Jack Cork - ever present

According to the BBC commentary yesterday, he's our only player to feature in every championship match day squad.

A great achievement for him.

A superb young player with his best yet to come IMO. Made an instant impact when he came on yesterday.

Only shame is that he didn't get on the scoresheet but underlines how much this year's success was down to team ethics.

Cork is another player whom I expect to excel in the premier league.

Personally I think Hammond's injury yesterday was a blessing in disguise because we appeared to have a much better balance and shape when Corky came on. I remember going to Barnsley away in the second week of the season and being really impressed with him. One of those players whose simplicity and smooth distribution often goes un-noticed when in the team but is sorely missed when he isn't - kind of like Matt Oakley in his heyday with us.

For me he is an unsung hero (quite literally, why doesn't he have his own song?)

Hopefully he will develop, he is clearly an excellent player, but he will have to add goals to his armoury. You can't afford an attacking MF player who does not score. It would be like having Anders Svensson in the team again :-)

The difference between him and Hammond is how they kick the ball. Watch them. Cork is like Lallana - he uses the 'toe' of his boat, carresses the ball - it's lovely to watch. No pass isn't thought about. They don't always go where he intends, but he does have intent and wants the ball. Could be a good player for us.

Think you answered your own question there.

A great record to be in every match - he is perhaps too inconsistent and needs to start scoring goals. Surely we need at least 5 or 6 goals from a midfield player like him? But well done to him for his contribution this season.

Depends whether he's tasked to score goals though. Top scorers in the league - 49 goals at home (shame we couldn't get 50). Maybe he's dragging defenders out of shape or playing deeper in case teams break? I'm sure if it was his job to score he would have a few.

I agree with you that goalscoring isn't the role he is asked to fulfill, but it's not as though he hasn't had chances. With a little more shooting practice on the training ground then he could easily have got 5-6 goals this season. Same goes for Schneiderlin.

Nah - that's a bit like saying Lallana could work on his tackling. If you've got a job to do, do it well. This club has a history (very recent) of employing 'utility' players. I'd rather he looked up and slipped in someone who knows how to finish. ;)
