Charlie Wayman Posted 16 May, 2012 Share Posted 16 May, 2012 According to Fourth Official on twitter, who is usually very reliable, we have made an enquiry for Matt Jarvis. Very promising! So we're getting excited about a rumour about a player from a useless team that got relegated? vince Posted 16 May, 2012 Share Posted 16 May, 2012 Matt Jarvis is originally from the Guildford area and I heard yesterday that he has bought or built a house in the Cobham area, just off the A3. Apparently he is definitely moving but his agent is playing it very coy about who he is going to. He has had the house in Cobham for a while. View From The Top Posted 18 May, 2012 Share Posted 18 May, 2012 His agent has told Wolves he's leaving and he is going to a top flight club. That's all WWFC know at the moment. Apparently those who have relegation clauses in their contracts have them balanced by release clauses. WWFC want to loan players out in a similar way B'ham loaned out Foster in the hope they go straight back up.
Professor Posted 18 May, 2012 Share Posted 18 May, 2012 So we're getting excited about a rumour about a player from a useless team that got relegated? FFS we want to be Man City not effing Wolves Its a fair comment that Saints don't want to create a poor team by picking up average players whose Premier League experience amounts to a season or two with a relegated club; but that's not the picture with Matt Jarvis who has a pedigree going back to Wolves promotion in 2008/09 and has had an England call-up. If Jarvis can play on the right wing he could be the replacement for AOC that no one else in the squad has managed to be. Even if we don't get Jarvis, it would be encouraging to know that Adkins is looking to sign a quality right winger.

My Wolves supporting work mate thinks they are talking of holding out for 10 million.... which i reckon (hope at that price) would rule us out. rooney Posted 21 May, 2012 Share Posted 21 May, 2012 I think Jarvis would be ideal for us but not at £10m. We need a pacey winger and he would be ideal for us and we must be in with a chance.
London Saint Posted 21 May, 2012 Share Posted 21 May, 2012 If we can get Jarvis for around £6-7m and Hooper for a similar amount our attack will definitely look a lot more potent and there would be enough goals in the team to stay up for sure Then we would just need to sign another centre back and full back, a reserve keeper and job done! Beachcombers Windowsill Posted 21 May, 2012 Share Posted 21 May, 2012 Cisse was a massive exception by today's standards though. Pardew did some unbelievable business there. That's even more moronic, why would we pay £1m for the privilege of playing a friendly against Wolves? Would make sense if it was maybe £50K - £100K, but not at £1m - we may as well just write them a cheque.
Gorgiesaint Posted 10 June, 2012 Share Posted 10 June, 2012 Perhaps the fee is based on the outcome of the game - we beat them & it's £5m - they beat us it's £6m. Maybe.... Maybe not!
Crazy Diamond Posted 10 June, 2012 Share Posted 10 June, 2012 The prices being banded about for him are moronic, to use the word of the day. £10 million and I dare say about £8 million of it is just because he's had a single England cap. Sorry but this guy is being far too highly rated - though I must admit that I do wonder what he can do in a team better than the load of ****e he has around him at Wolves. But £10 million to see what he's like at a different team? No chance. Someone earlier mentioned £9 million for Cisse, and Newcastle's recruitment model is not a bad one at all. If it means paying way over the odds for even a hint of English potential then I'd rather be signing players from the Eredivise or Ligue 1. He was very much part of both Wolves' success and failure. When things were going well for him he was beating players and getting brilliant crosses in from the byline and causing problems for opponents. That's why he got his cap and deservedly so. However, last season he was off the boil, creating little and was dropped. He eventually found some form and started to do the things that attracted admirers, but this was too late for Wolves. He must share some of the blame for their relegation. Personally I think he'd be great for us. Busy, pacey, direct and genuine competition for Adam. No chance we'll spend £10m though so doubtful we'll get him. I suspect every lower and mid level Prem side will have a dip.
