Flyer Posted 29 June, 2012 Posted 29 June, 2012 Saints have just taken the worst kit in the PL title off QPR! Thats horrendous, reminds me of the old liverpool or forest kits. No identity at all. Plus youll need a 3rd kit as well.
yellow&blue Posted 29 June, 2012 Posted 29 June, 2012 Well at least the picture demonstrates that there's nothing wrong with Tadanari Lee's leg!
Badger Posted 29 June, 2012 Posted 29 June, 2012 Not bad as far as kit's go but that in no way represents Southampton FC. Bit of a shame really. It would have been ok with black shorts and white socks... Black shorts as a minimum to make it look like Saints.
corky morris Posted 29 June, 2012 Posted 29 June, 2012 Home kit is horrid....away kit is OK. Where did the red shorts come from?? No doubt I will buy it for the kids, but not at all impressed!!
alpine_saint Posted 29 June, 2012 Posted 29 June, 2012 Would say The9s credibility is intact, to be fair. What a let-down.
saints triumph Posted 29 June, 2012 Posted 29 June, 2012 Well I can join in with the COYR instead of my usual COYS
Nexstar Posted 29 June, 2012 Posted 29 June, 2012 Some very embarrassing reactions on here. I think they're pretty smart. That's it.
DJ_TOAST Posted 29 June, 2012 Posted 29 June, 2012 Not overly keen, bit boring and doesn't say 'Saints' to me. Should have had bigger red and white stripes in some format.
Saint_Ash Posted 29 June, 2012 Posted 29 June, 2012 Nice, I like it. It's red and white, how that can be disgusting I don't know, it's not brown and pink! Prefer the away kit.
The9 Posted 29 June, 2012 Posted 29 June, 2012 Phew. No egg face interaction. I really like the away kit and don't like the home kit. Nice to see all the other predictions coming true as well, though we haven't seen that model bird yet, and he's not very observant if she thinks the away isn't a reverse of the home! Alpine can retract his ridiculous knee-jerk attention -seeking blah blah.
Saint J 77 Posted 29 June, 2012 Posted 29 June, 2012 like it more now seen that.... Looks better in this shot for some reason.
CanadaSaint Posted 29 June, 2012 Posted 29 June, 2012 They've done it so that it'll be easier to read the names of all our new players.
The9 Posted 29 June, 2012 Posted 29 June, 2012 I see what they did there. It doesn't work. I actually called it somewhere around Page 4 of the thread as well...
CalneSaint Posted 29 June, 2012 Posted 29 June, 2012 could've been a whole lot worse.....think Cardiff!!!!!!!!

saintmatt Posted 29 June, 2012 Posted 29 June, 2012 Are we looking to steal some of Cardiff's Asian market? In all seriousness some of the bedwetting on here is laughable - it's a football kit ffs, get a grip! Like it or hate it, Saints live on. And we're Premier League.
Webby Posted 29 June, 2012 Posted 29 June, 2012 I see what they did there. It doesn't work. And what was that?
The9 Posted 29 June, 2012 Posted 29 June, 2012 Still interested to see if the red shirt has grey pinstripes because it certainly looked like it before...
Cheam Saint Posted 29 June, 2012 Posted 29 June, 2012 Saints have ALWAYS been red and white stripes, that is a disgrace ****ing awful! That's not actually true, but I agree with you it's ****e
nickfinks Posted 29 June, 2012 Posted 29 June, 2012 Bloody horrible, since when do we play in all red. Really not happy about this, what is wrong with RED & WHITE STRIPES FFS... rubbish rubbish rubbish... if i wanted a Liverpool kit i would support them
Mowgli Posted 29 June, 2012 Posted 29 June, 2012 It makes a lot of sense for sponsors logo and marketing in Asia. I like them. White more so but only just.
Thedelldays Posted 29 June, 2012 Posted 29 June, 2012 Looks better in this shot for some reason. Look forward to seeing it for real. will get mine in a few weeks
CWD Posted 29 June, 2012 Posted 29 June, 2012 As a shirt I absolutely love them both, they're smart, simple and classy, and as a pair they look bloody brilliant. I agree that it isn't "us", but I see what the club are going for with a new meaning to red and white army. The Lee/Rodriguez poster is quality!
St Marco Posted 29 June, 2012 Posted 29 June, 2012 In all honesty the home kit is pretty terrible and doesn't looklike a Saints shirt at all. We have gone from red and white to red with a little bit of white. It is a big change from our kits of the past and thus a bit of a step away from our normal identity. The whole red thing just looks a bit overkill. The pin stripes should of been a lot wider. The away kit looks okay though and I will probably buy that instead of the home kit.
beatlesaint Posted 29 June, 2012 Posted 29 June, 2012 Its strange that the marketing photo shows players stood side by side in alternate kits thus creating a red and white stripe look. Hey why didnt you go one better and have ONE shirt with red and white stripes to create the Southampton look ?
buctootim Posted 29 June, 2012 Posted 29 June, 2012 The kits alright. Photos are a bit Pet Shop Boys. Reactions are um....predictable.
Sour Mash Posted 29 June, 2012 Posted 29 June, 2012 For what it's worth I think its smart. What I don't get is what we'll wear away to Sunderland or Stoke?
Colinjb Posted 29 June, 2012 Posted 29 June, 2012 I actually called it somewhere around Page 4 of the thread as well... I meant more in the all red all white away/home combo. I was ready for the all red shirt, not the all red kit. That is not a Southampton kit. As items they are not bad... they just bare little semblence to the club I support.
CityRanger Posted 29 June, 2012 Posted 29 June, 2012 Looks like a standard pub team kit you'd get from a catalogue. Why change the shorts and sock colours? Controversial! I will boycott the Wigan game to show my displeasure.
Thedelldays Posted 29 June, 2012 Posted 29 June, 2012 people saying "its not a southampton kit" eeer, it is now
Junction 9 Posted 29 June, 2012 Posted 29 June, 2012 Our squad looks massive in that photo, have we learnt nothng these last few years?
jamesfp1 Posted 29 June, 2012 Posted 29 June, 2012 Are they going to post a proper picture of it at an acceptable resolution!? We've got one really dark one with ****ty effects, one from the chest up only, and a ****ty little low res thing with 100s of players. Great.
thefuriousb Posted 29 June, 2012 Posted 29 June, 2012 The thing I like least about the home shirt is, once again, the sponsors logo. It looks far better, yet again, on the away kit. I'd like to feel the quality of the shirt first, mind. Without repeating the same point I have already made, last season's away shirt was far and away better all round than the home 'red and white stripes' effort.

VectisSaint Posted 29 June, 2012 Posted 29 June, 2012 How about we use the away kit at home and the home kit away, and substitutite black shorts for the red, then it would be OK. Its really a bit of a shock to go from the white with red sash to this in 2 years. Hence why I prefer the away kit I think.
BlakeySFC Posted 29 June, 2012 Posted 29 June, 2012 I think Alpine et al. may have already slit their wrists at the look of the new kits. *Prepares for the 2-5 pages of moaning about the new kit* 'Won't be buying' will be said about 20-50 times I reckon.
Colinjb Posted 29 June, 2012 Posted 29 June, 2012 What I don't get is what we'll wear away to Sunderland or Stoke? An extremely good point.
doggface Posted 29 June, 2012 Posted 29 June, 2012 I think the promo will be "red and white army" with the players wearing home and away alternate to create a striped effect. AHHEMM..... i thank you, albeit very predictable
