Someone who works in the Megastore is a friend of a friend on Facebook and has just said they haven't released the numbers yet but they do have some inside info... I'm guessing they know Rodriguez is 9,the others are the same and that's about it! But that's guesswork on my part, he says buy a shirt and they'll tell you!

Surely we need to know what colour underpants (sorry 'kecks' now we are scousers) need to be worn with the red shorts' date=' white or are they going for a cool black? [/quote']

You can tell you don't buy the shorts, the grundies are built in.

Quiet on here this morning - presumably everybody is queueing up to get their hands on the new shirts - or maybe it's just because it is Sunday!!

People are in bed. No one will be queueing, I haven't seen a queue on launch day ever without some half baked event going on too.

Time has lessened my dislike for the new kit (it's the all red thing that bugs me, not the shirt per sé.)

However, just like the Sash kit, which I absolutely loved...... after about three months of the season I will begin to get really bored of it and wish we were back in the Stripes with black shorts/white socks.

we all went ballistic at the sight of the lotto ball on the 125th anniversary crest and where did it get us? Nowhere. So stop giving yourself rsi, you're not going to change anything. It ain't saints but it's hear to stay for a season at least. Nc's his own man, don't give a hoot about upsetting us an probably has his reasons so put up and shut up. He's helped get us where we are today so be grateful for that for no matter how much we bleat this is a totaliterian leadership. It's his ship an he'll steer it where he wants. Learn to live with it.

Sad acts.

How about that, I agree with you.

I am amazed by that, I've been down there myself before and there's been no-one.

In case anyone's wondering, I'm at home eating a bacon sandwich.

Queue stretches outside West Quay and round the corner. It seems some people like the new kit.

So just seen the shirt in the west quay store. It looks pretty neat tbh.

Also, after the hysteria, there is a shirt printing station in west quay, by GAP.

Wow! As overreactions go, this kit thread is up there with the London riots & ridiculous sentence subsequently handed out for local lad making an ill-thought tongue in cheek quip about calling people to riot on Facebook!!

It must be the lack of face to face contact that prevents quashing these inwardly inflating trains of thought. It's a poor kit. Esp. for the return to the PL but its merely a kit; a colour. On the Sky matches televised or from your seat in the stands, it won't make much difference.

I'm getting the home shirt next week......if any are left

I never got last seasons shirt as it was just another bland red and white striped shirt...we have had loads of those

Like it or not, why do people have a desperate need to be seen having something new as soon as possible?

Whether an iPhone, saints shirt or harry potter book, you gain very little from having it 24 hours earlier, have to make a big effort to do so and look like an obsessive materialistic nobstick.

Or does wearing a shirt before anyone else make you feel amazing? It can't be that thing of not wanting to be seen in the same top as other people.

I've never understood people wanting to queue (and/or camp overnight) in order to get something a day or two before someone else... Waste of time and effort if you ask me.

Agree its a ego thing to make them feel better about themselves I suppose.

I can see this kit being 2nd only to the sash top in best sales in recent history..

Sales will be as much to do with us being Premier League than the design. Calm down.

We would have had queues just as long for red and white stripes.

you simply do not know that for a FACT...although you are probably right

well, if it was hated as much as people say...then people just won't buy it at the numbers I'm sure they are expecting...seeing as it is only for a year

Chelsea play in blue shirts, Manchester United in red, Everton in blue, Southampton in red and white stripes. Call me old fashioned but that is what I think we should wear. So is this the "Soutjampton way" he has been crowing about? Changing our heritage?

Not just changing our heritage but adding a random "j" to our name too. Where will this madness end?

Posted (edited)

Would people rather be in L1, or even L2, with red and white stripes and potentially no future, or would you prefer to be in the PL with a predominately red kit and a forward thinking chairman.

No brainier. I'm sure that post will be ripped apart, because good god, you cannot be positive. It's all awful at Southampton, it's run by clowns who are destroying our history apparently.

I said the same about us for years before NC and co came in, we as fans lived in the past. Craving the likes of Beattie coming back, Killer returning from a career ending injury, fans back on the board, old traditional kits every year.

Now we're looking into the future with a plan, it's time to stop looking at the past. No reason to forget it at all, but you cannot live in your past - it's time to create a new history.

I wonder what the reaction was when we have the red kit in the 80's..?

There are white pinstripes on the kit.

Most of the marketing and posters have featured 'red & white Army'.

We are not changing our heritage.

probably 1 or 2 people on the street against it, because in the context this is all the forum really represents going by the queues at West Quay today.

So much for it being a poor seller. Good old forum posters.

Perhaps we should change the colours on the Union Jack too? Surely they are a bit jaded now? Ferrari should race in yellow perhaps? There is nothing wrong with tradition and being proud of your team's colours. We are not Liverpool, we are Southampton FC and the stripes were the reason I stared supporting the club in 1966.

If Lowe had done this would everyone be saying ooooooh cool? Very sad as far as I'm concerned. Our first season back in the Premiership and we should proudly wear the stripes that represent Southampton Football Club.

did you have a problem in the 80's with the solid red top..? or 2 seasons ago..? where is your cry for blue shorts and socks..we had those for half of our existence ffs..more so than black shorts

What a load of utter guff.

So are you saying that the red kit will keep us up and boring old stripes will see us relegated?

What if we go back to stripes next season? Would that be like signing Beattie and dwelling on the past?

Hysterical nonsense to be honest.

We are still wearing red and white, just not as predominantly as before.

Why bring Lowe into it? What's the relevance to that?

what the hell are you on about? Where have I said that at all?

I've said it's about moving forward with the times, I've not said that a kit will keep us up or send us down. Its not that important.

Stop twisting peoples posts, because you are pulling every single thread down to your level. You used to be a decent poster but you are incredibly tedious and you post quite a lot of guff, let's be honest.

We didn't wear red and white stripes throughout the 1980s. Did you stop supporting the club then?

Our new kit is not moving with the times.

Seriously, its just a slightly different design than usual. Its being turned into far more than it is.

And you're the one making some kind of link between being promoted and having a new kit. No one is saying they would rather be L1 in stripes but didn't stop you making a stupid point.

Well of course he did. We all did. Back then people weren't afraid to stand up for what's right. Now it's all Twitter and rolling over to have your bottom tickled by megalomaniacal football chairmen.

What did we do in the 1980s when we stopped wearing red and white stripes?

Please can you confirm what sauce you've had in it? Ta

Sorry, can't give away my sauces.

But I've heard it's predominantly red. :D

Have to remember that supporting the team by buying a kit does not necessarily equate to liking the kit. Many people will buy it simply because it is the new one and they support the team.
