The dominant home shirt colour for these 68 clubs

over the time period was determined and categorized

(using http://www.historicalkits.co.uk/index.htm).

These were: red (n ¼ 16), blue (23), all white (11),

and yellow-orange (9). Where a shirt was mainly one

colour plus some white, the team was categorized

under the colour. The few mixes of more than one

colour (e.g. red/blue) were placed in an ‘‘other’’

category, as were teams wearing shirts of a comparatively rare prime colour (e.g. green, black).

One day people will learn not to ask, but that thing about "more teams wearing red" isn't actually true to begin with. :D

I only said that it was more likely. What was the conclusion?

And nobody mentioned Arsenal.

Watching the Rep of Ireland/Eire game tonight, wondered if our kit is a red version similar to theirs ie contrasting red columns, with a pinstripe (in their case gold, in ours white).

Crap if it is.

The RoI kit is a 2011 template which is the same as design features in the 2011 Hearts away (pinstripes and "paving effect" in the stripes) , the 2011 Sunderland kit, (diagonal stripes on shoulders at the back), and Saints home kit 2011 (same paving effect in alternate stripes).

Out 2012 kit is based on the 2012/13 Sweden template, thin twin pinstripes, the front panel reaching over to a tape on the back of the shoulders. The "tape" is also visible on the back of of other 2012/13 shirts, some in contrast colours.

Shoulndt there be an apostrophe in barclay's?

Technically speaking, as the bank became known as Barclays due to the involvement of a Barclay in ownership, it should, but only because the bank itself should have an apostrophe in their name. As this happened in the 1700s and the bank has never used the apostrophe in branding, I think we can give them a pass.

It is the Premier League sponsored by Barclays not the Premier League owned by Barclay. If it was the latter there would be no grounds for doubt.

True. The best kit we've ever had:

I agree. Would love to see this kit back at some time. Mick Channon, Peter Osgood, Phil Boyer, Ted MacDougall, Steve Williams even etc.

The funny thing is that's Itchen_Dan's mockup that he posted on here about a week ago, it got banded around twitter a few days ago with people going 'this is the new kit, this is the new saints kit!!' etc. and now some kind fellow has posted it back in the exact same thread on the exact same forum it came from.

The circle of internet life.

I had assumed that to be the case. I love it when people come wading into page 15 with new info from page 4!

Anyway, as we've established since. The collar is wrong (it's plain red and probably the same as the Lille collar as that's the only plain v-neck unveiled so far - its like the 2011 Man City home collar too), the stripes are too wide, the actual kit has twin pinstripes not single ones, and the pinstripes are central to the shirt, ie there's no gap in the centre. Dan himself has done a more recent mock up on this thread.

I also wonder if one of the pinstripe pair might be light grey or if that's just a bad quality picture.

I heard that we have three shirts that are made up to choose, got a feeling that the club have let this one leak to throw us away from the real one.

Totally surprised they used a female model last week as its not our style.

The massive posters around the stadium will again be Lambert, Lallana & some others with a caption

'The Southampton Way' in a fancy logo wording.

It would be good if it had been a trick by the club to throw us off the scent but I'm not sure they would invest that much time in it just to trick the fans. It would be great if it did end up being something different from the pinstripe design that seems to have been chosen though.

I'd be amazed if they put that much effort into doing something that would gain them no money whatsoever. Then again, they p155ed thousands up the wall last year by not selling a shirt off the back of our promotion and are doing the same again this time, so who knows what the logic is.

officialsaints: #SaintsFC to unveil next season's strips at 9am on Saturday 30th June. Home kit goes on sale on 1st July, with away available on 14th July.

Saints will line up in stylish all new home and away strips this coming season.

Our footballing journey continues with a brand new look for the Red and White Army as we march back into the Premier League in the new designs from the 'Tailored by Umbro' range

The new kits will affirm the Club's status as a team playing amongst the elite of English football.

They are designed to the highest quality and finish, perfect for you to fill with passion and pride whilst showing your support for the team.

The exciting new strips will be revealed in the coming weeks, as Saints look to build on the feel-good factor generated from back-to-back promotions.

These highly anticipated kit designs will be unveiled first on saintsfc.co.uk from 9am on Saturday 30th June with the home strip due to hit the Saints stores a day later on Sunday 1st July.

What's more, Saints will be offering a limited number of lucky fans the chance to attend an exclusive launch event where they will be able to be amongst the first to get their hands on the new kit, details of which will be revealed in the coming weeks.

In a repeat of last season's successful launch, the all new away kit will go on sale on July 14th, the day of the Markus Liebherr Memorial Cup.

It is possible, but the kit I have seen did not come from a club source and ties in with what the female model tweeted.

Ok, there are now some proper dates : http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10280~2805126,00.html

Home AND away kit reveal on June 30th

Home kit on sale July 1st (shockingly in line with sources though strictly speaking the day Euro 2012 ends, not "after")

Away kit on sale July 14th for the Liebherr Cup.

Bonus point for Glasgow_Saint talking cobblers about the away kit there, and for Wade Garrett for, I THINK, the sarcasm about posting the Hearts kit/Patrick Rank Xerox kit thing which has already been referenced on this thread, immediately after my dig at people posting stuff from earlier on the thread.

With all due respect to MOGGIE, that kit is f**king hideous.

That's the spirit Alps. (tho in fairness all kits look the same on the radio)

I'm eagerly waiting your annual wailing thread about us not signing any CBs yet. It can't be long now can it?

Keep Smiling! :D

You've already missed it, a generic "we haven't signed anyone" pitched up in the middle of last week. Also, if he doesn't like that mock up, he's not going to like the actual kit, which looks about 75% like it. Add a slightly more straightforward collar, and some much thinner white stripes (in pairs), that's basically it.

I think it's pretty nice, but it's not really a Saints kit. Not sure what respect is due for taking a photoshop from this thread and reposting it from twitter a week later though.

The dual kit launch date says to me we've definitely got a red shirt and a white shirt, as they'll try and bury the lack of stripes by presenting the red and white shirts alternately to try and make it look like stripes overall.

I'm still not convinced they won't switch the shirts to go with the white for the home kit - I can see it selling loads more than the red.

The piece on the o/s only mentions 2 kits, i.e. no 3rd strip. Surely we can't just have a red shirt and a white shirt as our two kits as we wouldn't be allowed to wear either against Stoke, Sunderland, possibly Arsenal, etc.

If we are only having two kits then won't the away kit have to be one that no one else plays in at home, eg black?

No way we can have 2 kits and be the red/white reverse of each other. Good luck to the ref at Stoke and Sunderland in that case.

Maybe one if a third or training shirt. All these rumours, yet there's always training shirts produced that fool people. Pretty sure the away kit will be yellow.

F*ck the other teams. We are Southampton; we'll wear what we want.

Then thats me 150 quid up, and the club 150 quid down then., because that kit is f**king awful; it looks like a Forest or Liverpool retro kit.

The model who accurately described the home kit having worn it for the photoshoot is pretty sure it's "white with details".

We've already had this discussion, I'd just assumed we'd use the current yellow as a third where needed, but the club decided to reduce it by 50%.

Also, the Premier League has rules preventing teams wearing kits for fewer than 6 matches (or is it 4, I'll have to remind myself) except with the approval of the League, so we'd have to have a pretty good excuse for only wearing it twice...

To me this reads as a hint at what we've already guessed i.e. one main colour for the shirt. I can imagine the tag line "Red and White Army" being used for the advertising campaign and envisage our players standing next to each other in alternative home and away shirts (red and white) giving an impression, as already suggested, of red and white stripes. But then again I once thought the pitch pattern was a hint so what do I know.

I like the concept but would be disappointed with a predominately one colour shirt.

I'm sure there is a logical, (sales or design) related reason for them not doing it but I wish they would just go for an old fans favourite (candy stripes or Air Florida type). Having said that, it would have to be really bad to stop me purchasing it :)

Does anyone know when it will be unveliled and released? Will be nice not to wait too long like we have the last 2 seasons so I can wear it on my hols.

July 1

G'day sir. Is that a dual unveil and 'available for purchase' date or will it be unveiled in advance of it being available to buy? Cheers :-)

Not sure, sorry.

Been told that the launch is July 1.

This season it was released one day and available to buy the next, so wouls assume the same this?

Where do I pick up my prize?
