I'm feeling sad, never good when childhood heroes die. RIP MCA :-(

 

Exactly. Part of the soundtrack of my life. The Beastie Boys took Hip Hop to a new audience. Always innovative and ground breaking. I knew he was in a bad way but the press had always said that it was a 'treatable' form of cancer and that he was expected to make a full recovery. 47 is far too young. Absolutely gutted.

I'm shocked + devasted as a wonderful musician has gone too soon...

"Licensed to ill" will always be one of my all time favourite records.

Saw them live a few times - always a proper party. Worth checking out the Glasgow gig from 1999 on youtube if you never had the opportunity.

 

Music snobs will tell you Paul's Boutique was their best but Check Your Head has always got the most plays in this household. As someone above mentioned, soundtracked my life...
