Ohio Saint Posted 28 April, 2012 Share Posted 28 April, 2012 If I'm honest, I was watching the ball all the time. I vote for Ball!

SuperMikey Posted 28 April, 2012 Share Posted 28 April, 2012 Guly and Morgan were brilliant for me today. Morgan just pips it for me because Guly lost the ball a few times when we had the momentum. If Schneiderlin can carry this form into next year he'll be a key, key player for us!
pingwing Posted 28 April, 2012 Share Posted 28 April, 2012 Guly and Morgan ran the midfield! For once (in god knows how many games) Guly played in the right sort of positions and Morgan left to do the sit in front of the defence and look hard about it role. Guly has to be motm for that cross, first player all season to make a cross from the wings where he looks up first to see where our strikers are... Morg had an amazing game but for the first time in months it really has to be a properly Guly day.
Ohio Saint Posted 28 April, 2012 Share Posted 28 April, 2012 I rolled up my sleeves to vote, thought about it, then decided there really was no MOM today.
Ashley Grute Posted 28 April, 2012 Share Posted 28 April, 2012 Guly was class today, but has to be Fonte for his goal and amazing run for the first goal!
Lazlo78 Posted 28 April, 2012 Share Posted 28 April, 2012 This may not be the right thread for the following request but here goes: I'd really appreciate a player review for the season like those Chez and others post after the games. Sort of wrapping up the performance and status of the 35ish players involved in this season - or just the key players. Any takers?

sifter Posted 28 April, 2012 Share Posted 28 April, 2012 Fonteyn changed the game and settled us down. His best game of the season for me.
doddisalegend Posted 28 April, 2012 Share Posted 28 April, 2012 Guly for me guy was everywhere today working his socks off. He looked really good when playing more central (after Hammond came off)

syd_barrett_saint Posted 29 April, 2012 Share Posted 29 April, 2012 Guly was my man of the match too, best he's played in a long time. Portuguese speakers may also laugh at what he says to the camera man on the dressing room celebrations video on SaintsPlayer - "stick that camara up your c*nt!". Deano6 Posted 29 April, 2012 Share Posted 29 April, 2012 I'm gonna say Fonte. I'm not normally one for giving out a MOM for one or two things someone did in the game, but those first two goals were [Merrington]absolutely crucial[/Merrington] and set the tone for the whole of the rest of the game, settling the nerves and allowing us to play our football. Plus he got the clean sheet. Well played that man!
thefuriousb Posted 29 April, 2012 Share Posted 29 April, 2012 Guly and Morgan were brilliant for me today. Morgan just pips it for me because Guly lost the ball a few times when we had the momentum. If Schneiderlin can carry this form into next year he'll be a key, key player for us! This. Morgan showed today that not only could he play at the highest level, he would not look out of his depth at the very biggest sides. ood job he is at one already, eh! :-)
dune Posted 29 April, 2012 Share Posted 29 April, 2012 Sharp for me, he's come on leaps and bounds and from looking unfit and lost he now looks like a Premier League centre forward.
trousers Posted 29 April, 2012 Share Posted 29 April, 2012 I can't decide between Guly, Morgan and Fonte. Special mention for the unsung Butterfield who I thought ran his socks off for us yesterday.

Dibden Purlieu Saint Posted 29 April, 2012 Share Posted 29 April, 2012 Out of all the players that it could have been, I think it was Guly. Find that very funny.

Brizzie Saints Posted 29 April, 2012 Share Posted 29 April, 2012 Cant believe i'm saying this coz i've slated him all season, but for his work rate, quality passing and tracking back it has to be Guly. Now i'm off to shoot myself. Hats off to every single one of em, absolutely Fantastic, also the fans really stepped up yesterday, the entire club are a credit. (not THE) Kevin Moore Posted 29 April, 2012 Share Posted 29 April, 2012 Guly rose to occasion magnificently. But everyone, to a man contributed yesterday. So proud today!
derry Posted 29 April, 2012 Share Posted 29 April, 2012 Fonte for making the difference early on when it really mattered. Terrific break to put Guly in position to cross without pressure to Lallana. Diving header with enough power to bounce for the second goal which gave us the result we needed. It should be remembered before reading too much into individual performances that this was a very young Coventry side that would really only be considered a development side. I don't know what Allardyce was going on about all week, there was no way Coventry were going to give us a problem despite a lively start.
Glasgow_Saint Posted 29 April, 2012 Share Posted 29 April, 2012 Voted Guly
Armchair Posted 29 April, 2012 Share Posted 29 April, 2012 Guly MOM. Clearly Guly is much more comfortable in centre midfield and I reckon we will see him play there more often than not next season. Cork was very good yet again showing good energy and movement.
aintforever Posted 29 April, 2012 Share Posted 29 April, 2012 I voted Guly but Schneiderlin and Fonte also had outstanding games.

eurosaint Posted 29 April, 2012 Share Posted 29 April, 2012 Just noticed that somebody actually voted for Puncheon, presume that they were taking the mick as (although only on for a short time!) he was useless !
Sheaf Saint Posted 29 April, 2012 Share Posted 29 April, 2012 Guly was certainly on fire yesterday. Ran his socks off, got back when needed and generally got everywhere and didn't give the Cov midfield any time to get the ball down and under control. However, I did also think he was wasteful in possession a few times and gave it away a little cheaply at others, so my vote has gone to Schneiderlin who, despite just coming back from injury, I thought had a magnificent game and I can't wait to see him performing in the prem next season because the lad is sheer class. Professor Posted 29 April, 2012 Share Posted 29 April, 2012 There's almost a sense of guilt voting for one player when there were great performancs all through the team but I've given my vote to Billy Sharp. He was a constant threat, keeping the Coventry midfield and defence busy. The slight flick he gave to Lallana's shot, which turned a shot that would have been bloicked, into a goal, was striker's instinct and I'm not sure he's been given full credit for how good that was, even though he's been credited with the goal. His strike that led to Jos Hooiveld's goal was another example of how dangerous he is in the box and through the game you could see the great understanding between him and Rickie. As a pair of strikers I can see them doing well in The Prem - and we still have Chung to add to the mix! But let's just make sure that Rickie takes the penalties. shurlock Posted 29 April, 2012 Share Posted 29 April, 2012 guly was very good IMO.....playing at the tip of the diamond suits him well Though he was playing right for the first half. Was my MOTM too but that Coventry side would have struggled in L1. Had a traces of our 2008/09 team. They had some nice possession but it really was men against boys. SNSUN Posted 29 April, 2012 Share Posted 29 April, 2012 When Hammond went off, Guly seemed to play a lot in a more central role, and I thought he was exceptional. Honourable mention to Davis, who made some good saves, Lallana with his goals (I will credit him with the first, even if it went to Sharp officially) Sharp and Fonte. Shroppie Posted 30 April, 2012 Share Posted 30 April, 2012 Gave my vote to Guly, But surprised to see Sharp so low when he was a close 2nd for me.
Foxstone Posted 30 April, 2012 Share Posted 30 April, 2012 After a inconsistent couple of games, I thought Fonte was immense with his run for the first goal and his diving header putting the cherry on the cake. For that he gets the nod from me... But really, do we need to pick a MOTM here ? Somehow it does'nt seem to matter when they all delivered what was needed. saintstr1 Posted 30 April, 2012 Share Posted 30 April, 2012 Voted for Fonte but in all honesty they were all Magnificent. Really think we have the basis for a really strong premiership team next season and glad to see Chung celebrating in the dressing room photos, he will be massive in the prem.
