Wiggles31 Posted 29 April, 2012 Posted 29 April, 2012 Who do you want? Norwich at home for me. To get off to a good start is vital as we learnt this season.
Red and White Army Posted 29 April, 2012 Posted 29 April, 2012 Home to Man Utd. Promoted teams often have a good start (carry forward the momentum from promotion) and what better way to announce ourselves in the Premier League by beating the best team over the past two decades? It will also give the players confidence they can live with (and hopefully beat) anyone.
fez Posted 29 April, 2012 Posted 29 April, 2012 Sunderland or Newcastle at home. What is the starting date of the Prem season? Need to make plans...
SNSUN Posted 29 April, 2012 Posted 29 April, 2012 Start well, keep the confidence up. Blackpool away please. :-D (Yes this was a dig at West Ham...)
Lighthouse Posted 29 April, 2012 Posted 29 April, 2012 Everton at home. They don't seem to get back off their holidays until November most seasons. Failing that, Villa are prone to the odd stinker of an opening game. Would be a great early relief if we could start with a decent win against someone, then get a couple of the tough away trips out the way early on. Everton (h) Villa (a) Man Utd (a) Chelsea (h) Would be a decent opening 4 fixtures for me. A good mix of winnable games and tough fixtures out the way.
The9 Posted 29 April, 2012 Posted 29 April, 2012 Home to Man Utd. Promoted teams often have a good start (carry forward the momentum from promotion) and what better way to announce ourselves in the Premier League by beating the best team over the past two decades? It will also give the players confidence they can live with (and hopefully beat) anyone. Swansea were away to Man City this season... lost 4-0. QPR home to Bolton, lost 4-0. Norwich away to Wigan, drew 1-1. Think I'd prefer us to get used to the level than get dropped into some games we're not ready for, no matter how good our preparations are.
RobM Posted 29 April, 2012 Posted 29 April, 2012 Liverpool at home, please. Would be an awesome introduction to the Premier League for Adkins and Lambert, plus a big name team to challenge us from the off.
Saintjersey Posted 29 April, 2012 Posted 29 April, 2012 Reading at home. Saints to win 3-1 would be a good start to the Premier League life.
fez Posted 29 April, 2012 Posted 29 April, 2012 Sunderland or Newcastle at home. What is the starting date of the Prem season? Need to make plans... to answer my own question: weekend of Aug 18/19
Ohio Saint Posted 29 April, 2012 Posted 29 April, 2012 Manure. Start big, plus we won't be playing them for the last game.
Ziggy Posted 29 April, 2012 Posted 29 April, 2012 Away as I'll be in Tenerife. On telly as well. That would be good.
Rusaldo Posted 29 April, 2012 Posted 29 April, 2012 Villa (a) Bolton (h) Spurs (a) Everton (h) Would be a good first month of the season.
saints_is_the_south Posted 29 April, 2012 Posted 29 April, 2012 Everton are terrible starters, so they'd be good to have in the first month or so. Swansea or Norwich at home first day.
Ohio Saint Posted 29 April, 2012 Posted 29 April, 2012 Everton are terrible starters, My lawn mower must be a big Toffees fan.
Hatch Posted 29 April, 2012 Posted 29 April, 2012 I would love to see this . Manchester United v Southampton Crawley Town v Portsmouth
paulwantsapint Posted 29 April, 2012 Posted 29 April, 2012 Everyone at home then Liverpool away massive confidence boost for rickie to score a couple of winners against scousers not to mention fox getting a couple of clean sheets or Adkins telling the benches to calm down calm down don't get too high after these wins
Thedelldays Posted 30 April, 2012 Posted 30 April, 2012 imagine spurs......imagine the bile redknapp will get
Verbal Kint Posted 30 April, 2012 Posted 30 April, 2012 imagine spurs......imagine the bile redknapp will get It will be great to 'welcome' him back after all these years...
Golden Balls Posted 30 April, 2012 Posted 30 April, 2012 Everton, Wigan or Villa. They seem to start baddly and we need to get the first win asap.
mikec Posted 30 April, 2012 Posted 30 April, 2012 Last 2 times we were promoted to the top league, our first home game was against a fellow-promoted side. Man City in '66 and Bolton in '78. I'll say home to Blackpool!
iansums Posted 30 April, 2012 Posted 30 April, 2012 Away as I'll be in Tenerife. On telly as well. That would be good. Agreed, I'll be in the Algarve but back in time for the game the following weekend.
VectisSaint Posted 30 April, 2012 Posted 30 April, 2012 Wigan @ home. This. And if we could get the away game in before Xmas as well, before they realise they have to win some games at the end of the season.
VectisSaint Posted 30 April, 2012 Posted 30 April, 2012 I would love to see this . Manchester United v Southampton Crawley Town v Portsmouth Why will Crawley be demoted? What chance now that we can stop caring about Portsmouth. We are Southampton, we're Premier League. Frankly Reading will be our bigger rivals now, Skates are irrelevant.
Sour Mash Posted 30 April, 2012 Posted 30 April, 2012 Wigan away on MNF. Your only hope of winning our bet.
