saintmatt Posted 29 April, 2012 Share Posted 29 April, 2012 For me: - Leeds home, set the tone for the season - Millwall away, comeback that spurred us on for the final weeks - Hull away, when I really started to believe (this probably wouldn't have made the list had other results not gone so well that day, mind!) RobM Posted 29 April, 2012 Share Posted 29 April, 2012 Leeds home - the first moment where suddenly, success in the NPC seemed a very real prospect. Middlesborough away - a big game we should have won and didn't, which IMO sticks out as a big and very important game. Coventry home - We needed to get promoted on merit. We we're on TV to the world. We turned up and showed the world how much we deserve promotion! For any neutrals who had watched us on TV in our other games, they may have been doubtful of our credentials... until yesterday. egg Posted 29 April, 2012 Share Posted 29 April, 2012 Leeds home and away. Home set the tone and away showed that we can fight and that even good teams need a slice of luck. Coventry home. We did what we had to and delivered the big prize in front of a record crowd and a TV audience.

Whitey Grandad Posted 29 April, 2012 Share Posted 29 April, 2012 West Ham home. Good solid win over the pre-season favourites. West Ham v Reading was also significant. A draw there would probably have seen us champions. Skates home was also a setback.
jawillwill Posted 29 April, 2012 Share Posted 29 April, 2012 4-1 win over Torquay (our first win under the lights this season. Nice goal for Forte to start his account for the season). 2-1 loss to Crystal Palace (we could have gone on to play the mighty Man Yoo if we had won) 2-1 away to Coventry (showing the FA cup still has a bit of magic!) sotonjoe Posted 29 April, 2012 Share Posted 29 April, 2012 Losing to Reading was massive and things could have been very different if we'd won that one.
beatlesaint Posted 29 April, 2012 Share Posted 29 April, 2012 West Ham Home West Ham Away Peterborough Away Without the first two we would be "looking forward" to the play offs - simple as that. The third because of the way the players bounced back after the Reading game which ultimately was very important cos it was also the night West Ham failed to win at Bristol City. Sheaf Saint Posted 29 April, 2012 Share Posted 29 April, 2012 Leeds away - under the cosh for the full 90 minutes and mugged them with a smash and grab goal of the highest quality, followed by one of the finest goalkeeping performances ever witnessed to hold on to it. Millwall away - honestly thought we had lost so went and made a cup of coffee, only to come back to my computer and find we had turned it around. Definitely our MK Dons moment and had me convinced that not only did we have the quality, the confidence and the ability to get promoted, but we had the slice of luck needed sometimes when things aren't going your way. Was convinced we would win the title after this game. Blackpool away - following a spectacular run of form, all of a sudden it didn't look quite so nailed-on as it had done prior to this game. All expectation on us and we choked badly like rabbits in headlights, and all of a sudden I went from being convinced we would win the league to being fearful that we might not even make second, leading to a very nervy last few games. Sheaf Saint Posted 29 April, 2012 Share Posted 29 April, 2012 Oh and regarding the Millwall game, it makes me chuckle that the ungracious knobs on KUMB still reckon we were gifted the game by the referee with the two penalties. I've watched them over and over again and I find myself imagining how furious I would have been if they hadn't been given, they were both so blatant.
