Electronic Advertising Boards

It seems like a new symbol of Premier League wealth to have the electronic advetising boards at your stadium.

QPR, Swansea and Norwich all installed them in time for the start of the PL season...so will we install them too?

Does anybody care either way?

I personally feel if we don't install them then SMS could feel a bit dated to the new PL Sky audience.

Doesn't every PL stadium have them? I have always thought that they were supplied by the advertising company and not the club. I hate the things, even though my business is based on something similar.

I'm currently travelling in the US and Canada and whilst staying with friends have been grateful for their sports channels as every Premier league game is shown live as well as many of the Championship games. When I've been stuck in a motel, I've been glad of firstrowsports.eu that has carried many games. It's the TV advertising that drives it - but the only Yaris' in California have a boot!

A 12:30 kick off when you're 8 hours behind is a killer! But the reward....

I wonder if we get them, whether advertising would have an effect on our chants? "He plays on the right, he plays on the left, Adam Lallana thinks Pepsi tastes best."

I don't see them as a status symbol. They're a bloody nuisance.

So is having undersoil heating, will that have to be installed at a huge expense or will Saints be denied entry to the PL?
We have it... on half the pitch. Looks like we'll be in the 5 a side leagues instead...

I've done a tiny bit of self-research and found that every PL club does indeed have the electronic advertising boards.

Some have them on just one side of the stadium that the camera sees, but most have them around 3/4 or all of the stadium.

Also, I've looked through the PL handbook for last season and I can't see any precise rules that say you have to put the electronic advertising boards up for TV audiences, or that they'll be erected by Sky for their live TV matches.

So presumably, every PL club or their sponsors just like them to have them up?

Would think it was very likely Nicola would install these as they provide incredible revenue for the club from sponsors. Just 1 minute of advertising costs on average £3,500-£6,000 during a live PL match.

Obviously I was joking as theres no way that would happen, Im sure they would be given a year to get it working.

As for the boards, I think they have to cover at least 3 sides and I think it is a rule as all 3 promoted clubs got them this season. Loftus Road was already tight but now theres about 1m from the touchline to the boards now.

Everything needed is underneath the pitch and ready to go, it just needs to be connected up and we're good to go.

Though when your stadium is in Costa Del Southampton, it's not needed.

I thought they only installed some ducts under the pitch and the works to complete it is actually quite costly and not just a case of connecting up!

Anyone know how many games have been called off at St Marys due to a frozen pitch?
