It seems to me that the players aren't overstruck on the kit - see Sharpedo's tweet etc - I therefore have revised my season predictions downward to relegation scrap and possible relegation. If the players where a kit they love (ala last season's home and away) then they feel more confident and play better. If they play a strip that they feel is awful, they will play worse. Which means our home form, which is crucial in the premier, is going to be at least slightly affected by this travesty of a kit. I think it will the worst kit in the premier, and why the hell is it all red. FFS.

The shirt itself is okay, but the colour makes in very hard to wear with anything other than white/black shorts and sock - which would be man utd. The away kit isn't bad. But in no way are either of these kits a touch on last years home or away. They were ****ing gorgeous and were the best kits we have had in a long long long time. We have gone from that to something which makes me turn my head in embarrassment. And please, fire the moron who thought that conceptually a red kit and a white kit was a clever idea - how much did he get paid for that dip**** brainstorm.

Oh Dear God

Re: the 'clash' with Stoke's and Sunderland's striped home kit....just a thought....isn't it their problem rather than ours that their home kit clashes with both of our kits?

We've chosen two colours that are pretty much polar opposites of each other....red and white. It shouldn't be our problem if an opponent chooses to have a kit that clashes with both.

The only way it should be our problem is if the Premier League has a rule that says you can't have a home strip and away strip that are the same as another team using both those colours in their home strip.

But WE are the "opponent that chooses" to have two kits that both clash with existing established home kits.

If it is a problem (unclear if it is) it's our problem.

It's only our problem if the Premier League tell us that a red kit and a white kit is unacceptable.

Yes . But at no point will it be Sunderland/Stoke's problem which is what you were suggesting.

Ah, someone gets my point! The point is that none of us really wants to copy the Scousers even if some aren't as bothered as others. 59 year old blue socks aside, (I've only supported Saints for 40 odd years), we have several generations of feeling red and white. I quite like the idea that the shirt changes a bit from season to season but going all red is too far to go without consulting the faithful. Chavfinch is SERIOUS!

Does anyone else find grown men getting so wound up by a football shirt a bit odd or is it just me?

Personally i couldn't really care less what it is since it's more about the team. Mind you we'd be ****/ed if they changed it too much since so many of our songs include something to do with red/white.

I seem to be one of the few Red and whites around. You from Waterlooville?

I will not boycott the club! Will go as usual and get '****' from my Scouse mates for copying.

I've already told my plastic scouse mates that we've got a horrible Scouse kit.

We all went ballistic at the sight of the lotto ball on the 125th anniversary crest and where did it get us? Nowhere. So stop giving yourself RSI, you're not going to change anything. It ain't Saints but it's hear to stay for a season at least. NC's his own man, don't give a hoot about upsetting us an probably has his reasons so put up and shut up. He's helped get us where we are today so be grateful for that for no matter how much we bleat this is a totaliterian leadership. It's his ship an he'll steer it where he wants. Learn to live with it.

Are you NC? This page is for not shutting up! Will have to learn to live with it. My boy only wears Saints stuff round the house and pajamas to bed etc. only changes for school. He's seen the new kit already and is hot on the case. All that red will clash with my bad tempered face. You are right to an extent. Even I will be a red for a season. Hail NC! Long live Red and White!

so ur in the school of thought that thinks management and leadership can be taught then? regardless, its the way u posted the correction, and after someone had already done it.

to get to the online store u have to navigate the site, which is ****e, and run by FL interactive (or whatever they are called). the url doesn't really matter, it just means its a secure part of saintsfc.co.uk. my point was that all the FL sites a probably run by the clubs offices using a content management system, but all kept on the same server somewhere in scotland. and i doubt pacaging would ever become too much for the club to handle, if it does I'm sure NC will expand the packing room.

the red sox bit wans't serious, just an example of thing other large clubs have done to increase the sale of merch

Erm, I believe you can learn things on management courses that don't relate to management.

As for "I heard the first guy" I didn't see the other response, in fact checking back through I still haven't seen it.

It's perfectly possible that the redirect to the Secure URL means it is a separate site. Either way you can link to it directly without the OS and we could probably update it independently. Especially as we're sponsored by a Web solutions company.

For 59 years Saints wore blue shorts and blue socks. Why aren't you calling for a return to blue shorts and blue socks?

I think I'd be pretty happy with red and white striped shirt, navy shorts and socks, definitely preferable to all red.

Close up of the home shirt. It's not one pinstripe, its two.

The logo looks properly sh*t :lol:

I detect the start of moobs!

Anyway 40+ pages is impressive for something so unimportant, some of you have been on it like a car bonnet. FWIW I think its okay, prefer the away but it matters not.

Its nice to be a little different once in a while, Ive no doubt what so ever that some of you b i t c h e s would have been moaning that we looked like Stoke etc if it was the usual s**t strips.

Our away kit isn't all white. It has red pinstripes, and red trim on the collar (and seemingly also the sleeves).

In fact, since the pedants on here keep insisting that the home kit IS 'red & white stripes', by extension doesn't that mean our away kit is also 'red & white stripes' (or perhaps more accurately 'white & red stripes')?

Are we allowed to have 'red & white stripes' for both home and away shirts? Perhaps we got special authorisation from the Premier League...?

Yep, Cardiff are now red (or is it another team?). I think a real moan would be in order if we were to become blue.

Not on here - it would just be seen as 'different & exciting', or 'taking us to the next level' or similar such bow-locks...

but not management...?

it's there, but i cba to find and quote it. anyway, i thought u were on this thread more than ur on ur missus?

well done, that is possible, there are many possibilities, but we don't know, so its just conjecture. which was what ur against in the first place, FACTZ ONLY!!!!

but u try and sidetrack me with talk of direct links (lolz), all i'm saying is that the current site is not suited for a new, and international, spurt of business. it is driven towards the interests of FL interactive, and their sponsors, not the club who use the site. if u can't understand what i'm saying please don't keep responding.

That is a beautiful top - even better looking close up. It's about time we had a quality strip - hopefully we''ll move in even further and get a deal with Nike next and national retail. Again, well done the club - you have broken from the often naff strips of the past and delivered a quality home and away strip.

WELL DONE SOUTHAMPTON FC TO HAVE THE COURAGE TO FOLLOW YOUR CONVICTIONS.

I didn't mention my thoughts on teaching management, it was you that implied you couldn't teach it.

I also didn't say it wasn't there, merely that I hadn't seen it, so your suggestion that I was correcting the previous post was wrong. Though I am this time.

I also didn't say I wanted the thread to only be facts. You're terrible at this.

As for the website, we can change it, and probably will, so it's hardly restrictive.

I'm on here plenty, it's easier to access.

Quite like that Sheff Weds one. Will be interested to see if Reading's hoops go right around too...

While I'm on here (still ill), just thought I might revise my opinion of the squad numbers being released. I had thought it would be obvious that the club would release the new numbers before shirt printing could begin (11am today), but I've just reread the OS article and it says the print area outside M&S will be there for "names and favourite numbers" which suggests they very well might be planning on doing this without confirming numbers first, which is utter fookwittery.

Where's Flyer with his theory that QPR's kit is unique because Reading's hoops don't go all the way around?

887l-2.jpg

They've also gone to the trouble of telling their fans that squad numbers aren't confirmed yet even though you can't buy it until 13th.

Also, EIGHT QUID for a pair of Prem sleeve badges? Did they used to be £5 each then?

Mildly amused that their away kit is Oxford colours.

So you think it's beautiful but want us to change manufacturer? That doesn't make a lot of sense.

Also, why Nike? They're producing some really ugly blending effects at the moment, and as the mock Up on here showed, the current Barca template looks awful in red/white.

What convictions are these? To change the basic shirt look for no good reason other than a misguided attempt at getting a few more quid? Hardly a commendable , especially as it's likely to sell less unless we target the overseas market in which case anything will sell more and they may as well have gone with a more familiar design.

Dunno, but Glasgow did actually send me a friend request, which made me laugh. Unfortunately I only have people I actually know on my friends list on here, and I have no idea why the purpose of that feature is anyway.

I think the logic behind the kit is to make it easy for all the newbies next season to identify the players, as the numbers & names will be much clearer than on a stripey background.

Personally though, I'm not really fussed. I'll think I'll cope with the change & not have a breakdown over it, I've just checked & the world is still turning & the sun rose this morning.

I support Saints, it's still Saints players wearing the shirts, still playing at St Mary's, still got the same manager etc etc. I won't buy one though, as I have an issue with chubby middle aged blokes wearing sports clothes for leisure, but that's one for a different thread, the kids will probably get theirs.

Surely we need to know what colour underpants (sorry 'kecks' now we are scousers) need to be worn with the red shorts, white or are they going for a cool black?

Oh and I see some are worried that the players might not like it.... we wake up you players - if you are shiedt next season and start blaming the kit, we will laugh at you like we did at Manure and their grey shirt excuse.... so dont go betting all 'pansy' on us.

Also its gret we have not revealed a 3rd kit as it will allow for a further thread or extension of this one.... but a long way to go efore it catches up with PTS... 'thread envy' is driving this I can tell.

Where does the assumption that this is a 'one off' kit, like the anniversary sash, come from?

Is it conceivable that our days in a striped kit are numbered?

I'm only asking these questions because I may have missed something.

Even if the red is staying, the kit is changing again in a year because the Umbro deal is ending and It's only ever been for one season anyway.
