Are we of to Japan

You just beat me to it. Was going to start a thread on pre-season. In Adkins interview after the game, he suggested that pre-season was all "boxed off", I took that as pretty much confirmed where/when they're going. In the promotion for registering with the new ticketing website it said that there was a prixe of a fully paid trip to our pre-season, which *suggests* possibly somewhere more exotic than Switzerland.

Would be good if the club gave us the heads up nice early in case anyone fancies it.

Japan would be something I would seriously have to consider if we were to go there.

Could well be an expensive summers with the Euro's as well.

I'll show you round, make sure you are dressed appropriately etc.

Could be difficult to get you into games though. I heard that there was a Japanese doppelganger of you outside of the grounds to stop people like you getting in. Apparently they know who you are as your in all of their pictures.

Am sure he can find a bum chum with a shared love for mollissey.

I'm only going over there so I can act like the classic Brit abroad and see how they like it when people act as they please and refuse to follow local customs.

I'm going to get properly hammered, make obscene gestures, moan relentlessly about how terrible the food is and that the beer tastes like p*ss, I'll make sure I'm inappropriately dressed and then start a fight with the local police. All done whilst singing 'my Grandad killed your grandad doo dah doo dah'.

And that's just on the flight out there. I would be tempted by this to be fair. Knowing Saints we'll keep all the details a secret anyway.

Don't let Turkish see you, he'll start a thread moaning about it.

Yeah that looks to be the case, don't know why they play over the summer. Doesn't make it too appealing for them to play English pre-season games, can't think of too many teams that have played over there.

True, but its still a relatively new league and I guess they are always looking to build its profile. A match againt a European side with a Japanses player could work in a week when they dont have match.

They play in the spring/summer in the evenings. It is not unusual for far bigger teams than us to come and play a few pre-season games over there, in fact I think R Madrid and Man Utd go there every year. These games are often televised and the standard is pretty good (the J league players are mid season, raise their game) and often a close match.

It wouldn't be too difficult to schedule in a few matches with us as well. However, even with Chun, I doubt we will attract huge attention. The training facilities will no doubt be first class though and its a good way of getting our 'brand' out there. Also, I expect the players will enjoy it.

Actually reminds me that it was good to see Lee celebrating with the team on Saturday. I thought he had gone back to Japan to recuperate so don't know if he flew in specially?

In the programme a few weeks back he was interviewed and said that he was staying in the UK to get treated by the medical team here.

Just like Robbie Savage said the other night at the Leicester WHU game, if you get and injury now you will be kissing goodbye to your holidays as if it's serious enough you will be spending the next few weeks on the treatment table.

Hopefully they will announce it a bit earlier this year. Cant see many going over, 10/15 tops.

With rumours we might be playing Arsenal some time ago, maybe us and Arsenal in a tournament over there?

Lots of pluses if you ask me.

To name one. Following promotion interest will be higher than EVER before, especially for us back here at home. SaintsPlayer subscriptions will go through the roof. Kerching.

That additional income is part of the blue-print, I'd see the trip as an investment.

That's not to even mention the love that the Japanese will have for us.

I'm in the YES camp.

NB,

did I ever tell you about the time I tried to complain in a japanese restaurant that the Sushi was rubbery? Absolute waste of time....

I think it'd be a great place to go for pre-season, but we really aren't going to make much money out of it.

It is good to cultivtate the Asian countries which have strong growth and the Club can benefit from merchandising. Fulham used to get quite a number of Japanese supporters when they had 2 players in the squad, when we were last in the Premiership. I would expect to see some more at SMS next season.

Seriously? How much money would you expect Saints to make from cultivating the Asian countries?

I'm sure I did something the other week, where one 'selected person' gets to fly out with the team to pre-season training or something.

I can remember doing it, but not what it was I did. :?

You updated your details on the clubs new online ticketing system?

That's been bugging me ever since it was originally posted. I normally refuse to posts on threads where there are spelling mistakes in the title but as this was a subject close to my heart, I just couldn't resist.

The whole thread was actually part of an elaborate game on a Japanese game-show. It was set up by wireframe and myself just to temp you into replying. You failed at the first stage and therefore did not win a new Honda - hard luck.

I'd have rather been a contestant on Takeshi's Castle.

I'd have rather been a contestant on Takeshi's Castle.

The order is:

Fancy dress test.

Singing the right songs at the correct speed test.

Wearing the right clothes test.

Don't get tempted by threads with bad spelling.

Pass all of them and you get a Honda and enter the Takeshi's castle qualifiers.

So close but no cigar! You were doing so well up until the temptation one!

Better luck next year.
