They still don't get it

Yesterday, according to ex skate Gary O'Neill,West Ham could have scored loads more goals against Hull but they eased off once they saw that we were winning so easily. There was little point in them scoring more against Hull.

Yeah Gary. I am sure that you could have scored loads more goals if you could be simply bothered. West Ham are clerly such a great team that they can do whatever they want againt the dross of the Championship.

West Ham have clearly not yet learnt the lesson that all relegated teams must learn - they have not yet learnt to respect the division that they are in. They were relegated last year because they were simply not good enough. Until they appreciate this and start to show some respect to their rivals, they will not go up.

Why am I so sure that this is the case? Because it took me 3 years to respect the Championship. We were relegated from the Prem due to bad luck / a couple of fluky decisions etc etc. We were bound to go up at the first time of asking as we were a big club. We had been in a Cup Final 2 years befiore. We must be better than every other team in the division.

I probably saw the light during our third Championship season and our final day win v Sheff United. From then onwards I respected the division that we were in. I respected the opposition more. I appreciated their football and their better players. My belief is that you only achieve promotion once you appreciate where you are and respect the division you are in. Until West Ham do this they will not go up.

I've spoken to a West Ham supporter who was there yesterday - he said as soon as it became clear we weren't going to lose, they took off Cole and Vaz Te to protect them and played out the rest of the game like a practice match. I don't think it was arrogance - although they have had a lot of that this season - it was a sensible move to make sure their players are fit for the play-offs. Just because a so called skate (get over it) made the comment doesn't mean it's not true.

I think there should be a rule introduced that if the side in third place is 10 points clear of the one in fourth then they should go up as they are clearly so much better than the rest. There have only been three teams in it this year and for one to miss out now is cruel.

Who cares what the deluded O'Neill thinks. West Ham have to go up because of their huge debts - it will be interesting if they screw up the the play offs. I also think they would have gone up automatically if they had almost any other manager than fat Sham

It would be cruel, if it was another club. But it's West Ham, which would make it funny as f*ck!

There were a couple of Londoners growing up on our estate from a family of Hammers fans. I used to have a lot of time for West Ham, especially when the likes of Tony Cottee and Frank McAvennie were playing, but the current incarnation leaves a lot to be desired.

The style of football is not great. Also, the calculated way that Gold et al got involved when it became apparent that West Ham stood a great chance of getting the Olympic Stadium makes the current owners seem a bit mercenary. If I were in their position, I'd be booting Big Sam now and getting a new broom in for the playoffs.

Di Canio will be in there before the start of next season, regardless of what happens.
