dronskisaint Posted 6 May, 2012 Share Posted 6 May, 2012 Adds to the whole 'feeling good about all things Saints' factor...a really nice thing to do..nice doesn't seem adequate but it is actually just an act that's just... nice!

Dimond Geezer Posted 6 May, 2012 Share Posted 6 May, 2012 Great story, I hope young Ben is on the mend. Well done to the players concerned. Just a thought, I assume the club had nothing to do with this, it would be nice, once Ben has recovered, for the parents to drop a thank-you note into the club, therefore making the club aware of what happened. Sergei Gotsmanov Posted 6 May, 2012 Share Posted 6 May, 2012 Last night we went to the Players Awards dinner but unfortunately our friends were unable to go as their 8 year old son was admitted to hospital during the afternoon. They asked us if we could get Danny Fox, Ben's favourite player, to write a get well message, which we thought we would be able to do. When we were talking with Danny he said no problem and was delighted to write a message. When we explained the situation he was genuinely concerned and said if he can do anymore just let him know. Later in the evening we started talking to Danny again and he remembered our earlier conversation and again said he would like to help and prehaps visit Ben in hospital. He gave us his mobile number and after a few texts this morning Danny contacted our friends and arranged to visit Ben on Sunday. Much to everyones surprise Danny turned up this afternoon to see Ben together with Adam Lallana and a signed shirt. It really was a lovely thing for Danny to do; our friends are needless to say, very worried and Danny's and Adam's visit lifted everyones spirits. Ben is doing very well and hopefully everything is moving in the right direction. Just thought it was worth posting to show that our players do have caring side and are willing to try to help others. Top bloke Danny Fox!! Proud to be a Southampton supporter
Frank's cousin Posted 6 May, 2012 Share Posted 6 May, 2012 In a word; Class Mr Fox and Mr Lallana - we salute you! Get well soon Ben! Thanks for posting this to the OP. Too often we see the crappy stories about players, so its nice that the good is given an outing. Makes you proud to be a Saints fan.
whelk Posted 6 May, 2012 Share Posted 6 May, 2012 the club seems so healthy and so obvious it is full of genuine good humble guys. Mark Clemmit speaking to Billy Sharp in latest FL podcase was full of praise of teh togetherness of decent lads that he witnessed at Coventry game http://www.football-league.co.uk/page/Podcast - quite near the start

SuperMikey Posted 6 May, 2012 Share Posted 6 May, 2012 Read this at work earlier and made me grin. Great story and nice to hear that we have a good bunch of lads at this club and not a load of c*cky ***ts like others do.
um pahars Posted 7 May, 2012 Share Posted 7 May, 2012 Cracking story, fair play to the two of them. I'm not sure that some of the players realise the influence and regard they are held in by many in the City. I have long advocated getting the players out in to the community as much as possible. Have to say the Saints Foundation are doing a very good job as well across the City getting out and involved.
Ian the Red Posted 7 May, 2012 Author Share Posted 7 May, 2012 Great story, I hope young Ben is on the mend. Well done to the players concerned. Just a thought, I assume the club had nothing to do with this, it would be nice, once Ben has recovered, for the parents to drop a thank-you note into the club, therefore making the club aware of what happened. I have emailed the Club as I believe both players, Danny Fox in particular deserves a huge pat on the back. Kindness and thoughtfulness are not two words normally associated with football players, but as everyone has said on this thread it really makes you proud to be a Saints fan when the players do something like this. Ivan Oar Posted 8 May, 2012 Share Posted 8 May, 2012 Nice to hear. I bumped into Danny in West Quay on the Monday after our promotion and I congratulated him and the team on a great season. He was really approachable, humble and polite and didn't seem too peeved some random wanted to chat to him in a shoe shop! Proud to be a Saint!
