Saint_clark Posted 4 May, 2012 Share Posted 4 May, 2012 Great video, but I hated the "tough year" comment to Sharp. He doesn't need telling, no less reminding at a time like that.
Colinjb Posted 4 May, 2012 Share Posted 4 May, 2012 Great video, but I hated the "tough year" comment to Sharp. He doesn't need telling, no less reminding at a time like that. The guy immediately knew he'd f**ked up, let Billy get away. Such a shame the editor would have seen fit to broadcast it.
Badger Posted 4 May, 2012 Share Posted 4 May, 2012 Someone who comes out of the tv coverage with credit as far as I'm concerned is 'Clem' , comes across a decent bloke that players are happy to chat to.He is a BBC sports journalist, just that with no pretentions of self importance. I dread next years coverage ,the grovelling (to mancs/l,pool, Rooney , Sir Anal, K^nt Kenny et al) and condescending or sneering that we will get from Hansen,Lawrenson and even 'Lineacre' next season, not to mention that bespeckled Irish spastic on MOTD 2 on a Sunday. I thought it was just a human error, not said heartlessly etc and would not condemn the bloke although possibly best not broadcast as you say. Not for me...he tries far too hard to be all the players and managers best mate.

Colinjb Posted 4 May, 2012 Share Posted 4 May, 2012 I got the impression the players quite like him. Probably why Billy Sharp didn't react too badly, knew he'd genuinely spoken the truth, he wasn't trying to be sensationalist, Clem knew him. Exactly, bit of banter with Nige at the start, seemed to have a good relationship with Rickie as well.
Didcot Saint Posted 5 May, 2012 Share Posted 5 May, 2012 I have just watched this again and it made me cry tears of joy. Fantastic.
Golden Balls Posted 7 May, 2012 Share Posted 7 May, 2012 The guy immediately knew he'd f**ked up, let Billy get away. Such a shame the editor would have seen fit to broadcast it. He had Billy Sharp on the Football League podcast and mentioned it again. Maybe he could have bought it up alongside mentioning the ljs foundation but he just mentioned the passing of his son straight up. Feel for Billy really as he will keep getting reminded of it. theyin Posted 8 May, 2012 Share Posted 8 May, 2012 Come off it - Clem's role is to act as the voice of the people. He is simply echoing many people's thoughts or conversations, probably on here, and offering through Clem our compassion and recognition of a superb season considering what he went through. There was no malice. TV is a visual medium, he offered the statement, their was a reaction that said it all and Billy could go. Powerful television. As for the video itself, first time I've seen it, straight to my youtube favourites. Got a bit choked there. Aaaaannnd 2, 3, 4 phewwwww

Appy Posted 9 May, 2012 Share Posted 9 May, 2012 Nothing wrong with Clem, they reason he acts like player's mates, is because he probably is.
