United fans see as part of the death knell of their fan culture.... God i hate modern football.
theyin Posted 8 May, 2012 Posted 8 May, 2012 Whatever happened to the banner? #GETTINGOLD It's still a Marathon to me.

Mbizzle Posted 8 May, 2012 Posted 8 May, 2012 Terrible idea next you will want Cheerleaders and people going up and down the aisles selling pop-corn and hotdogs!!! Behave! I think honouring our past heroes is a bit different than buying into the OTT corporate dominanted manner in which americans feel they need to showcase sport.

The empty corporate statements at Fratton have put me right off any kind of club-led branding like this. I don't really mind the one we have on the tv gantry, but they're all over Fratton, telling you how great they think they are. I wonder who paid for them ? Oh yeah, no-one.

Most of these slogans are just empty corporate style guff, or communitst era 'Forward on to Victory' ********.
Fan The Flames Posted 8 May, 2012 Posted 8 May, 2012 I first read that as 'Come on Board', referencing the bus, thank god its not.
Crazy Diamond Posted 8 May, 2012 Posted 8 May, 2012 AFC Wimbledon hang them from the back of their stands, some of them are quite good.
harwellsaint Posted 8 May, 2012 Posted 8 May, 2012 thisYep, I like the "together we stand" banners inside and outside the stadium...
