JPTCount Posted 24 May, 2012 Share Posted 24 May, 2012 I've got an xperia arc atm, it's over a year old and it still goes fine. love the hd engine inside, and the camera is quality, i wouldn't mind an upgrade for speed and space but its not worth the money atm for me. i'd recommend buying a top end sim free phone thats about 6 months old, it will be half the price of a new fone and be only marginally not as good. in regard to apps my favorite free ones are; opera (smoother & faster than googles browser but no flash), bbc iplayer, bbc news, mx player (plays .avi files), google drive/docs (cloud service/document reader), adobe reader, espn goals (free permiership highlights, goals go up within 15 mins of being scored), soccer livescores (results from every league in the world), tesla LED (use the light as a torch), translate, tunein radio, whatsapp (free sms) & obvious stuff like skype, steam, angry birds and i'd highly recommend getting AVG, it scans any app u install for threats. dubai_phil Posted 24 May, 2012 Author Share Posted 24 May, 2012 Ooooo... dangerous talk trousers. I used to be a business systems analyst doing user needs and CB analysis. As a result I have a - hang on, where's the box - a Nokia 1112!;-) Looked into getting a smart phone but don't actually NEED one, and with my well known propensity for losing and breaking things decided the CBA was against it. Phone calls and texts are vital (and cheap) however ["Platform Tavern or Junction?"]... It would no doubt be fun to have a smart phone, but nobody is paying for or subsidising it so it can wait (and Italian telecomms prices don't encourage). As for DP's last question, worrying... he only wants to know to boost his post count on a certain thread!;-) Actually I was jealous of Trousers posting pics from teh stadium last season so wanted to use it more for Match threads next year from the Dubai Massive Pub Outings! And of course FB pics of my Daughter's wedding in 10 days for those that couldn't come

As it happens, I reckon Platform before and GD after.... I'm so looking forward to the first game....
Essruu Posted 24 May, 2012 Share Posted 24 May, 2012 I do that when I travel, in fact am taking 3 old fones to Italy (wedding) so family can all be in touch. It doesn't work so well when expanded out as a Corporate Strategy though (the whole call forwarding is an issue, 80% of the calls to a Smartfone or any other type are work calls they are made to the home country number so you'd still have the call costs. In country PAYG Data costs are lower than roaming that's true but still high Think some of the new Dual Sim generations of fones will help that problem. But your whole argument about the iPhone being too expensive when travelling is utter nonsense. It's not the phone choice that increases or decreases your bill!!!!!! You maybe a complete technophobe and have no idea about how the tariffs and charges work, but if all of your travelling guys are of the same mindset without having bothered to check the facts and actually think they're bills are 50% higher because their SIM card is in an iPhone instead of an Android handset, then god help your company!
