Matt Jarvis

According to Fourth Official on twitter, who is usually very reliable, we have made an enquiry for Matt Jarvis. Very promising!

So we're getting excited about a rumour about a player from a useless team that got relegated? FFS we want to be Man City not effing Wolves

Matt Jarvis is originally from the Guildford area and I heard yesterday that he has bought or built a house in the Cobham area, just off the A3. Apparently he is definitely moving but his agent is playing it very coy about who he is going to.

He has had the house in Cobham for a while.

His agent has told Wolves he's leaving and he is going to a top flight club. That's all WWFC know at the moment.

Apparently those who have relegation clauses in their contracts have them balanced by release clauses.

WWFC want to loan players out in a similar way B'ham loaned out Foster in the hope they go straight back up.

Its a fair comment that Saints don't want to create a poor team by picking up average players whose Premier League experience amounts to a season or two with a relegated club; but that's not the picture with Matt Jarvis who has a pedigree going back to Wolves promotion in 2008/09 and has had an England call-up. If Jarvis can play on the right wing he could be the replacement for AOC that no one else in the squad has managed to be. Even if we don't get Jarvis, it would be encouraging to know that Adkins is looking to sign a quality right winger.

Yes, every player that has ever played for a relegated team is useless, isn't he? Every single one.

My Wolves supporting work mate thinks they are talking of holding out for 10 million.... which i reckon (hope at that price) would rule us out.

Most of their players have a pay cut clause, wasn't so sure about escape clause as well.

Us or Chelsea then?

TBF there is also a club less than an hour down the A3 from Cobham who are on the lookout for some players !

Jarvis is probably in their wage bracket but alas he may want parity with Tal Ben Haim which could prove a stumbling block :):)

I did think that ;)

They train out near Heathrow I think. Was just joking anyway.

I am sure QPR will want to spend big but think they will probably stick with the policy of 'Big Name' signings, not sure Jarvis would fit into that category.

I'd of thought Jarvis might still be classified as a big name signing for QPR. He was close to England recognition last year.

He played in a friendly. Came on for about half an hour or so. The opponents escape my memory right now though

Just reading the SKY Sports app, there's an article about Stoke possibly moving for Michael Owen....

At the tail-end of the article, there's a small bit about Jarvis:

"Coates and Pulis, meanwhile, have also been told they will have to part with around £10m to land winger Matt Jarvis from relegated Wolverhampton Wanderers."

If we can get Jarvis for around £6-7m and Hooper for a similar amount our attack will definitely look a lot more potent and there would be enough goals in the team to stay up for sure

Then we would just need to sign another centre back and full back, a reserve keeper and job done! (plus another centre mid)

So more or less a new team except Lambert and Lallana? ;)

Well that won't be true will it? Not least because hosting a uninteresting friendly at St Marys is of no benefit to Wolves.

I thought this, but Wolves fan told me this who is ITK there they heard we offered ex amount believed to be 5 mill they wanted 6 we said were pay the extra if you give us a game in pre season, money wont be announced tho as again rumour is it will be the good old undisclosed figure, only passing on info, i dont claim to know this as fact, but hes normally spot on with wolves crap.

Interesting theory, and would be great if true, but I can't see it myself.

Writing off 1 million for a friendly away from home? It's either nonsense or utterly moronic.

No it says that we will pay 6m only if they give us a friendly in return for the extra 1m. I had to re read it as well!

That's even more moronic, why would we pay £1m for the privilege of playing a friendly against Wolves?

Would make sense if it was maybe £50K - £100K, but not at £1m - we may as well just write them a cheque.

The prices being banded about for him are moronic, to use the word of the day. £10 million and I dare say about £8 million of it is just because he's had a single England cap. Sorry but this guy is being far too highly rated - though I must admit that I do wonder what he can do in a team better than the load of ****e he has around him at Wolves.

But £10 million to see what he's like at a different team? No chance. Someone earlier mentioned £9 million for Cisse, and Newcastle's recruitment model is not a bad one at all. If it means paying way over the odds for even a hint of English potential then I'd rather be signing players from the Eredivise or Ligue 1.

He was very much part of both Wolves' success and failure. When things were going well for him he was beating players and getting brilliant crosses in from the byline and causing problems for opponents. That's why he got his cap and deservedly so. However, last season he was off the boil, creating little and was dropped. He eventually found some form and started to do the things that attracted admirers, but this was too late for Wolves. He must share some of the blame for their relegation.

Personally I think he'd be great for us. Busy, pacey, direct and genuine competition for Adam. No chance we'll spend £10m though so doubtful we'll get him. I suspect every lower and mid level Prem side will have a dip.

this £10m talk is a load of guff

remember when we went down and lowe was full of it saying we had no reason to sell what so ever.......!!!!

of course wolves need to sell, and not just jarvis i suspect. he will go bit not for £10m...more like £4m up front with another couple of million in add ons for the other teams success, his appearances, england call ups etc...meaning a deal up to around £7m

Wrong, Wolves don't need to sell as very player has huge relegation clauses in their contracts and are taking huge pay cuts from this month.

Wolves don't want to sell Jarvis but the player wants to leave and has a clause in his contract allowing it.
