patred44 Posted 30 April, 2012 Posted 30 April, 2012 Earlier in the season West Ham told Rob Green that they won't be offering a new contract until they knew which division they would be playing in. Earlier today Rob Green told West Ham that no matter what division they will be playing in he doesn't want to play for them. He is now available on a free come the 1st June.
Matthew Le God Posted 30 April, 2012 Posted 30 April, 2012 He is now available on a free come the 1st June. His contract will end on 30th June.
Saint Stimp Posted 30 April, 2012 Posted 30 April, 2012 I don't think I could deal with the boring 'USA USA USA' chants coming from every single team we play.

Wiggles31 Posted 30 April, 2012 Posted 30 April, 2012 Worse than Davis. A bag of mistakes is old Green.
Hopkins Posted 30 April, 2012 Posted 30 April, 2012 I think people will be disappointed if they expect a new No1 next season. Not only is Davis capable IMO but Adkins is big on his team ethic and his experienced players play a MASSIVE role of that. Davis is huge in this area and to replace him would be foolish on many levels. A new younger back up with the plan to phase Davis out over a period of time maybe...but a goalkeeper expecting to be starting...no chance.

A new younger back up with the plan to phase Davis out over a period of time maybe...but a goalkeeper expecting to be starting...no chance. Spot on. I'd expect to see Bart go, but he will be replaced by a young goal keeper with the potential to replace Davis long-term. That's how i see it anyway.
Big_Bald_Si Posted 30 April, 2012 Posted 30 April, 2012 One of the most overrated keepers of recent times. If you look at various football stat sites, he was regularly the premiership keeper with the largest amount of fumbles. Now don't get me wrong, I love Kelvin to bits, but I always find myself being on the verge of sh1tt1ing myself every time a cross comes in, or the ball gets passed back to him for a hoof upfield. God knows what I'd be like with Green between the sticks.
jimbojones10 Posted 30 April, 2012 Posted 30 April, 2012 hes crap, i think we should go for joe lewis seeing that hes being released by posh, former england u21, still young can learn from super kelv.
Thedelldays Posted 30 April, 2012 Posted 30 April, 2012 the fella from chelsea.....cutounis or something...trouble is, he will want to be number 1
SNSUN Posted 30 April, 2012 Posted 30 April, 2012 No to Green. I agree that we may see Davis as our number 1 next season, and I'm happy with that - he's best at shot stopping, and we'll need that in abundance next season.
S-Clarke Posted 30 April, 2012 Posted 30 April, 2012 the fella from chelsea.....cutounis or something...trouble is, he will want to be number 1 He'd only be a loan here, and Chelsea wouldn't want him to sit on the bench. He made a total clanger last night though to be fair, but he's proven to be a very good keeper for Atheltic Madrid. I'm sure Chelsea see him as the long-term replacement for Cech.
the saint in winchester Posted 30 April, 2012 Posted 30 April, 2012 Isn't it ironic? Like raaiiiinnnn ... sorry ... A few years ago West Ham wanted Davis as backup to Green .... now we don't want Green as backup to Davis. Hmm. Yeah, Joe Lewis mentioned above - definitely want a young keeper to learn from Kelvin with a view to taking over in a couple of years. Not an ageing rocker who is into the second half of his career.
View From The Top Posted 30 April, 2012 Posted 30 April, 2012 Fielding from Derby or Steele from Boro would be ideal young up and coming deputies but Gilkes from B'pool would be my 1st choice.
Smirking_Saint Posted 30 April, 2012 Posted 30 April, 2012 His contract will end on 30th June. You cant help yourself can you ?
VectisSaint Posted 30 April, 2012 Posted 30 April, 2012 No better than Davis. Possibly not (although debatable) but far better than Bart or Tommy Fourpast.
Quickfire Double Posted 30 April, 2012 Posted 30 April, 2012 Having been sat at the front of the Northam v Norwich the season we dropped out the Prem, Green can fark rite off.
Dark Munster Posted 30 April, 2012 Posted 30 April, 2012 Spot on. I'd expect to see Bart go, but he will be replaced by a young goal keeper with the potential to replace Davis long-term. That's how i see it anyway. Our Tommy, maybe?
ozzmeister Posted 30 April, 2012 Posted 30 April, 2012 Smeichael, would he accept being number 2 for a period of time? Who's the english goalie who went to play in turkey?
The Cat Posted 30 April, 2012 Posted 30 April, 2012 He's no better than Davis and Green's wages would be massive too, especially if he's available on a free.
sambosa75 Posted 30 April, 2012 Posted 30 April, 2012 We have the Championships best goalkeeper as evidenced by his inclusion in this seasons team of the year. Why sign an inferior keeper?
sambosa75 Posted 30 April, 2012 Posted 30 April, 2012 Smeichael, would he accept being number 2 for a period of time? Who's the english goalie who went to play in turkey? Kaspar Schmeichel is over-rated. Scott Carson? God no.
whizzpop Posted 30 April, 2012 Posted 30 April, 2012 For me a younger keeper is the solution a la Joe Lewis or Alex Smithies.
Under Weststand Posted 30 April, 2012 Posted 30 April, 2012 Please no. I don't see that Green is any better than Davis. He doesn't fit the type of player we seem to look to sign. I'd see us going for either Schmeichel or Hennessey at Wolves, an up and coming keeper.
CB Fry Posted 30 April, 2012 Posted 30 April, 2012 Might not be a popular call but I think we need a Neimi to Davis's Paul Jones. We have a good keeper. Maybe we need a better one.
View From The Top Posted 30 April, 2012 Posted 30 April, 2012 For me a younger keeper is the solution a la Joe Lewis or Alex Smithies. Lewis is a poor keeper.
Appy Posted 30 April, 2012 Posted 30 April, 2012 Possibly not (although debatable) but far better than Bart or Tommy Fourpast. It really isn't, he is no better than Davis.
Chez Posted 30 April, 2012 Posted 30 April, 2012 Fielding from Derby one of the worst keepers I saw this season, can't kick a ball to save his life. If you went to the England U21 game at SMS you'd surely never want to see him in a Saints shirt ever. Looked terrible. We can do much much better IMO.
pangy Posted 30 April, 2012 Posted 30 April, 2012 Kelv has a good few seasons in him, look at Freidiel,Schwarzer etc all late 30's providing Kelv keeps himself in good condition he will no doubt see out his career with us
Chez Posted 30 April, 2012 Posted 30 April, 2012 Might not be a popular call but I think we need a Neimi to Davis's Paul Jones. We have a good keeper. Maybe we need a better one.I'm a huge fan of Davis but at some point we'll need to look for another keeper. No point us signing a `number 2' other than to keep a lid on wages. If the funds are there lets get a Premiership keeper. If Davis does his stuff he keeps his shirt, if he doesn't then we make the change. Let's give ourself a choice. The Dutch keeper we looked at in January he may be on the cards.
BadgerBadger Posted 30 April, 2012 Posted 30 April, 2012 They'll be no big name charlies, relatively unknown talent ripe for progressing will be where we're at - what about Rudi Skacel
markr27 Posted 30 April, 2012 Posted 30 April, 2012 Alex McCarthy would be worth a punt and getable, if he didn't play for Reading that is.
DrunkenSaint Posted 1 May, 2012 Posted 1 May, 2012 If my memory is correct back in November we were linked with a keeper from Holland for around 1.5m but he wouldn't be able to move til the summer. Newcastle was also scouting him.
Kingsbridge Saint Posted 1 May, 2012 Posted 1 May, 2012 Cover for Kelvin isn't a priority in my opinion.
Dimond Geezer Posted 1 May, 2012 Posted 1 May, 2012 Cover for Kelvin isn't a priority in my opinion. I think cover is definitely a priority, sadly Bart isn't up to the job.
Saint86 Posted 1 May, 2012 Posted 1 May, 2012 Sign Steele from Boro and leave it at that. Good competition for Davis and will be a top goalie in a few years anyway.
Ian the Red Posted 1 May, 2012 Posted 1 May, 2012 We definitely need another keeper, but not Green, no better than KD. Kasper Schmeichel is the one we want
LatvianTolix Posted 1 May, 2012 Posted 1 May, 2012 Would rather prefer Tim Howard from Everton who is also out of contract this summer.
Dibden Purlieu Saint Posted 1 May, 2012 Posted 1 May, 2012 Schmeichel is so damn over-rated. I would go for a young backup keeper along the lines of Scott Loach , Mark Bunn or the Boro keeper (Steele).
