dinger Posted 4 May, 2012 Share Posted 4 May, 2012 Bad news here, I'm afraid Time to give Check Your Head a spin. There can't be a record I've listened to more often. RIP
ericb Posted 4 May, 2012 Share Posted 4 May, 2012 Fuc.king terrible news, not a surprise sadly but the Beasties were one of those acts that shaped a generation RIP
dinger Posted 4 May, 2012 Author Share Posted 4 May, 2012 If any Mods read this forum, could you change my inadvertently disrespectful thread title to all CAPS? Ta.
swannymere Posted 4 May, 2012 Share Posted 4 May, 2012 I'm feeling sad, never good when childhood heroes die. RIP MCA :-(
Cestrian Saint Posted 4 May, 2012 Share Posted 4 May, 2012 I'm feeling sad, never good when childhood heroes die. RIP MCA :-( Exactly. Part of the soundtrack of my life. The Beastie Boys took Hip Hop to a new audience. Always innovative and ground breaking. I knew he was in a bad way but the press had always said that it was a 'treatable' form of cancer and that he was expected to make a full recovery. 47 is far too young. Absolutely gutted. RIP MCA. Saint137 Posted 4 May, 2012 Share Posted 4 May, 2012 He doesn't strike me as the type to want to Rest in Peace. Off to play the back catalogue turned up to
1885 Posted 5 May, 2012 Share Posted 5 May, 2012 Another youthtime hero dead, for me as well. I'm shocked + devasted as a wonderful musician has gone too soon... "Licensed to ill" will always be one of my all time favourite records.
TheCholulaKid Posted 5 May, 2012 Share Posted 5 May, 2012 Saw them live a few times - always a proper party. Worth checking out the Glasgow gig from 1999 on youtube if you never had the opportunity. Music snobs will tell you Paul's Boutique was their best but Check Your Head has always got the most plays in this household. As someone above mentioned, soundtracked my life...
