kwsaint Posted 6 May, 2012 Posted 6 May, 2012 Obviously it is fantastic to be back in the Prem, but what will you miss about the Championship and League 1? - Saints winning most weeks - Genuine supporters of other teams - Being first on Football League show Your thoughts?
SuperSAINT Posted 6 May, 2012 Posted 6 May, 2012 Being in the top 2 all season. Brilliant achievement.
david in sweden Posted 6 May, 2012 Posted 6 May, 2012 ..scoring the huge amount of goals we did..and all those clean sheets. half of the Prem. League sides average only one goal per game over the whole season
Dalek2003 Posted 6 May, 2012 Posted 6 May, 2012 The South Coast Der... oh wait, hang on. On that note have the boys from Brighton calmed down yet. Seeing as they were champions of League 1 it must be hard to come to terms to our season in the NPC compared to theirs. Shussssssssssssssssssh!
VectisSaint Posted 6 May, 2012 Posted 6 May, 2012 Losing to Bristol City and Rochdale. Twice. I must have missed us losing to Rochdale in the Championship. Will miss us winning more often than not. Get used to the fact that we will probably not win much more than 12-15 league games next season.
rick1976.4.38 Posted 6 May, 2012 Posted 6 May, 2012 no prawn sandwiches cheaper tickets winning more than losing
dubai_phil Posted 6 May, 2012 Posted 6 May, 2012 Dave Merrington. Every PL game is shown live on TV down here, up to 9 games on the same day. While I enjoyed the SaintsPlayer days sitting on the laptop bantering with the Nuns, I'll be downstairs in front of my proper telly (arrgh yet another Satellite dish to put on the roof and decoder to install) For Saturday games there will also now be more trips to the pub to watch with the ever growing Dubai Saints boys (and Hosties) - (Hell we even have our own corner in the bar now!). So yeah, I will miss finding out what we don't want to do now every game. But hopefully will get a Smartphone shortly so will still be on the match threads
stev2001 Posted 6 May, 2012 Posted 6 May, 2012 Being able to support two teams in the same league. Saints and the team playing pompey.

Seeing as they were champions of League 1 it must be hard to come to terms to our season in the NPC compared to theirs. Shussssssssssssssssssh! went to a wedding yesterday, and one of the ground staff from the Amex was there. the dislike for adkins at that clubs solely comes from Poyet. he kept going on about it to the staff and players last season also, he said poyet is a massive ******....and that some of their players are in the poo big time
View From The Top Posted 6 May, 2012 Posted 6 May, 2012 I'll miss excellent numbers at away games north of London.

That they are on the wrong side of Poyet ? Anyway, I can't take them seriously since the they caved in to Wham at Upton Park.

Ohio Saint Posted 6 May, 2012 Posted 6 May, 2012 As much as I have enjoyed the last 3 years immensely, I can honestly say there is nothing I would miss about being hidden away in the basement being thrown scraps from the higher-ups. Then I read Phil's post. The match day threads won't be the same at all now. I will definitely miss that. (Yes, even Alpine) They have been a lot of fun, as has our rise to the Premiership.
BlakeySFC Posted 6 May, 2012 Posted 6 May, 2012 (edited) All I'll miss is the regular 3PM kick-offs every saturday. The PL fixtures are so higgledypiggledy it's unbelievable. Every weekened we could be playing Saturday at 12:45/5:20, Sunday at 12:45/1:30/4PM or Monday Night (MNF) at 8PM Edited 6 May, 2012 by BlakeySFC
Window Cleaner Posted 6 May, 2012 Posted 6 May, 2012 8 extra matchdays and that's about it. Certainly won't miss the Watfords and Barnsleys of this world.
SOTONS EAST SIDE Posted 6 May, 2012 Posted 6 May, 2012 I will miss the hilarity of Poopey bending every rule in the the book. And their tears as they're so called "South coast Dominance" crumbled away like their support and their stay in the NPC!! THEM I WONT MISS! EVER!!!!
VectisSaint Posted 6 May, 2012 Posted 6 May, 2012 I actually read the original post. Unlike you it seems. Sorry, I read the title and overlooked the fact that the actual post added the words "League 1" Quite why someone puts a title and then changes it in the post itself is beyond me.

Good thing about the PL is that most games are at weekends, apart from the MNF of course. For those of us who live a few miles away this is actually much better than the many midweek 7.45 kick-offs.
wokingsaints Posted 6 May, 2012 Posted 6 May, 2012 i will struggle to get a ticket for most games now saints are in the creme de la creme league. i can only get to one or two games a season due to 101 family/work reasons. when saints where in the championship and league 1 i could always get a ticket up to the last min, think i will struggle now. and before anyone moans, my family circustances have changed since saints were last in the premiership.

Colinjb Posted 6 May, 2012 Posted 6 May, 2012 I will miss away days at Coventry. Was nice having two 'home' trips this year.

Know the feeling, but away games up North for me are easier, Newcastle, Sunderland, The Mancs and Scouse games will feature on the calendar - although they will probably end up being 8pm Mondays....

Badger Posted 6 May, 2012 Posted 6 May, 2012 Matches against real other clubs, with proper supporters rather than glory seeking arseholes.
Thedelldays Posted 6 May, 2012 Posted 6 May, 2012 Matches against real other clubs, with proper supporters rather than glory seeking arseholes. bit harsh
Badger Posted 6 May, 2012 Posted 6 May, 2012 bit harsh okay, perhaps I should only include the big six in that, ( and Everton who are just arseholes stuck in a timewarp and still wallowing in the Howard Kendall era).
Saint_lambden Posted 6 May, 2012 Posted 6 May, 2012 bit harsh But true. Fairly normal kick-off times most weekends and the person sitting next to me not getting up to go the toilet every 3 minutes or actually knowing who the players are.
Thedelldays Posted 6 May, 2012 Posted 6 May, 2012 okay, perhaps I should only include the big six in that, ( and Everton who are just arseholes stuck in a timewarp and still wallowing in the Howard Kendall era). not all those in the big 6 are glory hunters....for instance. man u away support is nothing but immense. they all sell out huge stadiums every week also, man city are hardly awash with glory supporters, they got huge attendances when in the lower divisions... I remember getting called a glory hunter here in plymouth in 2003....I kid you not
ericb Posted 6 May, 2012 Posted 6 May, 2012 Decent ticket prices, proper fans, winning more than losing, kick off times at normal times, grounds i've not been too, a lack of plastics, atmosphere in the grounds, not having to listen to every **** at work thinking they're an expert on your team due to match of the day, less JCLs, not coming second. I'm sure there are more but those are the ones that stand out. Still we'll be in the top flight again so i'm sure that'll more than make up for it, it's not like i was bored fu.cking witless of the premiership by the time we went down last time...... Oh.
S-Clarke Posted 6 May, 2012 Posted 6 May, 2012 Why are people still saying they'll miss 3pm kick offs? We will have more 3pm kick offs next year than we had in the 2nd half of this season.
rocknrollman no2 Posted 6 May, 2012 Posted 6 May, 2012 What will i miss about the Championship? Singing "We are Southampton,we,re top of the league". Winning most of our games. Meeting fans who are there to support Saints, rather than to see the other team. Being able to leave the stadium after the game within ten minutes. Reasonable ticket prices. Being able to stand amongst fans who can name the whole team. Being the first game on the football league show. When we win a game, the pundits saying it was because Saints were good, rather than because Manure,City etc were having an off day.
MAY-Z Posted 7 May, 2012 Posted 7 May, 2012 being in a thoroughly entertaining and very even league where most games mean something to most teams all season long
Flyer Posted 7 May, 2012 Posted 7 May, 2012 Give it a month and you will all be saying the refs believe it or not. Its sickening to watch the top 6 get every decision possible, the refs just cant wait to send someone off for nothing and/or award a pen against you.
svetigpung Posted 7 May, 2012 Posted 7 May, 2012 constantly slagging off the Premier League...."Its just one big buisness, your just a customer, less proper fans more companies, everythings about the money" Now were there , you have to embrace it all , i guess. Oh yer , Alan ******* Hansson will do my head in, every saturday!

Fully agree with all the above - in addition, all season ticket holders are gonna miss 4 home games next season (only 19 to go to vs 23 in League 1 and Championship)....and yet doubtless paying more.
Bucks Saint Posted 8 May, 2012 Posted 8 May, 2012 Having a reason to open another beer after MOTD finishes
alpine_saint Posted 8 May, 2012 Posted 8 May, 2012 Saturday afternoon non-televised kick-offs at 3pm. Not only because we dont seem to like the deviation as a team, but because I got my wife and kids trained to my absence betweeen 1600 and 1800.
saint-crinny Posted 8 May, 2012 Posted 8 May, 2012 Just to add - i won't miss Beagrie or Goodman on Sky, morons.
S-Clarke Posted 8 May, 2012 Posted 8 May, 2012 Just to add - i won't miss Beagrie or Goodman on Sky, morons. Whats wrong with them? I think they're decent pundits. I'm looking forward to being 'analyzed' by Garry Neville though, after a shaky start he has been a revelation and a massive step up from Andy Gray.

I agree...the first few months he was awful...you could see he was shytting himself.... now, I think he is excellent at what he does
