Viking Warrior Posted 30 April, 2012 Posted 30 April, 2012 It was being bandied around in the guide dog that we may well be getting a new high prestige sponsor next season any truth in that or was someone winding me up in my drunken state
sfc1971 Posted 30 April, 2012 Posted 30 April, 2012 why on earth would we...just got this one I think it`s quite poss that we may have a Stadium sponsor next season.
Viking Warrior Posted 30 April, 2012 Author Posted 30 April, 2012 Delldays Thats what I thought . must have been the real ale talking
BadgerBadger Posted 30 April, 2012 Posted 30 April, 2012 why on earth would we...just got this one pays more money?
Thedelldays Posted 30 April, 2012 Posted 30 April, 2012 pays more money? do you not think that promotion to the premier league would have been factored in to the deal we have...hence why we waited for a season before getting this one don't think you can just ditch a sponsor
SNOWY Posted 30 April, 2012 Posted 30 April, 2012 I thought that we had 3 year deal with app3 or whatever they are called. I like the current sponsor as you hardly notice it on the shirt.
skintsaint Posted 30 April, 2012 Posted 30 April, 2012 Can't see NC missing an opportunity to increase revenue and get a stadium sponsor.
BadgerBadger Posted 30 April, 2012 Posted 30 April, 2012 do you not think that promotion to the premier league would have been factored in to the deal we have...hence why we waited for a season before getting this one don't think you can just ditch a sponsor I agree, just throwing it out there as the only reason we'd get another sponsor - plus I expect we have some sort of tie in with aap above and beyond just cash
doddisalegend Posted 30 April, 2012 Posted 30 April, 2012 Can't see NC missing an opportunity to increase revenue and get a stadium sponsor. Oh I hope not I'd hate St Mary's to be called something s hit like the "King power stadium" or the "Sports Direct Arena"....
Romsaint Posted 30 April, 2012 Posted 30 April, 2012 Can't see NC missing an opportunity to increase revenue and get a stadium sponsor. Spoke to someone yesterday who says that aap3 have 2 years to run and the deal was based on which league we are in and now that we are in the Premier the cost of sponsorship has increased dramatically.
stev2001 Posted 30 April, 2012 Posted 30 April, 2012 do you not think that promotion to the premier league would have been factored in to the deal we have...hence why we waited for a season before getting this one don't think you can just ditch a sponsor I'm sure NC had everything factored in, whether it was a higher rate for our current sponsor or a new sponsor if we gained PL status.
stev2001 Posted 30 April, 2012 Posted 30 April, 2012 Can't see NC missing an opportunity to increase revenue and get a stadium sponsor. Maybe Etihad. £400M is the going rate for them
latter day saint Posted 30 April, 2012 Posted 30 April, 2012 Bird's Eye Patato Waffles Stadium i hope they spell it correctly though
stev2001 Posted 30 April, 2012 Posted 30 April, 2012 i hope they spell it correctly though I thought it was better as it was
Wes Tender Posted 30 April, 2012 Posted 30 April, 2012 I heard that Jobsite are looking for another football club to sponsor. As their image has taken a bad knock because of their association with the DFCBs they need to be associated with a club with a good public image. It has done irreparable damage being associated with a club that has been owned by gun-runners, Russian mafia money-launderers, fake-sheiks, Hong Kong loan-sharks, etc.; people who are not averse to cheating the taxman and robbing local charities and screwing small businesses. Now they need to redress the balance by sponsoring a club renowned for its family friendly image, the honesty and integrity of its current owners. Why, even the club's nickname "The Saints" has the right sub-conscious connections for a business wishing to clean up its image after association with the cesspit that is Pompey.
SO16_Saint Posted 30 April, 2012 Posted 30 April, 2012 It was being bandied around in the guide dog that we may well be getting a new high prestige sponsor next season any truth in that or was someone winding me up in my drunken state no truth in rumour. aap3 for 3 years All About Promotion
mancsaint Posted 30 April, 2012 Posted 30 April, 2012 The deal was for 3 years, and I was surprised how little it was when I heard, something like 300k for League 1 going up to 600k for the Prem. With all the hype before it was announced I thought it would be millions. Mancsaint
Rebel Posted 30 April, 2012 Posted 30 April, 2012 I don't think aap3 budgeted for promotion - I expect they'd be happy to be replaced and drop to a second tier sponsor - maybe of the academy or something like that
Legod Third Coming Posted 30 April, 2012 Posted 30 April, 2012 The deal was for 3 years, and I was surprised how little it was when I heard, something like 300k for League 1 going up to 600k for the Prem. southamptonfclegend Posted 30 April, 2012 Posted 30 April, 2012 isn't Umbro deal out of contract now?
stevegrant Posted 30 April, 2012 Posted 30 April, 2012 The aap3 deal was for 3 years and was agreed at various levels depending on the division we're in. If we'd not been promoted last season, it would have been around £200k in League One, it was around £500k in the Championship this season and will be around £1m in the Premier League next season.
capitalsaint Posted 30 April, 2012 Posted 30 April, 2012 Cue the Virgin St Mary's jokes. Eh guys? Funny eh?
shirleysfc Posted 30 April, 2012 Posted 30 April, 2012 I've heard the same rumour. Wouldn't be at all surprised if we have a new sponsor next season.
SO16_Saint Posted 30 April, 2012 Posted 30 April, 2012 I've heard the same rumour. Wouldn't be at all surprised if we have a new sponsor next season. I would
VectisSaint Posted 30 April, 2012 Posted 30 April, 2012 Not sure its a rumour, I seem to recall Cortese said some time ago that we had a major sponsor lined up when we got to the PL, but maybe it happened a little sooner than he expected. I suspect that someone with some time on their hands could dig up a thread that contains this.
paulwantsapint Posted 30 April, 2012 Posted 30 April, 2012 Could we be about to get MALI or LIEBHERR as sponsors They would be the best sponsors EVER
The9 Posted 30 April, 2012 Posted 30 April, 2012 Last time I checked contracts were legally binding. we already have shirt manufacturers for another year, shirt sponsors for another 2 years, and no current stadium naming rights. I don't doubt that we'll get HUNDREDS of new sponsors next season, but they'll all be around the pitch, on the big screens, in the corporate boxes, etc.
egg Posted 30 April, 2012 Posted 30 April, 2012 Oh I hope not I'd hate St Mary's to be called something s hit like the "King power stadium" or the "Sports Direct Arena".... But would anyone object to "the liebherr stadium"?
Noodles34 Posted 30 April, 2012 Posted 30 April, 2012 anyone know what our sponser actually does? (business?)
Noodles34 Posted 30 April, 2012 Posted 30 April, 2012 But would anyone object to "the liebherr stadium"? yes, in principle, football clubs are football clubs, they will always be around longer than anyone else (cept that lot down the road hopefully), and the name of where they play should reflect the fact that no one person (or corporate company) is bigger than the club (no matter what they might have done to help)
The9 Posted 30 April, 2012 Posted 30 April, 2012 anyone know what our sponser actually does? (business?) Yes. http://www.aap3.com/2011/07/04/today-aap3-start-their-three-year-association-with-southampton-fc-as-the-main-club-sponsor/
SO16_Saint Posted 30 April, 2012 Posted 30 April, 2012 anyone know what our sponser actually does? (business?) IT services and solutions company based in Chilworth Science Park. Also do Recruitment.

For a company of their size thats got to be most if their marketing budget gone for next year! Plus I can't really see a return on thevinvestment given their business
Thedelldays Posted 30 April, 2012 Posted 30 April, 2012 For a company of their size thats got to be most if their marketing budget gone for next year! Plus I can't really see a return on thevinvestment given their business serious question how the feck do you know..?

Plus I can't really see a return on thevinvestment given their business £1M for your company to be seen by 650M people for 40 weeks of the year isn't bad to be honest. Cheapest sponsorship in PL history id have thought.
Saint_clark Posted 30 April, 2012 Posted 30 April, 2012 Oh I hope not I'd hate St Mary's to be called something s hit like the "King power stadium" or the "Sports Direct Arena".... It was called "The Friends Provident St Marys Stadium" before, what's the difference? Everyone will still call it St Marys except commentators at the start of live matches/highlights.

SO16_Saint Posted 30 April, 2012 Posted 30 April, 2012 Is there a get out clause if some major brand offers mega-bucks? Don't know any specifics or secrets but don't think so. From what I do know, its sealed for the term of the contract

I think acorns may have got on Villa's shirts for significantly less a few seasons ago. Clubs don't tend to charge children's hospices much. http://www.acorns.org.uk/aston-villa-acorns-in-partnership
SO16_Saint Posted 30 April, 2012 Posted 30 April, 2012 I think acorns may have got on Villa's shirts for significantly less a few seasons ago. Ok ill give you that one Other than a charity then!!

For a newly-promoted side, I suspect £1m a year is actually quite a good deal for us. Pretty sure our deals with Sanderson and Friends Provident years ago weren't anywhere near seven figures.
