Season Ticket Pricing

Recommended Posts

Will there be a max number of season tickets for sale, ie 32000 minus away end?

Or are they obliged to keep a certain % available for general sale?

According to the 100% accurate Google, Everton have 24k season ticket holders, Liverpool have 28k & Chelsea have 25k, so I highly doubt this will be an issue unless we're selling them for £20

Its a shame that the reward for ambition is less games and more games at ****ty times. We'll be lucky to have 10 games at 3 o'clock on a Saturday next season. Which actually makes having a ST less attractive.
You're just making up cr@p now.

Hope we can sell 20k plus. How many last time in the prem?

I found this on in an article on Derby County's OS, the season they were promoted to the Premier League.

"Derby County have an obligation to make 15% of the 33,500 stadium capacity available to away fans for home cup matches and 10% for home league games.

FA Premier League rules stipulate 5% of capacity has to be made available to home fans who are not season ticket holders and the overall capacity is also reduced by segregation measures and facilitating live TV broadcasts."

So in our case,

Capacity - 32,689

5% of capacity for general sale to home supporters - 1,634

5% of capacity for away supporters - 3,269

Approx 350-500 seats for segregation.

So the maximum number of season tickets we could sell would be around 27,200.

I seem to recall we had 22K STH the season after we reached the Cup Final, and I think it will be between 20-22K for next season.

Pretty sure the highest it got was around 23K.

Does 7 years out of the prem create a higher demand than last time? Especially after the excitement of a first promotion to the top flight for 34 years. 23-24K would be my guess.

Pricing will of course have a big effect; as will a decent payment plan. Can't see any reason we won't be comfortbaly above 20K, with prices that aren't a huge hike from last year and the new payment plan I think we'll be close to that 23K figure.

Yeah thinking about it price is everything. £350 STs and we'd need a bigger stadium, £750+ and we will struggle to get more than last season. You are also right about a decent payment plan. A lot of peeps don't have that sort of cash in one go and don't want to take a bank loan.

We won't have enough people prepared to pay £800. Giving away seats for free won't happen in the Prem I'm afraid.

They have to be careful with the kids tickets or they'll lose plenty of younger fans as dads, such as me, can't absorb say and extra £150 for us and then another £150 for the kids.

Those I sit with are in the same position.

I think they'll move the family centre, give a decent deal but limit numbers.

Of course they'll be deals for those with young kids, but I think some of the deals have been.so good in recent years that future expectations are unrealistic.

They have to be careful. My (family centre) season ticket was £380 + my nippers at £0. Say they up mine to £499 and the nippers for £150 that's an extra £270 or a 70+% rise.

If they say £600 for the ends and £150 for the nipper that's near enough 100%.

I reckon it may be a case that if you want "your" seat and it's no longer in the family centre you pay the going rate and if you move you get the discounted one.

Either way I'm lucky enough to be able to afford one (with a decent DD scheme) but if the rise is too steep then it will be the midland/northern games only for us.

But is the increase so big because the previously

deals were exceptional and probably unsustainable good for a successful side?

Agree re. the family centre going back to just the corner rather than a whole end.

That's the same as saying "well kids, thanks for coming when we were sh.it are needed your support but now we are in the big league you can all fu.ck off as some other mug will pay big bucks to watch Utd for a season, but if we go down will do you a deal again."

No it's not if you're still getting a very good deal and paying less than everyone else.

If there are no deals then we won't be will we and that's my worry. Plenty of young kids around me with their dads & mums and I'd hate to see them priced out.

As I said, I'm in the position I can afford them but I know that there are some of those around me that aren't but were there week in week out in L1.

Who is saying there won't be any deals? Just that to expect free tickets and massive price reductions to watch Premier League football just because you've got a young kid is a bit unrealistic to say the least.

Who the fu.ck is saying that? What I'm clearly saying is that increases should be carefully managed to not to exclude plenty of the families who have stuck by the club during the L1 years as well as this.

You said above 'if there are no deals', no-one is suggesting that. There should of course be deals, but you've got to expect a fair size increase. It would still likely to be fantastic value.

There's no room for sentiment in this business. You like it or lump it. If we're in the Premier League and you don't like it someone else will take your seats off your hands.

So what is a good deal then? As I said £499 +1 or even £599 +1 (U11s) limited to one of the corners sees is a 33% / 61% rise. £499 + £150 or £599 + £150 = 71% / 97% rise.

And then people mither about all the empty seats when we go back down.

Also, considering how much whinging you did this year about the booking fee I'm not sure you're in any position to comment on sentiment in business.

People hardly flocked to SMS this season did they when we were having the best season for years.

well, it happens to every single club that goes down bar about 2.....we are no different.

if we went into the conference we won't get the average of this season...

just the way it goes

£799 centres, £699 wings, £599 ends & £499 inc 1 x U11 (limited numbers) family centre.

For the center stands that were £515.00 last year, and remembering we only get 19 games this year, do you honestly think that a £19.66 increase per match or in percentage terms 83% increase per match for a season ticket cost at £799.00. Think your estimations would be financial suicide for Nicola.

The second best average attendance in the division might suggest otherwise. And an average attendance well in excess of the last few seasons we spent in The Championship.

I'd say £550 adults with £150 for kids would be fair and still offer great value. Your suggestion earlier of £499 with a kids ticket thrown in free while expecting others to pay £800 is neither fair nor realistic.

If we go back down then the pricing strategy is adjusted accordingly. The point is that the club are now in a strong demand/supply position and they can pretty much do what they want. If you don't like it - tough. Family stand prices have been subsidised by everyone else too much recently so I think we need to see a rebalancing otherwise there will be a situation where standard adult season tickets become too high.

Why do people get their knickers in such a twist over more people wanting tickets for the bigger games?

It happens to every club .

Did the Beatles fans from 1960 start waving their Cavern tickets at Shea Stadium and moan about JCL's. When things get popular, people jump on the bandwagon ot want to watch. There would be something seriously wrong if our attendances remained the same after promotion.

My opinion is that tickets will be the harder to get hold of this season, and without some sort of membership I may get a S/T even though I'll miss a few games. It was why I kept one at The Dell even though I missed games. When I see what the proposals are, what the cost is, and (if possible) the allocation of away tickets, I'll make a decision.
