This Charming Man Posted 1 May, 2012 Share Posted 1 May, 2012 Carroll??!! Are you f*cking mental? I wouldn't even have him in the squad. Mine would be; Hart Richards Terry Cahill Cole Young Lampard Parker Walcott Wellbeck Crouch Obviously Rooney would come in once he's served his suspension. This Charming Man Posted 1 May, 2012 Share Posted 1 May, 2012 you are right..of course, carroll is pretty turd..but we are woefully short of rooney alternatives I agree there. I can't understand why Crouch has been frozen out. He's always done well and scored at a pretty decent rate for us.
dinger Posted 1 May, 2012 Share Posted 1 May, 2012 I agree there. I can't understand why Crouch has been frozen out. He's always done well and scored at a pretty decent rate for us. The two accusations always seem to be that a) he doesn't score against the big teams, and b) team mates can't resist the easy long ball option when he's playing. I would say: a) He never starts against the big teams, even though he seems to always score for England when he starts. Perhaps he should start? b) They're professional footballers FFS. Tell them not to do it.
Thedelldays Posted 1 May, 2012 Share Posted 1 May, 2012 I think Crouch, Holt, Lambert, Welbeck could all do a decent job as the main striker so long as they have the right players around them. Either Lampard or Gerrard behind them and 2 decent fast wide players. You don't need a striker with pace if you have Walcott/Young up there, plus all 4 strikers mentioned are good in the air. I hope Sturridge isn't in there. He has talent, but whenever I see him it's head down, run and shoot. His overall finishing has been a bit poor and he's not a lone striker at all. that is why he never plays in the big games for chelsea if they have most available
alpine_saint Posted 4 May, 2012 Share Posted 4 May, 2012 Not even going to bother watching it. England will be crap, dominated by the same old egos from Manyoo and Chelsea, and not going to give any sort or attention to a competition partly hosted by a despicable authoritarian regime that is slowly killing its opponents in prison. Verbal Kint Posted 4 May, 2012 Share Posted 4 May, 2012 (edited) Terry shouldn't be in the squad. He's proven himself to be a liability in big games and the race issue is a serious one. I'd like to see some vision in the England team. It's time we dropped the 'golden generation' and started to build a team for the world cup and next euros. The current squad has had many chances and has disappointed every time. I'd like, at least, to see a midfield that focuses on technical ability as opposed to 'Premier League work hard but can't keep the ball' players. Surely there was a lesson to be learnt from the Germany defeat? It was embarrassing watching schweinsteiger take the **** out of Lampard and Barry. Unfortunately two of the brightest midfield prospects in the country (Wilkshire and Cleverley) have been injured all season as otherwise it would have been great experience for the two of them. Hart Walker Jones Smalling Baines Lennon Chamberlain Parker© Gerrard Young Rooney In an ideal world i wouldn't want Gerrard near the team either, but you need a coupleof experienced heads to help the others through. If Terry is in the squad i won't be watching, and i know plenty who feel the same way Edited 5 May, 2012 by Verbal Kint

Sour Mash Posted 8 May, 2012 Share Posted 8 May, 2012 Can I offer a guess ? 'Cos he's (allegedly) a racist c**t, perhaps ? He would stop watching a major footballing tournament that he would otherwise want to watch because ONE of the players might be a racist and isn't a very nice bloke This forum contains more amusing rubbish by the day. If you were in the mood for getting on your high horse and taking the moral high ground, surely a more worthy cause to get worked up over would be Ukraine's poor human rights record and their inhumane treatment of political activists and the opposition, rather than John Terry? But John Terry might have said some nasty words to another player when playing a game, so I'm not going to watch it Are these people for real? My comment wasn't aimed at you. You were suggesting that Verbal Knight may be declining to watch the Euros because John Terry is a nasty man. I then suggested that if this was the case, then surely there are more worthy causes to take a moral stand on (I know it's all the rage these days) like the ones I listed above. skintsaint Posted 9 May, 2012 Share Posted 9 May, 2012 think this tourney could have a Italia 1990 feel to it, whole nation thought we were going to do ****, didn't really do well, lucky to beat Cameroon getting to the Semi...then the whole country got behind the team and were unlucky against the Germans (again). We have a tough group so hope the country doesnt go mental if we don't make it, just get behind the lads whoever is playing and get a good atmosphere going. Makes these tournaments a lot better than the usual negativity that is banded about.
